I have done all of the above... Except kept my level in the 30s. I kind of wish I did now. I'm at 52 and I'm owning everyone. My only problem is that I keep getting paired with low rating people and I'm only gaing 1 or 2 points for every match. At this rate I'll never catch up to the top of the leader boards. Especially since the game jipped me out of about 45 points for no apparent reason.
Fair enough. And sorry if that came off as me being preachy on a soapbox. I won't deny that the game is broken six ways from Sunday, but that's where I've been finding my challenge and interest. "How do I take this train-wreck of a PvP system, go into it with foreknowledge of everything that's never been improved over the last 15 months on Facebook, and use that knowledge to my advantage?" I've got a ranking of 1300 at the moment (even with most of my points lost in the first day), and only seem to earn considerable gains when I win on Defense. (Or maybe only the high-ranked people TRY to fight me on Defense.) I don't see myself ending up in Adamantium when it's all said and done, but Vibranium may be possible, especially since they just scaled that back to 3%.
Nah, I didn't take you to be preachy at all. I was whiny and you took me to school a little, and deservedly so. But I meant it sincerely when I applauded your insights, and am truly grateful. I've never played this sort of game on ios, plus I was in on the FB version towards the end of the beta so I needed some pointers, clearly. It was always my experience on the FB game that even when I did scale up to Adamatium League in PVP, the hardcore cats would swoop on during the last 8 hours or so and play for damn near all 8 of those hours and kick he rest of us down to lower rankings. I hope you're clever or skilled enough to work around this if and when it happens here. Let me know if you manage to wind up with Frank Castle; I never owned him on the online version and he seems like A Boss.
I'm at 1288 at the moment. Although, I have exactly 52 points that mysteriously disappeared into thin air. That should put me right at 25 on the leaderboard and should have put me in the adamantium league. Playdom probably doesn't care to fix something like this if I emailed them would they?
Not a chance. All the max-minning in the world can't help the fact that the league's going to end around this time on a TUESDAY of all days. I'm guaranteed to be out of position because of work for much of the last 8 to 10 hours. That's why I'm shooting for Vibranium - I'm not going to spend the effort and resources to try and guarantee access to a character who (if prior history holds) I should be able to save up Tapjoy Gold and acquire a month or so later. But I at least want the game to say I was IN the Adamantium League at some point over the next 10 days.
Once you reach a certain point, you start getting 1 point per win just about all the time anyway. So if you had those extra points, you'd have been earning less for some of your OTHER victories that you've earned along the way. Even if they gave you "credit" for those lost points, it would need to be a scaled amount, not the full 52. Similarly, I wasted my entire first day - I had 36 wins and 1 loss and stayed at Ranking 800 throughout all of it until they got that straightened out. That's at least 52 points lost after scaling. It was easy enough to increase back up even with that handicap, though. Now I'm up to 1345 but STILL only in the Top 1%. [Edit: Okay, scratch that. As soon as I hit 1347 - and actually had the 100 requisite attacks - it bumped me up to Adamantium even though it still says I'm only Top 1%.]
I had a feeling that was going to be the case. The same thing happened to me in the vibration league. I'll be in the adamantium league by tomorrow then. I'm in the 1% now. I just need to get my matches up to 100.
And then the very next fight it dropped me back to Vibranium. Hopefully there's some actual "human intervention" at the end of this when it determines who gets what prizes, or it's entirely possible that the game will say NOBODY was in Adamantium on the final hour. Heh.
Is this for real?! I get off for a couple hours and the AI does this to me on a couple defend matches... I've been chugging along 1 point at a time and in one fell swoop I get dropped 59 points! That's crazy! I'm a little frustrated between this and my other points disappearing... =(
Anyone's ranks drop? I was diamond and now not listed with top percentage and went back to silver. I still have over 900 points. EDIT: It's back now showing top 8%
I bought him with CP after he was available on Facebook. I never got him leveled to 6 for the third attack before I quit playing, but his ability to switch classes was really cool. You could basically keep using it until you got to the class you wanted to attack with (change from being a Generalist to a Scrapper, etc.), and he had different weapons/weapons animations for each one.
That's the nature of the beast, and why I know I'll never end in Adamantium. Once the environment evolves past its current state of "herp derp Blaster" and into something that's more Anti-Cap and/or Anti-Hulk, I'll be dropping in the rankings like a ton of bricks. (Especially because it keeps pairing me against the same three or four people now - they'll ALL rightly be out for revenge.) The game needs "scripts," or some way to set some basic commands or attack priorities to your AFK team. Without that, there's only a select few Heroes that can ever be viable on Defense. I'm sure there are some players so obsessed with winning that they'll sacrifice their daily awards for 50 +1 PvP Attack options every day, and just spam 500 battles in the last few hours. The players who do that, as well as have teams that work well on defense, will come out on top.
Yeah... That's too much work. I already spend enough time on this game as it is. I don't think I need to go that far. I was on vacation this last week so I've had some time to spare recently. Come Monday my work schedule goes back to normal and I'll probably be dropping in the rankings from lack of playing... I really want to pick up Punisher though!
I, too, would like Punisher, but learning from history he should be available for Command Points (he's 135 or so on Facebook?) about a month after PvP Season 1 ends. I can wait. Which is why I'm amazed people throw Gold into things like Chrono Boost (for the +299/+299 Armory Bonus) and Refined ISO Fragments (which will become useless at Level 60). When you spend almost as much Gold as it would take to buy the Adamantium Reward outright, it gets a little silly. Granted, that's kinda like the pot calling the kettle black, as I put time, effort, and even a few real-life dollars (my personal reward for these 60-hour work weeks I keep having to do!) into trying to optimize my team around the game flaws and see how far I could go with it. But I'm not going to spend Gold on items that serve no point EXCEPT to try to win this PvP Season.
I am enjoying pvp! After reading all these posts and also reading about the FB version, I have no illusions that I will make adamantium league. I would really love vibranium though! Has anyone else had this happen to them? My agent is kind of a support agent with his main weapon being a flamethrower. I was once fighting a team that had human torch in it, and lost everyone but my agent and took out everyone but the torch. Every single turn the torch would use its self heal and I could never do enough damage to kill it. I was caught in an infinite loop! I ended up having to force close the app! Sure was weird. Also, holy crap why do so many people use torch?
That specifically hasn't happened to me. I don't have the torch so I don't know what it's called, but I had one match where the torch pretty much exploded everyone on the screen including his own team. It was so effective that it killed almost everyone except for the torch. Luckily, I had my MFG up and it barely saved me. I still ended up winning, but it gave me a real scare. I have had 100 total attacks since the start of this pvp tournament and I had my first loss last night against the torch. Between that and the major points I lost with my defend matches it was a pretty bad day for me. BTW... With my 100 matches finished I am not in the adamantium league. I am at 1% and in vibranium. I was kind of hoping the 0.5% was a mistake or something, but it looks like that's accurate.
Largely for many of the reasons you described. On paper, the Human Torch is very effective. He's got a 20% bonus to his Attack stat (boosted even further by Plasma Body). He has a 25% auto-evade for any ranged attacks. He's immune to the Pyro Technique. His Level 1 attack does large damage and makes other Fire attacks (his own or an Agent's Pyro Technique) auto-crit. He can self-heal. If almost defeated his Nova Blast can cause ludicrous damage. In Player VS Enemy he probably cleans up the opposition quite handily. In PvP, though, his -20% penalty to Defense and vulnerability to Technicians makes it so he can be dropped in a few attacks and never get a second turn or the chance to self-heal. He needs someone like a suited Colossus or Captain America on his side to "keep the heat" away from him.
A question for the Facebook players: Spoiler Assuming the IOS version does the "Special Operations - Cry Havok" event, how much gold should I have saved up if want a good shot at recruiting Magneto? Similarly, how much gold should I have saved up if I want to recruit Juggernaut and Omega Sentinel?
Torch aint no thang... I've fought like 70 battles, and lost I think 5. I've never lost to torch, and been hit by his stupid nova a bunch of times. It just shows he is inferior for pvp!
First off, that special op was way into the game (timeline), so I wouldn't worry about it right now. Second, and this is for all special ops, just make sure you save up for expensive characters, like Spider-Man, Wolverine, etc. You actually don't need gold to successfully complete special ops; you need the right characters for deploys to get to the epic bosses. At this point, you can get most character by being persistent with Tapjoy and playing to 5 stars. If you stay up to date with new characters being released and have plenty of active friends, you should be fine for any special op. I always used avengersalliance.wikia.com to figure stuff out. Some things will change (like how iOS doesn't have research), but a lot will probably be the same.
