But its also confusing when people call some runners 'platformers'. To me a platformer should be left/right not endless running. I wouldnt call the Rayman game a platformer but i've seen the word platformer used a fair bit Apologies for off topic But back to this game, who has bought it, impressions ? Seems quite quiet so far
Regarding the runner debate, I will call this a platformer above a runner, just as I would to games like Spunk & Moxie, Bobbing, Rayman Jungle Run and Polara. The best term of course is a runner-platformer. Always feel a bit giddy and sick in the guts when these games are called runners alone. Edit: Anything that involves jumping (or something depicting jumping) is qualified to be called a platformer imho.
As in the same device multiplayer, up to 4 players. Not sure about GC MP yet. Hope so. Cant wait for this runner (plaformer=left/right movement and free left/right roamimg / runner=never stops you just control some gameplay element, in this case its wings it seems) for tonight.
I'm not normally into these simple games but I really like the look of this one. The silhouette-esque thing has been done before, yes, but rarely this nicely. Multiplayer seems pretty funny, too. Also Respect! EDIT: dev video of multiplayer
Looks great! 10 mins past midnight here in UK, any iTunes links yet? Edit, found it and bought! https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/badland/id535176909?mt=8
So, E-P, we know how you feel about Dream Chaser, you have had to have played this by now. What's the verdict????
Well, I'm not E-P...but I can say this is pure awesomeness. Well worth the wait. Controls perfectly, looks absolutely gorgeous and is yet another essential iOS title to own in this day and age if you're sick of all the freemium/free-to-play/IAP-infested crap out there. Also, the sound design's engrossing. Definitely grab your headphones for this one.
Wow, this is amazing! The game looks incredible and the gameplay is ingenious. It's also a lot trickier than I expected.
Oh my!! This is a fine fine game! I'm blown away by it quite frankly. Everything about it is ridiculously well done. Sound effects, which is not something I normally comment on or particularly notice in games normally, are absolutely superb. They fit the action so perfectly it's uncanny. The evolving gameplay, the way it lets you discover stuff for yourself, the art and movement, the controls, animation... all total and utter top quality stunning amazingness. Takes the one touch game to another level IMO. And again this is why I love iOS gaming! I'm going back in
Badland was well worth the wait, I love the NightSky feel it has (but completely different games, only share the sounds, blackness and the No IAP stance, if you love that from NS, you will feel right at home here too) to it, it feels very special and unique for a runner. A physics runner to be precise, where you have to interact with the enviroment to advance. And very clever and ingenious situations, and more devious than it seems too. And very immersive. Its amazing. Played some multiplayer against a buddy and its even better, and surprisingly good to see and control your ¿flying thing? with other hands in between. I cant recommend this enough? Already in love with it. And No IAP to seal the deal.
Wow... just had a go with this and it's fantastic. Atmosphere is great, one-tap touch control works well, the sounds are awesome. My only gripe, is that the main character is a meatball with Panda eyes which isnt cute or hero-ish in my book.
