Yeah, version 1.5 is now out on the AppStore! Here are the changes in this version. Added for iPhone/iPod touch tapping on the side indicators would zoom to and select unit. Improved detection for hold unit(tap and hold unit) Fixed issue when two players are search for match in Game Center and unable to find each other. Fixed occasional bug where bluetooth matches are not connecting properly Fixed game freeze when setting fire without any Internet connection. We realized after submitting the app that the game would take a long time to load when using voice chat while the phone is on silent mode. Voice chat is now disabled by default, you can toggle it on in the settings. And other small fixes. We also reduce the overall file size. I never realize how precious is the storage space until I tried to install baldur's gate on my ipad. P.S btw you can invite a friend for a multiplayer match by using Create Game.
Downloading now. Don't have room (or time) to play it yet, but I've wanted this game for a long time now.
Merry Christmas! Some tips for iPhone players - you can double tap on an empty space to zoom in/zoom out, great when you want to quickly move your units across the map. - the side arrows show units which are off screen, red is enemy and blue is friendly. You can tap on the arrows to quickly zoom to the unit. The arrows would flash when units are fighting. - double tapping on a friendly unit would select all units of the same type nearby. Great for controlling archers.
Great tips. Knew about the camera, but I wasn't aware of the unit-type selection. I will say, though, I'm a little disappointed there's no mini map. Though you can zoom out a good bit, it's still difficult to send units across the map and then quickly tend to other units. Also, the presentation is a little amateurish. It's a pretty game, but the overword and cutscenes aren't great. Fun game, though, so far.
Try the zooming out all the way, it's surprisingly playable and you get the see almost the entire map. Otherwise if you prefer to play with a closer zoom, the side arrows are rather useful to toggle between units scattered around the map.
Yeah, that's basically what I've been doing. However, in many cases you still can't direct units as far as you might like. The system works, but it's a little clunky. Game's still got a lot of great things going on that most RTSes on iOS haven't been able to accomplish. I'm glad I got it, but it might be a tad overpriced, I think.
Stupid age-old questions: 1. I hate RTS (not to mention overspent), should I get this one? (for single player only) 2. Is there a way to stop, plan and plot?
No and no. IMO it's the best game on my devices, but if you hate RTS you aren't magically gonna like this one. It's about as RT as S comes
Yeah, I've gotta say that I enjoyed it quite a bit on my iPod before I gave it to the kids. It did take some getting use to the different controls, but it played great. I didn't have any problems either. =o/
We are currently working on the next patch now which would mainly consist of bug fixes. There are some minor but interesting stuff that is being worked on, but I have no idea if it could be included in timeframe for this patch yet, and so I will save the details for later. Feedback is very important to us and it is the best way of knowing how we can improve. If you are finding any part of the game difficult, be it the controls or game difficulty even, we would like to hear about it or any suggestions you have, and we will see where we can go from there.
Game Impressions The controls obviously. What use is a game if I can't play it? I'm fighting the controls more than I'm fighting the rebels. Like I said I'm sure on the big iPad screen everything was smooth sailing but I can't see how anyone can enjoy this game on their phone. Its just too fiddly and way to easy to misstap. Don't get me wrong. The game itself is great. I remembered when it came out on iPad and I was like "Man I wish this was on iPhone". I take that back now.
