I'm Mathew Cruz and this is my first app!

If you play Magic the Gathering, don't be the only guy without this app!

I know everyone has seen life counter apps, card database apps, card price apps. Forget all that crap. This app is the one to get. It has all that and more. I've spent over 400 hours making this everything you'll ever need. Check it out The Sylvan Archives

    It features:
*The Gatherer card search with card art, price, oracle text, and more.
*D20 dice, 2D6 dice, and a coin to flip. All motion controlled and 3D!
*Fully featured life counter with poison and mana counters all on one screen, all controlled with just up/down, left/right swipes.
*Game timer with log to keep track of life totals and win count.
*The log can be saved for future reference.
*Fully customizable with hand painted artwork, including backgrounds and avatars. You can use pictures from your photo roll too!
*A reference library with over 80 documents that's searchable!
*RSS links to popular Magic RSS feeds.
    *Top player list.
    *Find local Magic events.
    *Facebook connect integration.

The first update has already been submitted and that has a deckbuilder and a buy card from app option!

If you have any comments or feature requests, send me a message. You can also email me at [email protected]

Hi, my name is Steve, and I worked on The Sylvan Archives as a designer with Matt. Basically, we were contemplating ideas for iPhone apps, and I thought of the idea for an incredibly robust Magic App. I have been playing Magic since Ice Age, and at my peak was pretty decent with an 1850 DCI rating and top 8 PTQ finish. I haven't played seriously in quite awhile, but I still love the game and always toy with the idea of coming back.

Essentially, I thought to myself, what would I, as a player, want in the ultimate iDevice app? Card search, Oracle Text, searchable massive documentation, game state monitor, prices, deck builder, randomizer, etc. These are things I would have loved to have on demand back when I was a player. The only goal, and remains so, is to have the ultimate Magic resource. End of story.

So, the Sylvan Archives was born. Matt did all the hard work, I basically just sat there and said put this here and that there, LOL. So if you don't like any of the UI elements or design, it's my fault, haha. Anything you want, just say the word, and I'm sure Matt can make it happen within reason.

Clearly, the deck builder is next. Matt has put an unbelievable amount of hours into making this thing the most awesome app possible so bring on the feedback! We are just a couple of dudes that love Magic and iDevices, so have at it.

    Steve

Wow this looks awesome. I don't really play M:TG anymore but man I wish someone would make some worthwhile D&D apps to assist in DM'ing. Just basic initiative tracker, HP calculator, something.

Instead all that exists are dice rollers. I don't know why you'd want to use your phone to roll dice, that's part of what makes D&D fun. ;)

Damn I miss playing MTG :-(

Just got too addictive for me though. I started with Alpha - had all the cards, played all the time. Won the English Championships, played in the second Pro Tour in LA... but it really got out of hand so I sold all my cards and gave it up.

Been so tempted to play it again so many times since though. I had a brief look at the online version but I never got into it.

If WOTC ever did an iPhone client for their online game then I'd be in REAL trouble though...

This app looks great, btw - and I almost wish I still played so I could use it ;-)

    Jamie.

Are you using the 1.7 update? The search engine doesn't crash in 1.7.
