All I know is that Real Racing 2 cried itself to sleep last night because of Fatal Run.

I bought the full set. The full download size is something like 64 MB, FYI. No problems downloading it.

But already I've got a disappointment. The control scheme in Warlords is kind of weird and will take getting use to, but the worst part is that it doesn't support multiplayer on one device, at least not on the iPhone. Has anyone with an iPad tried it? Does it allow multiplayer on one device there? I don't really expect to be able to play that way on an iPhone, but on the iPad I would like that. I don't have my iPad yet so can't try it out myself. Also the control is strange because your paddle wraps around a corner, but the slider doesn't and is parallel to one side of your castle. It would work better for me if the slider were at an angle, cutting across your castle. This might only be possible on an iPad as well, though. I don't suppose it has it that way for the iPad, does it?

Tempest also takes some getting use to, but I think the controls will work better there.

I haven't played much yet, but will dive into all the games sooner rather then later.

If you retro fans love these games so much then why don't you build a time machine and go back to the XX century and marry them. Oh, it's too expensive to build a time machine you are saying? That just proves you are selfish, but I will tell you what, I will pay for the invention of the time machine just so you go away, and there is more precious space in the App Store made.

Now what are you saying? It is not legal to marry video games in the XX century? Oh, now you are just making excuses, if you really love these games you will join political activism and lobby your Senator until the dream becomes real. That is my challenge to you, sir, but you are probably too cowardly to accept.

What a 'great' post by that idiot !

I'll also stop listening to ANY music from the past, no Stones or Beatles. People arent allowed to listen to any old classical music either. Cars have to be brand new, you're not allowed to kit out some classic old car. Houses have to be brand new as well, none of this old fashioned designs or that ! Plus TV shows have to be live as we're not allowed to watch anything old ;)

Seriously that kids an idiot. In 20 years time he'll be the same over the games he grew up with when some brat in the year 2031 moans about the 'crappy graphics on that X Box 360 retro release and the sound is laughable etc....'

    Ridiculous.

The collection runs, er, less than ideally on my iPod Touch. All right, I'm broken... where can I get a newer model of the system cheap? Does such a place even exist? I'm tired of feeling left out with each new release, even if it does run on my system.

I am getting some weird error message ("bad data connection length"???) when I try to download individual game packs over 3g (Verizon iPad 2. It says the game pack in 2.6 MB so well under the 20MB limit.

I was able to download all the individual games with my iPhone 3GS over 3G. I'll try again on my iPad when I get home. If I still can't download on there, I'll just upload these to my computer and copy them over.

I saw a few people complaining about the sounds being off...

Every game I've tried is dead on! Even compared a few to my actual Atari and carts! This includes Yars Revenge!

The one MAJOR flaw with this is the controls aren't optimized for the iPad and feel WAY out of place. Hopefully Atari will figure it out and fix it in a update!

The controls on iPad for Major Havoc and Tempest are next to perfect!

I've been having this exact problem all night, still haven't ben able to download the full set yet. I can only grab individual titles, but even those take 10-20 tries to make it through a download without the damn timeout error. I thought it was just their servers being overloaded, then I thought it was my internet connection, now I'm just trying to be patient and if I keep trying the games eventually make it, but no way can I download the whole set at once.

well i did have a few d/load issues that are described here but came home from work and worked fine again off wireless.

running this on an iphone is less than ideal as the play area is incredibly small but games are still playable enough.

star raiders doesnt seem right to me, i must admit to not having played the 2600 ver but am sure it would have had at least the crosshairs of the 800xl ver!

tempest looks sweet, as do all the vector based games. i struggled a little with controls at first, simple tho they are, but am getting used to it.

a few other gems in here but still a vast library short of atari's best. licensing will always kill retro in some ways ;(

all in all its a great package at a decent price. i wish more old publishers would get on the bandwagon and release things like this. i like the capcom games but the presentation of that app is terrible.

Seems like Missile Command is portrait only and the tap control does not fire (you still have to tap one of the three fire buttons to fire). Am I missing something in how to select options for the game?

I hate the control of most of the games.Battelzone is nice, but the rest... .
the control of Tempest is so bad.Give us arrows.I cant really slide with this strange reel. The same with Centipede.the trackball control dosent really work well. When i change to touch control, the fire button is on top! of the screen, nearly not playable on the ipad.

    Super Breakout Pack
    1. Super Breakout
    2. Breakout - BLUETOOTH MULTIPLAYER
    3. Off - the - Wall
    4. Circus Atari - BLUETOOTH MULTIPLAYER

    Is this the 1991 version?
This would be the newest game in the batch, meaning there's a ton of
GOOD titles that were omitted, obviously intentionally from this pack.

Gauntlet anyone? Gauntlet 2? Marble Madness? Escape from the Planet of
the Robot Monsters? Roadblaster? The list goes on...

BTW since most games here are the vector graphics,
where's our all time favorite... wait for it...

    Star Wars? Empire Strikes Back?
How dare they tease with a 1990+ game in this "retro" pack...

Overall, it's not a bad package for some retro arcade gaming goodness. I do have some issues with the controls.

    What I like:
I like how you can give the controls (trackball, Tempest spinner) a "spin" like on the real arcade machines and the momentum keeps them going.

    What I don't like:
On the slider controls (like on Warlords) I can't stand how you have to go the entire length of the device to go from one end to the other. The range of motion needs to be shorter to be able to quickly move from one end to the other on the game screen. I also found the "catch" button to be poorly placed in Warlords.

This seems to cause a lot of confusion, but here's the nutshell:

In 1984 the then owner of Atari Inc., Warner Communications, sold half the company to former Commodore CEO Jack Tramiel. That part of the company was called Atari Corp and retained control of everything Atari had made up to that point (including previous arcade games) but was focused on the home market -- mostly computers, but to a lesser degree video game consoles. That company went under in the 1990s, was bought by Infogrames who started doing most of their business under that brand name.

Warner renamed the half that it kept as Atari Games and solely focused on Arcade Games (not being allowed to create home electronics under the agreement with Tramiel's Atari Corp). Atari Games was eventually purchased by Midway Games, somewhere along the way they sneaked back into the home market as Tengen (making unlicensed games for the NES). Midway Games eventually just absorbed the Atari Games brand, before meeting their own tragic fate earlier last decade (they're now owned by Warner again...).

The Atari games you see post 84 will be limited to Atari VCS games, as Atari Corp did not make any arcade games from that point on. The games you're interested in like EPROM, Marble Madness and Gauntlet are Warner Bros. titles.

Titles like Star Wars and ESB were licensed titles, which opens up a whole different can of worms. LucasArts has included them on Gamecube titles before, which might indicate that they own the code outright.

While this is an excellent response as I love facts, Off The Wall also carries
the same company brand, "Atari Games" as Gauntlet, making the explanation
    confusing...

The "Selected arcade games list here supports your quoted factual explanation above,
however, note Off the Wall is in that list also... unless, it's not the same game.
I don't own the recently added iOs version, so only assuming it's the same game.

Seriously? Which gamecube games? Were they decent emulations? Might have to start digging through the used game stores.

Interesting; I found Tempest, Centipede, Millepede & Missile Command to be the most easily controllable/natural of the bunch (from what I've played so far).

They were included as unlockables in Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike. I can't really speak to the emulation quality as I've never really been good at them but they seemed to be done well.
