Why would you need "imps" for a free game? Try it yourself. It's mindless fun and there are virtually no timers. It fills practically as fast as you play. In fact if the "timer" in this game is an actual problem for you...you need more things to do # And I don't mean you specifically...I'm talking about the complainers that apparently didn't even try it. I'd be the first to complain if it shut me out after an hour...but it doesn't.
The thing is, if we move those two pages of posts into the general section and rename the thread containing them "I hate timers", no one would know what game this was even about. As for imps, we could discuss how much game time the ingame energy can provide, how to maximize that gametime and still be able to make certain gear and characther builds if applicable. We could also discuss prodution values. Does it feel like a reskin or does it have it's own flavor? Does it seek to merely be an IAP vehicle or is it instead trying to be more of game? Does it feel like the devs care? That is all stuff we could discuss, instead of folks moaning about a buisness model repeatedly in every thread they can. We can help devs make their games fair, and improve their interaction with the community. All these "Freemium LOL" posts show the devs is that the community doesn't care, and if the community doesn't then why should they care? There is only hostility for them, not the oppritunity to learn and grow. Just discouragement, the illusion that no one really wants to play your work, so why strive to be your best? You know what that scenario is? It's just dang sad.
I agree with you, but i just don't have time to try the game. So i come here, check first imps, and as i see there are timers, i quit and try another thread.
I think it's just the idea of them. If they are not a big deal and refill easily, then why even include them in the first place? People, myself included, view them as an unnecessary cash grab, when in fact you may never have to spend a Dime. I did try the game and played through the first few levels as I love dual stick shooters. I thought the graphics were beautiful and drew me in. However, I found the controls lacking. The aim, for me, was off and found it was taking many tries to hit my intended target. There also wasn't much animation for the main character as he just kind of moves around upright. The controls on a Halo SA are much tighter.
Ok, here's my impressions. It's a game, the controls are very loose. The visuals are quite pleasing in a cell shade-esque style. The environments are pretty lush. The aiming is very disfuntional and semi broken. I can aim at something only to have my munitions fire from the back of the weapon, 180° from my aim. The structures can be walked directly through, i.e: walk directly through walls, no need to bother with doors. In summation, games are judged based on comparison to other similar games. So by my estimation this game is very glitchy and highly unpolished. So, for whomever wanted more than this game isn't worth your time, there you go. And as far as posting that a game is terrible and the developers' feelings, if I were a dev and my asset was very poor, I would certainly want to hear the truth about it. After all, when my product at work is rubbish I'm told directly in no uncertain terms and I amend it and try for better next time. If my work does indeed suck, I want to be told so. Thanks and cheers all.
If you want to see a dual-stick 3rd person shooter done right, see Bullet Time HD. It's a 5 year old game and it will always hold up.
You are way off base. Most people say things because they actually do care. Pertaining to this game I actually still have it installed hoping the devs will listen to the feedback and incorporate changes. That's the entire process of this forum. If a pay model is in a game then it should be discussed. When I worked for Microsoft I was a forum manager for a game we were making called Fighter Ace and Fighter Ace 2. The things posted on that forum pale in comparison to what you see here. I would receive threats. Somehow a group got my up address and I was attacked with DNS attacks. I had to get Microsoft engineers involved and installed nuke nabber until we found all of their accounts and I machine banned them all lol. But no matter what was posted I'd do my best to give the complaints to the programming team so we could find solutions to make people happy yet keep the vision of the game intact. I wanted people to tell me the negatives. I'd go play the game with them to see what they we're talking about. The same goes here. Many devs take criticism on this forum and turn it to positives. For instance take Extreme Gear. The pay model was discussed and they are making changes. They didn't run off and hide. They talked to even the most rude people. I'm sorry you hate to see pay model discussions but if it's in the game it's fair game. And the energy system does seriously impede this game in later levels. I know because I'm still playing it. The controls are off so in later levels you die quickly and repeatedly and the energy bars drop fast to nothing. So this is why I'd like a permanent solution that I'd actually be willing to pay for. The controls in this game really need work more than anything else. I watch rockets fly behind me! I actually do like this game and with some tweaks it can be a kick ass game. That's why in my original post I encouraged everyone to play it. I want the devs to talk on here good or bad. I mean when you go into those levels you can't tell me they aren't beautiful. You know they took time to do them. This game can be tweaked. It can be an amazing dual stick shooter. Billy
Very intuitive perspective you've gotten there. I always hold your accessments in very high regards and this one is right up there with the best of them. Interesting background, didn't know that you had the expertise. I have to agree with you on this one. The game has obviously had some major attention given to the visuals but then the controls seem to have taken a back seat which to me is inherently just as important to the games functionality. I rlly like the game but it needs some tlc. I can't deal with the control issues. Cheers Billy.
Unfortunately they did not fix the controls. Weapons fire wildly still. I even had to restart the entire game when the tutorial stalled because I tapped the screen. Argh. Has anyone purchased the no energy deal? Does it get rid of the forced ads too? It says nothing about it in the deal and there is no separate option to get rid of the forced ads that pop up. Billy
