Too bad it also didn't have the human missions like it did on the PC and in the gameplay video am just missing a sense of speed from the alien Sure there is the dash attack but why can't we sprint, also a shame that wall climbing all the time and using the shadows to keep hidden didn't make it across either But still going to buy it lol
Now this is a real review. 3/10 from PocketGamer. At least they agree with me that this is just a poor game all around. http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPad/Alien+vs+Predator%3A+Evolution/review.asp?c=48903
Bad score Well AvP got a very bad score on pocketgamer, so I'll wait for appspy review before getting it http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPad/Alien+vs+Predator%3A+Evolution/review.asp?c=48903
Ouch. This guy didn't like the game at all. Curious to see a full review so fast. I would hope the guy played the game all the way through before rendering such a harsh opinion. Anyway, so far it sounds like the IAP is too much given this is a $5 game. Sounds like you have nothing but basic brawling ability until you purchase power ups and the cash to get power ups is not handed out very generously. That's a shame considering this is not a Freemium game. Either charge $5 and give everyone reasonable access to all of the content or don't charge anything and let people pay real money for access to the content, but don't charge $5 and make us pay for necessary content.
Seems like the review has a I gladitor vibe to it. Not getting alot of points for stuff and wanting you to spend iap alot.
I totally agree, having to spend on IAP to fully enjoy the game after spending $5 for the game itself is a disgrace! I hate those IAP, I am not getting this one, sorry guys, it really looked good at first, but the IAP system was a bad call
If you look at the front of this thread, I explicitly mentioned that the combos can be something good, but they are not put to good use as you need a lot of in game currency to get new weapons etc. But nobody bothered... I mean you got 19 levels, 10 predators and 9 aliens, and they are offering $50 IAPs for each class (each class has different in game currencies!!). That itself should raise a red flag. Time the whole mobile gaming industry took a step back and looked at themselves in shame with how they've abused IAPs. This may not be true for indie devs, but all of the major gaming corporations are serial offenders.
My spidey-sense was a tingling when I first read about this title due to years of massive letdowns with movie tie-in games going right back to Snes-era ! World keeps turning.... Very little changes !
I just gotta say im very impressed with this app! The graphics, the UI,sound effects and all the nice little touches i have seen so far! Feels to me this app was made by true fans of the franchise and everything just oozes class. Kudos Devs
What game are you playing? >_> There are 2 currencies and it's even mentioned in the Pocketgamer review.
I responded in the IAP/freemium General Discussion thread; where IAP complaints go to die instead of getting awkwardly embedded inside game threads
Ok, so now we can't talk about the IAP in this game? Potential buyers have the right to know. From RR3, I have said it is wrong to remove IAP discussions directly related to the game. But anyway, doesn't matter to me.
Just a suggestion; it should be clear to everyone that Alien Versus Predator is impaired by IAP with 2 currency systems and can be expensive. I'm really interested in economics and find IAP discussion interesting so follow it better there so responded there for my own interest but "whatever floats your boat."
I can't complete the last predator mission, where you fight with alien queen. After o e minute, joystick button stop working. Maybe its bug in this game
I bought it and played 6 levels so far , here are some of my impressions. Graphic and sounds are excellent .Game is dark , but I don't have any complains on that, it suits this genre fine. Now, for a gameplay part, yes there is lot of A and B , and special weapon/ combo mashing , but not too painfull for your fingers in longer terms (if you manage to do combos right ).There is a fair amount of different enemies, from scientists, regular marines, marines with shotguns , flametrowers, mini guns to those pesky androids that are hard to kill ( that's what I have encountered so far playing as a predator most of time ).Game definitely has variety in enemies and environments, paired up with constant switching between alien and predator missions which spices up overall gameplay.AI is "standard" , middle ground between stupid and smart. They won't bump into walls, get stuck, or just wait with not doing a thing though, androids will charge in, while marines with guns provide support from long range.Lastly, from what I have seen until now, I get enough honor points from mission I play to purchase upgrades at relatively normal rate.As I see it, I definitely won't be able to buy best stuff from first waltrought, but again, that is fine with me , it's not like I want über armor and plasma gun that kills enemies in first hit at the beginning . My biggest concern was " wobbly " camera, you need to constantly correct it with finger swipes around, and being able to move around, hit, use special attack ( plasma gun from predator is a bit pain to use with camera moving around) at same time is kinda mission impossible with two hands. If I would to review it , it would get 4/ 5 stars from me, and with future updates ( if they are going to be as described in interview) it will only get better.
However, remember that icons are retina ipad now, so having alot of icons in RAM take up lot of space and make disk caching much slower.
