See the post I made just before you. With a picture of my Alien crawling on the wall. And sneaking. The plot line seems fine, not great, but fine. But yes you mainly go from place to place beating up 6-7 different types of enemies (so far). Side missions includes arenas and protect missions though.
While it does seem like a button masher for the first few levels, you eventually level up and get new weapons, combos, attacks, etc. the armor and equipment loadout systems are extensive and give you a huge variety of options for both the predator and the alien. Play a little more, and you'll see what I mean. and try farming the bonus stages that start appearing around level 4 or 5 ish if you're low on honor or whatever the currency is.
How bad is the grinding? To finish the next level comfortably, how many times would I have to replay the previous games? 5? 10? 20? Pocket Gamer, apart from the harsh score, mentioned difficulty spikes, which is very common in IAP-based games. I don't mind a bit of grinding like in NFS, as I enjoy racing a few more times to save up enough cash for the better car, but if it's heavy grinding like in Zenonia (where it's very boring and tedious, and the difficulty spikes don't reward you anything except to grind a bit more for the next grind-fest level), then I'll stay on the sideline.
It's not bad, and definitely not Zenonia bad, it feels like an option. Not like being forced to replay a level ten times. And so far no problem without. I just got curious and wanted to see some of the different weapons (as there is a side mission that needs special kinds) as well as armor. I would say (again only maybe three hours in). It's not needed at all so far. There has been spikes in difficulty, but I think that was more due to me threating it like a mindless slap fest than considering blocking etc.
Oh is that what it's doing? Heh, I couldn't tell. So does that offer any strategic advantage? Can you do something like scamper up the wall then leap from it on to an enemy? Can you use your tail? Do the aliens have acid for blood? I read there's an alien vision mode - is that like an infra vision type deal?
Only certain walls when be run up (needs to have a green trail in order to wall climb) No advantage just to get to one place to another and progress the story.... Yes you can switch between your tail and claws, claws are fast light Melee and tail is your Heavy Melee Yes the aliens have acid for blood but it doesn't hurt anything you can unlock to spit acid but that's about it....oh also leave a pool of acid on the floor Alien only has one version no other version modes
Oh and to the devs I have completed the game and collected every single trophy head I could find and still no achievement unlocking for me.....have played each mission twice to see if there was anything I missed Oh and on the get 10 kills using stealth....the kill count stays at 0 Might want to look into both of these thanks
How will multiplayer be added in an update? This has piqued my interest somewhat. Is it co-op or the dm/tdm format?
Sorry to say man, but Destructible enviornments is a dream on iOS. I don't think we'll see that for a few years.
Grinding seems pretty easy to me. I kept failing the first side mission for the Predator but I was getting like 11k to 15k each time I failed. Some of the earlier equipment goes for around 20k or so. It'll probably get more expensive later on but at this rate it seems pretty modest. BTW did you guys know there's a brightness setting?? I'm still seeing complaints about the darkness and I didn't even need it to be turned up all the way to be to my liking. Check the options.
To whomever said we should wait until getting a melee weapon before deciding whether or not this is a good game or not...I think you're spot-on. I just did, and I have a feeling this game is starting to open up quite awesomely. Love that there are specific "fatalities" for different weapons!
I'm not certain, but I don't think I've even put 2 hours total into the game yet. >_> The pacing seems completely fine, IMO and again makes me wonder just how much time Pocketgamer put into the game before writing that review. Gonna go over the review one more time. EDIT: I could've written the exact same review right after the first Spoiler encounter with Facehuggers as a Predator . There's nothing that even remotely suggests they played through the whole thing.
Did he mention anything on the weapons? If not, he's probably just beating a deadline or he loses his job. He chose losing credibility over losing his job.
