Not if the iPhone 5 is released with the same internals as the iPad 2 - dual-core A5 chip w/better GPU, 512MB RAM, etc. and still has the retina display. Remember how everyone said the Xoom tablet or this or that unreleased-but-already-specced tablet was going to kill the iPad? Well the iPad 2 came along and crushed them at least in the initial tests that have already come out. I expect the same will go for the Xperia Play versus the iPhone 5.
Let's hope Gameloft made 'Backstab' for the iPhone first, then decided to port it to the Xperia Play.
Haha, that would be great. Thats pretty much what's happened on all Xperia games so far. Most of them don't even use most the buttons!
Or even better, the iOS version is completely separate and uses unreal engine 3!! I think that the Xperia play exclusive is just a bonus for gameloft in terms of $, because they are probably still in heavy development on the iOS version. We also know tha is going to be a one month exclusive, so I suppose we can expect to see the iOS version sometime at the end of May.

Haha, apparently, part of the 'exclusive' deal was that Gameloft weren't allowed to mention an iOS port - but were allowed to speak of Android. Shows who they're really scared of!
Xperia has exclusive rights to the game for a month according to Gameloft. Probably will be mid-May in that case...
While I understand this practice, it still makes no sense to forego large, near-instant profits from the iOS version for a tiny 30-day window on a phone that probably isn't going to sell much since the Xperia is not really the "PSP Phone" because it can only play converted PS1 games. And let's face it, the Xperia is NOT going to sell in any large numbers.
Not to sound like some iPhone fanboy (Downgrading from i4 to Nokia n86 soon), but I have tried Xperia Play and it is really a big fat fail. Really scarce on the launch game, a screen with low brightness (even on max setting) and not really living up to the Playstation brand in term of games. I got this phone offered for $ 299 contract free in Denmark (The land where iPhone and iPad is most exspensive in the world... We are used to tossing money out) and yet I declined because I felt it was somewhat failing. Glad that Gameloft is still focusing on iOS.. Unless xperia play get FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, Soul Reaver and MGS Integral on the store its a no go for me.
Their animators and voice actors suck! Don't they get how to make a normal scene? Look at bad companys 2 cut scenes they look normal! Not like gamelofts horrible style! Plus the animations are so poor... that I would still prefer to play some shadow guardian with nice animations, graphics textures, motions but not this peace of shit! I though this game will be a big succes but now I think its a fail!
Bit stupid to call it a 'peace of shit'. At least wait to play the game instead of basing your opinions solely on a preview video. I dont care about the cutscenes, its all about the actual gameplay. I've enjoyed other Gameloft RPG style games so i'm looking forward to this. But to call it 'shit' when you havent even played it is stupid Looking at your old posts the majority of them are you whinging on about various Gameloft games. If you dont like them fair enough, but not even trying them first makes your views redundant. Its like some one-man war against Gameloft.
well its obviously not unreal engine, its the same engine with better textures, which is fine by me, NOVA 2 IMO is the peak of GL engine so far, and it looks gorgeous. this looks a lot better though, i really hope it has a nice story, DECENT animations and dialog PLEASE! EDIT: i just saw the video and its pretty much an AC clone, but with pirates, which is really cool imo, plus it looks well done.
