I'm not sure if anyone has pointed out that Badland is one of this week's nominations for Game of the Week. Cast your votes here - http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=184369
Hello everyone! Amazing feedback here in TouchArcade forums! So nice to here you people seem to like our little creation. BADLAND is also doing very well at the charts. It means only one thing: Plenty of more BADLAND coming in the future! Any hopes and dreams for the upcoming updates? Someone asked if the Day 2 will be free and the answer is yes it will.
The only thing that feels like its missing to me is a good sinister enemy. The 1st spider in Limbo was perfect. Currently in Badland you have the eyes watching in the background but it would be cool to take that element of paranoia to the next level. You're character is obviously some sort of experiment. Whatever made you probably has the means to hunt you down. Your game is really wonderful. I'm glad it's doing well. It's a extremely positive message to the industry that good old hard work, imagination, passion and a straight forward business model is still a valid avenue for success
Awesome, love free new content. Can't wait to see what new obstacles and power-ups you're going to create! My only negative is that some missions seem too reliant on luck. Especially the "Save X clones" missions
Oh, Christ, I could hardly disagree more. You can argue the puzzle solutions are essentially linear, but they're not all obvious, they don't all involve powerups and for several I saw you don't, strictly speaking, need to collect the pickups in the first place. Not to mention I would argue 'til I'm blue in the face that the controls are absolutely god damned masterful. I've frequently thought OH, GOD, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THIS while flailing around trying to fit through a gap and then thought "Oh, right, there we go". And been able to reproduce it more and more often with each playthrough. I like Edge, I really do, I like it when videogame journalists treat games seriously and speak their minds, but occasionally they're so wrong it's painful. I have a review submitted for the site I write for - nothing up to Edge's level of brand recognition, sadly but I'm... well, a lot more positive. If my editor okays it then hopefully it should be up in the next few days? Fingers crossed. EDIT: For what it's worth, I went with "A strange, rabbit-eared blob".
We DO love your little creation. Someone a few posts back went and found various names reviewers gave the creature, hehe. My favourite is "bat-hedgehog hybrid". I'm sure you'll get a ton of suggestions, but this is a small one - I love the use of checkpoints in levels, but often when I get too stuck, I'll exit the game and come back later. I lose the previous checkpoint and have to start from the beginning, which hasn't been a real issue yet, but as I get into trickier missions/days (I only just started noon and am struggling a bit, some timing issues) I'd really love the ability to have a checkpoint saved even after you exit the game. Overall I really, really love this little creation - you & the development team did an amazing job with the ambiance/mood especially; one of the few games where I really go somewhere else and not just watch the screen. What site do you write reviews for? I've seen your impressions on several games and typically agreed with you - part of your talk of Badlands contributed to me getting it, actually, so I'd love to see/read some.
Edge's comments about the controls are pitiful. The entire concept of the game is based around the changing controls and styles of movement. When you're big, you're supposed to feel heavy and clumsy, when you're tiny with speed and bouncy power ups, you're supposed to feel ridiculously out of control. It feels exactly how anyone with a brain would imagine it should feel.
Nicely said, that's exactly how it felt for me playing, the physics and controls are spot on, the things react just how you'd think they would.
Congrats on the success! I was shocked to find that this game was made by two people. Definitely one of the best ios games available. Thanks 4 keeping it free of iaps, that would've gotten in the way of the mood. Badland is absolutely PERFECT. There's only one thing that bothered me, but not a huge problem: If you collect power ups in a certain order, and get tiny later in the level. Then if you die it will revive you at the checkpoint as a larger clone. It makes it difficult sometimes to collect more clones to the end because the checkpoints change your size. Not sure if you guys could make it so the clone stays how he is whenever someone gets to a checkpoint. But still, thanks 4 this precious game! Can't believe I'm on the top of the leader boards with so many people playing Looking 4ward to future levels and any future projects you guys release
So glad its doing well for you, i'll leave an itunes review later (Suggest anyone else here who likes it does the same as it helps the devs). This is a great case of us buying up the game (and not waiting for price drops!) and as its doing so well we'll be getting more content - free. Great stuff
Ok ok since another world board is dead ill ask here cuz u know alot of u guys have the game. Is it just me or does it say the game is optimized for the Iphone 5 yet it doesn't fit the screen. Did I miss an update? Thanks to whoever can shed some light on this.
You guys absolutely rock! Congratulations on a kick ass game. Everyone Buy this game! I've noticed that if you focus on the last guy in your group (that is, the guy on the left of the screen) the game opens up strategically. Quite a lot of fun and one of the best looking games on the App Store. I love the design and animation on your little guy. He's a little creepy but also so cute I just can't leave any behind. Well I can but I try not to LOL it adds a Different kind of motivation to the game. Ps Mad props for not falling victim to IAP craze and Having the balls to price your game higher than $.99. Also, I would pay for content no prob. but free content is definitely the way to support your fans if you can afford it, So I think it's a great idea. Oh, and anyone that loves this game should play world of goo. This game is like the love child of limbo and world of goo. And I mean that in the best of ways!
I'm starting to think of the little guy as a furry little bat creature. Partly because of the way he spawns In. Does it have a name? Also I love the creatures in the background they're awesome. Might be cool if you could work them into the gameplay somehow.
Yep, one of the few i've bought recently, and i play everyday, slowly, taking my time.. It´s a bit hard sometimes, but after ten or twenty times i always succeed, so that´s the right difficulty i think! Thanks for the atmosphere, it´s really well made, the sounds are great, as the visuals and controls. Perhaps could you develop the story a bit more, between the chapters? Like in oddworld games, with abe? I don't know... But it´s so good like that. A great IOS game, thanks to the dev!
Finished all the levels, 40 levels with 40 missions complete. Bring on day 2! Would also love to see more multiplayer maps. Awesome game! Highly recommended to everyone. My only small complaint: allow to resync acheivements - I didn't get the achievement for completing 30 missions nor did I get the achievement for finishing day 1 as I didn't have Internet connection when I got these. Frogmind, if you are reading this, please update with a fix.
