Spoiler Well at least it isn't me. I'm stuck here as well. Beat the slug boss and there appears no way back out. Tried over and over but lava blocks everyway I can see... Guess I'll need to start a new game...
I got the Lite version and played around a bit - not quite sure what it is, but something appeals to me on a very deep level here. And in my insanity, I might start working on a map. How does that sound? ^^ Oh yeah, how long does it take to beat the knight/cannon boss with no equipment other than the birthday suit? I've been shooting him for ages, but he kicks my butt with that cannon thingie eventually.
Quite a nice piece of retro! Great, congrats and best wishes from Commander Pixman dev! Downloading right now on my iPad... btw: Name could be easily mistaken with Astronut
Spoiler Meh im not starting over, killing that friggin knight was troublesome. I'll wait for an answer from the devs.
Honestly, who cares? Either buy the game or don't. I can't imagine what it would be like if these forums existed back in the 8-bit days.
Ive killed him several times in just the birthday suit, key is to use the sound to tell when he is about to shoot his cannon. Just sit in the middle well/hole and jump up and blast as long as you dare or until you hear the cannon sound. Takes a while but isnt too tricky.
I <3 this game, there have been many attempts at a solid metroid styled game on the app store and most seem to be lackluster at best. This game makes me come back and explore harder to find the right path to the next power up, something that is not common for games of this design outside of the actual Metriod and Castlevania series themselves. I must say that I like a dev with a little personality, any news is good news and the drama certainly keeps this thread on the top of the TA front page all day which is good even if it shys away a few of the overly sensitive gamers that take the time to read the thread. Most of us would probably be sold by the sweet trailer though.
Maybe I made it into an area earlier than I should have, but I just collected a health orb and am trapped in that room and the one I fell into. I think it was around the jungle area but it's so hard to reference any places. No lava or anything, just the now empty room to the right of a pipe? that goes straight up with no doors or breakable blocks. Either I need the goggles or some way to float straight up and back out.
Hey Wade, I think I'm stuck too. Just got the gun powerup after beating the knight. I headed back to the original starting point, and destroyed some of those blocks that you could only destroy with the powerup. Eventually I fell down a pit of some sorts, and it opened up to a room with a green square inside. Can't find a way out D: Since it seems alot of people are getting stuck, maybe a "restart at last checkpoint" might help?
Everyone that decided to explore more, or simply got lost after defeating the Knight is stuck in that area. Do yourself a favor and beat the slug while you're at it, OR if you havent saved in that area, just suicide (if you feel like repeating the fight). Everyone is stuck at that area because the only way that might be a way out is blocked by a switch door that can't be open by any of the switches in the area, or the next area, for that matter (I tried, believe me, only stopped when I saw lava I couldnt jump over). This needs a fix I dont feel like starting over, I have 55% of the health bar worth of upgrades, I want to keep playing with this char .
Great Game Quote of the month?! ;D Ontopic: great game haves lot of fun with the lite version and will switch to the full version.
First of all, many thanks to all purchasers. At the time of writing, Astronot is #75 in Adventure Games on the (US) iOS App Store. Also, this is the first time more than 12 people have played the game, and the first time more than 3 or 4 have played the for a substantial amount of time. No game release is perfect, and I plan to fix the small issues that you have found. Things like fullscreen mode, iCade support, and etc. will come in future update. In the short term though, I'd like to fix the game breaking problems you've all found. Astronot update plans Okay. Yes, I am now aware that there is an issue in the area with the purple zigzag walls. I'll probably submit an update to iTunes Connect tonight. If anybody has any game breaking things they have found, now would be the time to tell me. Thanks. Okay. Now I don't know what spot your talking about. Could you post a screenshot please? I designed the game around a minimum area size of 15x8 blocks. If I expanded the line of sight, I would also have to redo a lot of the game world. Spoiler You couldn't go back from the slime boss? Could you post a screenshot of where you're stuck please? Yes Just a bunch of random tiles I placed because I was bored one time while designing the game world. Thanks.
So, I would first like to say that I'm really enjoying te game, it's a great atmosphere and wonderful graphics for retro fans. One question, is it roguelike in its death punishment? I died after finding a few upgrades and was sent back to the beginning without any of my upgrades or collected squares. I had saved on exit at one point, but once I died it was wiped. Thanks for any responses keep up the good work dev, I am a fan
I don't want to take screenshots - that would mean having the character in the middle of every single frame, or editing out that many images. I was thinking old school - pen and paper, then scan it and make it into something workable and presentable. As far as I've experienced, dying takes you to the last save point that you used - with any upgrades and progress since then wiped entirely. Are you sure you "used" the save point? It's not enough to just walk over it - you need to press the square button. (Just wondering, is all)
