I really don't mind if they charge - I already feel like I've gotten way more than what I've put into it back out of it. I just hope that this Universal update expands their player base enough that they'll keep developing for the iOS. =oD
Only played through a couple of missions and so far am loving it. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong though as it seems to be taking quite a bit more time to train new troops. During the first bigger battle (when the scholar leads the fight for the first time), I wanted to do the optional mission to destroy all of the enemy camps. But over he entire period -- which I think was 10 minutes until he General got back -- only one new unit was trained even though I had selected the base to generate a bunch. I also had more than enough gold. It says the time to train is 200, which I'm assuming is seconds, so that would only be 3 min and 20 seconds to train. So I figured at least three would have generated over the period. Am I not right?
You need to build Outposts so that you can have more units on the field at once - up in the top left of the screen you should see an x/y - with x being the number of units you have on the field and y being the number available.
I don't really get people complaining about a $1-$5 for new stuff. What is it that you do that you can't afford to throw the equivalent of a McDonalds meal at stuff that provides you hours of entertainment for your $500 toy? Heck, I'm a graduate student and I don't even blink when buying games that I think will be good on the iOS. This achievement (like most of them) is a bit tricky to get. You have to build a few camps and rush the enemy bases one at a time. Once you demolish them, build more barracks and farms on the free spots. Provided your regiments aren't too depleted, move on to the next base. When I got this objective, I was down to the wire on time.
"Graduate student" makes you much more privileged and fortunate than probably 90% of the US population. It's not bad to occasionally remember that there are a pretty large number of Americans who sometimes go hungry because they don't have money for food.
The tutorials at the start were useless because in case you just tapped the screen accidentally, the small boxes disappear. And also chances are many won't even see the boxes. Don't worry though, just play on and you'll get the hang of things.
Thanks the goal of the skirmish ai is to provide a tactical challenge instead of a dumb enemy which keeps on coming at you. It is limited by the processing power of the devices, but it will try to slip past you and attack your weak points. Novice mode is designed to help bew players by rubber banding to match their skill level and numbers. In normal, the ai plays with a significant handicap. Hard is my best effort at a fair, non cheating ai, while in brutal, the computer gets a resource bonus to help it challenge players who are using exploits that the computer cannot cope with. The ai is based on our entry for the 2007 AIIDE RTS AI competition(NUS4) https://skatgame.net/mburo/orts/AIIDE07/ where it won 693/700 games against competing AIs-- so some serious research has gone into it! Ultimately though, it is about fun rather than winning, so with 4 different skill levels, there will always a suitable ai difficulty for everyone!
You guys would be happy to know that Apple just came up with their "Best of 2012" and Autumn Dynasty is featured as an iPad app under "New Ways to Play".
Why wait till then? We don't even know how long the current price drop will last, so if you're planning to get it anyway....
