but... in case for "Zenonia", also an english-only game, they gave it also 4-5 stars and nobody complains about the language. Except from few big games, almost every game is english-only. And if you write, for example, in the description that there will be very soon an update for german language, then would be everything fine.
We can't really 'just' launch the game in English in these territories and suck up the few negative reviews we will get because its not localised. Its not just about the reviews but sales! You will loose a lot of potential sales if people can't play the game in their own language. Of course a game like Astro Ranch has ALOT of text in it so there is a case to say that its not worth the cost (it will probably take 2-2500 downloads to pay back the translation costs and in some territories that is hard to achieve) but we'd like to provide the best service possible. If you are in France, Spain, Italy Germany or Austria and are happy to play the game in English post and let me know. If we get enough interest then I will consider it. Thanks P
it would be really cool if the game releases in austria... i think it`s a great idea to make an update for the languages.... because i don`t want to wait for the game.....
Release it in english and update later. People loose interest in apps way too quickly nowadays, so get your game out asap.
My question seems to have been lost in the traffic, so I am badgering you again, Paul - will it be possible to switch to English in localized versions? Preferrably from the main menu? If not, then please release the English version in these territories, too. I am sure that you have done your best, but some of us have been burned by localizations in the past.
pity. was looking forward to buying it as soon as it came out. waiting one month for the release of a localized version although i play all my games in english? no thanks...
Seeing that the game was made in English and that it is not even out yet for that language, lets worry about that first. You can worry about translating it into other languages and all that other jazz later Sure people in other countries/languages don't wanna wait, no one ever wants to wait but guess what? Welcome to gaming, that's just how the industry is, get use to it if you want to play video games. Personally I wish every Japanese and Korean game also released in English day 1. I also wish that I had a golden toilet to take a dump in every morning and toilet paper made of lightly compacted clouds and spring rain to go with it but that's just not in the cards now is it.
Paul we have had to wait a week or so for games and sometimes 24 hours to 3 days for us to get the game in then US. Please release this game. I had to wait on a game to come out in english just two weeks ago. Not all games come out in english first. If you really want a game you will wait it seems we are always last to get a game
If only so many craptastic apps weren't submitted daily, then the review process would be so much faster.
You forgot Holland (The Netherlands) Paul. Everyone in this country speaks English. Please offer the English version on the Dutch appstore from day one. Thanks!
I too anxiously await the release of Astro Ranch! I've wanted a good open farming game for a while and this looks like it will fit that niche nicely. - Yokoyama
God damn it i hate apple why can't they ignore some of those awful apps for a while and release this!!??
I think that it should be released with no localization, and the option to choose the language, although at first the only option would be english. You could talk about it in the description, english is very widespread, alot would at least be able to read the description.
While I wait, I'm deleting all these sound files off my iPod from a beta...Half way done (sad part is....it takes 3 minutes to delete one song)
Still waiting folks... I recommend you sign up to our Astro Ranch mailing list to be first to get news of the the launch plus updates and competitions etc. Just send an email to [email protected] asking to be added to the list. In addition 4 lucky sign ups will get a promo code for All Stars Darts! I'm still reviewing the localisation issue. I notice that our friends at Revolution Software released an English only version of Broken Sword and then released new fully localised versions and had both on the French/German/Italian and Spanish App Stores at the same time. I'll check with Apple and if this approach is ok then perhaps that might be the best solution? P
