You are missing the point entirely. Nobody has said that. As for KOTOR, it is just only of the most regarded wRPG of all time, even if you like it or not. Some might argue that the port of Bioshock is the only that look like crap, but each one to their own. You act like your taste on games is supreme, but it is not. For me, for instance, KOTOR work awesomely on Ipad (in fact, more enjoyable than on consoles) while Bioshock doesn't translate too well and it is better played on console. You think diferently? That's okay. The problem is that you seem spoiled and are complaining because things are not the way you think it ought to be and you expectations are unrealistic, to say the least.
This guy summed it up pretty good. https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/47r0jl/assassins_creed_identity_ios_facts/
"I wish it was a bit more like Gameloft's crazy Backstab lol." I was enjoying the hell out of that game before I got distracted and started playing something else. Sadly it seems to crash on iOS 9 which means I can never finish it.
Agree. The Backstab's sandbox felt more open. I enjoyed the fact that you had to go to a certain points on map to accept different mission, versus the way this games missions turned out to be. Also, the combat system of Backstab, when youre fighting multipple enemies and countering incoming attacks, was way more fluid.
I enjoyed Backstab. Maybe not the best game ever made but they obviously put a lot of effort into it. I miss Gameloft's older premium games. Fun times.
Always put off purchasing that game hoping for a 99¢ holiday sale...waited too long and then found out it wasn't running on new iOS versions. That's what I get for being cheap lol
Is there a single post in this thread that is actually about Assassin's Creed Identity and not a complaint?
Pocketgamer has a video review that seems to be pretty fair: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPad/Game+of+the+Week/feature.asp?c=69062
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=282667 There's even a thread for complaining. People should talk more about the game here.
I just want to bitch I'm mad that all games aren't free and console quality with an open world that puts minecraft to shame Why will someone not go bankrupt trying to do this I can't understand He says with a ton of sarcasm One day mobile will reach the level some people think it should already be at Patience my gamer friends one day this mobile device will put all consoles to shame and also mobile is going to be the number one VR platform so just remain patient It's a growth process I have been gaming since NES days and NES didn't grow into ps 2 in a few years but mobile is making huge steps in the short time it's been around and the future is a good one
I agree that mobile gaming has a lot of potential and we've already get so far already on so little time. Who knows what might happen on future? For now, we have to take it for what it is, unless we want to get frustrated. It has plenty of great games. Probably a lot more than one can play on multiple life times. And games that fits all tastes: rpgs, adventures, fps(not the best device to play the genre, though), racers, interactive fiction, platforms etc. However, people seem to complain about what it lacks instead of enjoying what we have. For them, mobile probably is not the best option at the moment, which might change down the road. I would love playing Gta V, Mass effect trilogy, Fallout 3 and 4, Last of Us, Until Down, The Witcher 3, Dragon Age, Skyrim and many more on Ipad. But it doen't prevent me to enjoy games like Device 6, A Dark Room, Monumuent Valley, KOTOR, Oceanhorn, Galactic Keep, Swordigo, Crashlands, Banner Saga, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Grim Fandango, Secret of the Monkey Island, Phoenix Wright, Ghost Trick, Space Marshals, Marvel Future Fight, Grand Theft Autos, Raymans, Horizon Chase, Implosion, infinity Blade, Sorcery!, 80 Days, Limbo, Thomas Was Alone, Gemini Rue, Aralon, Ravensword, Dylands, Avernum, Avadon, The Room, Papers Please, Knights of Pen and Paper, Broken Age, Sword and Sorcery, Year Walk, Alto's Story, Her Story and many many more.
Sooner or later, every server get shut down. I can't play half the MMOs I started 10 years ago and I don't think I can play online to any Call of Duty except the last two, maybe. And we're talking about $60 games. We're talking about a $5 game here! I don't think I will be playing this for more than a few months, but even it it was for a year after which they'll shut down the servers, I'd say the cost will be totally worth the experience and the service time. There are people with several purple outfits and items after just 2 days of playing and no IAPs, so you can totally enjoy everything the game has to offer just spending $5. And then again there's already a second campaign waiting to be unlocked, so it's fair to presume they won't shut down anything in a couple of months. I know that many people believe that paying the price of a game entitles to using the game whenever they want for the time being, by in the EULA it is fairly clearly stated that you are buying the ability to play the game as long as the publisher gives you that opportunity. You're not buying ownership of the game. This is true for EVERY game. If you don't like this, don't play games.
You can absolutely still play the Multiplayer of Call of Duty games from over half a decade ago. I don't know where you're getting the idea from that they would shut down the multiplayer after just two years, it's a popular franchise. The point people are making here is that this is a singleplayer game, and because of that should not require an internet connection. Just because it's legal for developers to do this doesn't mean people shouldn't be allowed to complain about it. I mean really, what benefit does the connection requirement have for consumers? It's just another form of DRM that mainly hurts paying customers and another possible reason why the game may stop working sooner rather than later that could have easily been prevented. Now what's actually unreasonable is to ask the developers to support the game for all eternity. If iOS 19 breaks compatibility with the game then tough luck, it's not worth it for ubisoft to fix that for the one person who might still be playing it at that time. What I will say is that from what I can tell apple should probably work a bit harder on keeping new versions of iOS compatible with older apps. TL;DR: Just because businesses can make anti-consumer decisions doesn't mean you as the consumer should support them making them. ----------- Thanks for your impressions lord-sam, I imagine that's about how I'll find the game once the android version is released, though I'll wait for the game to actually be out on android before going into detail myself. Of course I'm sure people will tell you that $5 games are immune to any kind of major criticism...
The game has asynchronous multiplayer elements (recruiting other players' assassins for bonuses and metcrnary skills), just like Dungeon Hunter 5; besides, requiring an Internet connection means they can add timed events and stuff, besides being a good anti-piracy means. But most importantly, it runs on a mobile device, which is expected to be always connected, otherwise 85% of the things the device can do become useless. I couldn't agree more with all the unrest an always-online requirement would cause if the game was running on a GameCube (how many people did actually buy the network adapter for that console?), but we're talking tablets and smart devices in 2016, they HAVE to be connected to work as intended. When I am abroad and have no international plan for data, I simply don't use my phone, if just to take quick notes or listen to previously downloaded music. But usually my music library sits on the cloud. 90% of my apps and games are almost useless without connection. Even those which actually work offline (like Phienix HD) will lose some part of it (the online location based rankings for Phoenix) so that I just know I won't play them. And I can easily live with it.
DRM Shenanigans ^: This is to the great benefit of Gameloft, not the consumer despite it being an anti-piracy means. It is also the main reason why I deleted it within 10 minutes due to the inconvenience, most especially after being able to play the previous titles OFFLINE. ^: Correction: They HAVE to be connected to perform intended online functions; these devices work fine both online and offline; it's just a matter of content and features that work locally/remotely. ^: For me personally, I am almost your polar opposite. I like cartridges, CD-ROMS, GD-ROMS, Blu-Ray discs, and many other proprietary material that I can actually have in my hands; intellectual property is the name, not being screwed over by servers is the game. I like being able to play a game anywhere at any given time without relying on anything but the device itself, not to mention, I love experiencing games that can push the hardware to the limits while at the same time, not causing any additional drain on battery life like most online-only games do. I'm not interested in leaderboards, I'm interested in the pure game itself. Most of my music is backed up on flash drives and 90% of my apps and games run offline like butter with no stutter. I am not dependent on global multiplayer interaction, I thrive offline.
This online only is a little bit far fetched. Take Fifa 16 for example! They clouded an excellent gameplay with tons of useless stuffs. Modern Combat 5, Dungeon Hunter 5 and so many more! Why does it have to be this complicated? I tried to stick around some of these games but ultimately I had to quit. Too bad indeed.
