Love me a racer, particularly one with provenance. I still feel the burn after PCGo but this looks like a very different animal. This looks like a game from the year 2000, which I’m perfectly happy with for less than a fiver. The low poly graphics generate no heat at all, so bodes well for battery life. Grid won’t run on my old iPad so can’t compare it. I do like the interior views and the fact that I’m having to learn to drive because of the fairly accurate handling. Definitely not an arcade racer. Though there is a Sunday Driver mode with lots of assists which I haven’t tried. My best lap time for Silverstone in the Fiat 500 is over 3 minutes! Also be warned this doesn’t have the usual left/right arrows for steering, just a sort of thumb slider which is awkward. Tilt steering works best if you can handle that. Edit; see comment from @GPS below re steering options in settings. If you’re all about graphics, prepare for disappointment, but if you’re ok with graphics that are a couple of generations old ,but crave something with a realistic handling feel, then this is for you.. for me it’s one of the few racers where you get a sense of the weight and feel of the vehicle. Like the PC and console versions the handling is quite tricky, definitely not plant the accelerator and scream around the track, it requires a learning curve of getting a proper feel for the vehicle handling, learning braking points etc.. There seems to be all the usual assist to switch on or off to varying levels.. I’ve only had a brief run and will hold off on all impressions, but so far I am very impressed. The fact that it is a true representation on mobile of the actual console/PC game, and not a tap tap racer using the name, is a massive win! And it’s premium with no IAP.. Happy days! There’s tilt to steer, drag to steer, and touch to steer with varying configurations of each.. the drag to steer is one of the better that I have tried. I personally prefer tilt steering. You can also use an external controller Asp likes this. Oh and if you use a controller you will want to go in to settings and turn down sensitivity to lowest setting. Anything above lowest and the analog stick sends the car swinging on the slightest movement As others have said here are my thoughts Most realistic: Assetto > Grid > RR3 Prettiest: RR3 /tie/ Grid > Assetto (Grid is only one with customizable graphics options) (Grid is only one with car damage / performance affecting) Most Cars: RR3 > Assetto > Grid Most Tracks: RR3 > Grid > Assetto All three list having all control options though for almost 2 years now controller support has been broken on RR3 (only works if offline). All three list having an upgrade system though I never actually did an upgrade in Grid. Grid has the most realistic career system of the three. GPS likes this.
