Game Impressions First: after the initial 1GB download, you'll have to sit thought a further 1GB download on the first opening of the app. Graphics: I'm playing on an iPad 3 and iPhone 5s, so whilst I'm not expecting the best possible, I still expect some standards. Compared to Gameloft's Backstab for example, the graphics suck immensely. Fairly flat, boring textures; bad pop-in; awful character models beyond description; only about 2 or 3 civilians populate the world at any one time. Gameplay: NOT open-world at all as we know it on the consoles. 'Freedom' of movement? Nope - complete lie... can't hop over the slightest of obstacles, he just runs around them. No control over scaling buildings, it just auto-plays til he reaches the top. And you can't just climb any building you want, only a select few - and you have to do it in exactly the right place, where it has been coded to be climbable. Extremely disappointing, especially since that's what makes the franchise so unique, and that's what was promised in the description. Killing, attacking, assassinating - all extremely boring and easy. It's simply pressing one button at the right time. There's no sneaking, defending, parrying. You have to do the missions in a very linear way - no speeding ahead or going outside of the lines. I caught up with a thief I was tasked with killing, but it wouldn't let me attack him, it just let him run past me! Crazy, and really kills the mood. There's also 100% sync tasks such as 'don't kill anyone but the intended target.' But this is made impossible as guards line the linear path that you cannot stray from, who attack you at even the slightest sight of you. And you have no way to quit engaging in combat, you are forced to fight if they come onto you. So basically you're forced to fail the 100% sync. No fun. Mission length seems nice, considering it's a mobile platform - not too long. Controls: suck big time. What have they done?! Design: Nice and nasty. There's some great artwork on the menus, like oil paintings of landscapes and assassins. Then hit by the nasty health bars etc. in-game. They don't fit the AC style one tiny bit, and it's so noticible. Music: Great. Typical AC style, if a little short and repetitive. Story: Hard going. I play video games because I want to be told a story in an interactive, fast-paced way. But this game tells it's story through a series of Codex pages, like diary entries. So basically, a wall of text after every mission. Really pulls you out of the game a bit. And it seems like it was written by an amateur, with grammatical errors sprinkled around the place. The story itself does seem quite nice, though, which is obviously a good thing! Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with this installment. If I were met with the game as it is, I'd probably be thrilled. But the fact it was billed as a free-moving game with all my favourite features in, just like on the consoles, and then didn't deliver any of that stuff, I find it difficult to accept it!
I've come very close but usually bump into someone near the last waypoint or stumble a little & I get beat. Once you lose a few times you can remember the path you need to take but the the dude is quick so you need a near perfect run. I'm taking a break from it and will attempt later in hopes of beating speed racer #
Couldn't tolerate the clunky, crappy controls. And apparently, this was on soft launch for a long time and they didn't bother to improve them; don't think they can do much now, it's too late. Refund it is.
I must be playing a completely different game than most people posting. I'm having a blast playing ACI. No issues.
Me too, I’m now up to the Veteran level contract missions with all outfits unlocked apart from the top end Lammergeier from the Heroic Shop. That one’s going to take a bit of work to obtain!
Ya, I honestly have no idea what they're talking about. Game plays fluidly, controls are good, graphics are great. C average ppl make up the mass majority. Some ppl wouldn't know the truth or a good thing if it crashed onto their heads like a 10 ton safe. Smhroflmmfao.
Dont't worry, you are not alone on having fun with this one. Girlfriend and I spend close to five hours today taking turns on contracts. Really cozy and a great way to enjoy AC.
Suck immensely That's a little overboard there. I think this is one of the best looking games on iOS. The draw distance is kind of bleh but no biggie to me. Have you played Backstab recently? It's not even in the same league as this game. It has hilariously low detail character models, and janky ass animations. I think that game made great use of colors to provide for an interesting world, but I'd in no way ever say it had better graphics than ACI. I'm not even sure how you can post that with a straight face. Also saying there's "only about 2 or 3 civilians populate the world at any one time" is just plain factually incorrect. It's not big crowds like on a console, but you don't have to actually lie to make that point. Again, a lot of this is just factually incorrect. You can hop over obstacles, which ones are you referring to? The climbing IS pretty automatic, but could you imagine if it wasn't? It would be garbage with the touch controls. I've had so many levels where you're running across the rooftops, trying to focus on keeping a target in your sights, and with all the clotheslines or narrow boards I'd run across in order to keep up, if the climbing and parkour stuff wasn't at least partially automated it would be a frustrating mess. I mean, imagine trying to walk across a two by four while in the heat of chase if the game allowed you to literally climb and go anywhere. I promise you from the bottom of my heart that this would be an awful experience. The only places you CAN'T climb are completely flat walls, or the borders of the levels. Which actually makes sense: You'd need windowsills or doorjambs or whatever to be able to climb up a wall, it would be kind of silly if you could just magically scale a flat surface like Spider-Man. Also, I initially hated the little white guide line thingy, but that thing is brilliant. It allows you to see what paths you can take as you're moving which makes it a really fluid experience to go from running through the streets, heading up a building, running across rooftops, and heading back down to the streets, for example. I would suggest reading the description again. It doesn't promise any of the things you say. It says "Freedom of movement" which it DOES have. Because you interpreted that to mean "exactly like the console games!" is your own fault. Hmmm, I'd say this is more of a preference thing, but again you are saying things that aren't true. There IS sneaking, defending, and parrying, and battles certainly aren't always easy. Like the climbing and parkour, the combat is heavily streamlined for mobile otherwise it would be a tire fire trying to do too complex of stuff with the virtual controls. I actually agree with this a lot. I thought it was annoying in certain missions that you can't simply kill the target if you happen to catch up to him before they reach the "trigger point" or whatever. Luckily most the missions are much more open-ended in how you go about completing them. Uh, that big arrow button in the lower right corner? That allows you to flee from battles. Some good points. A lot of that comes down to individual tastes. Would be cool if you could elaborate beyond "suck big time" when talking about the controls. Fair enough, but I actually prefer the way the stories are told here. I'm not forced into watching a cutscene, or forced to skip it and miss out on the story because I might not be in a position to sit and pay attention to a story sequence at that particular time. I love that I can go into the codex whenever I want and read up on the lore as much as I want. I can easily skip any "walls of text" and read them at my leisure, and the important bits that have to do with each mission are nicely summarized on the loading screen leading up to the mission's start. I love that. Again, I think you make a lot of good points, but you're a victim of your own misguided expectations. I don't know anywhere where it was "billed as a free-moving game with all my favourite features in, just like on the consoles." It's billed as an action RPG made for mobile. I also would be curious how much of it you played? You make a lot of incorrect statements in your assessment, which leads me to believe you only played a mission or two before writing all this. I'm going to repost what I said in our TA chat: Think about it. This game quietly launches from some unknown dev, the first few forum posts are people wondering what it's like and hoping someone TOFTT for some impressions. Someone finally does and HO-LY SHIT. A full-blown assassin game made with mobile in mind. Bite size missions, controls that makes sense for a touchscreen, a pretty extensive character progression system, multiple levels of loot and even some crafting(!), a decently-lengthed campaign that tells an interesting little story and introduces you to the mechanics of the game but then ALSO an infinite number of contract missions that offer multiple difficulties and rewards and a number of interesting scenarios. Think about if this game launched WITHOUT the Assassin's Creed name. People would be losing their minds over it. It's a very intelligently thought out game for mobile. It's like the Rayman Run games. Sure, the full-blown platformers from console would have been great. But the people who want something like that on their mobile device are a very tiny audience. Instead they made something more fitting for mobile and for a wider audience, and it's brilliant. I think while there's certainly a handful of folks who would want just a straight up full-blown AC game on mobile, for the vast majority of people it wouldn't be fun, just frustrating. This game for sure isn't perfect, but it would at least be nice if people could judge it on its own merits, rather than comparing it to the full console games simply because that's what they wanted in their own mind. Sorry for the huge post, just wanted to respond to all that.
Thank you for this, I've been trying to write something here, but English doesn't come easily to me and I take forever to write longer posts. I agree with you, and your last point strikes true, I believe. If there were no expectations whatsoever, people would love it. But they'd still complain about the online-only requirement, and I'd still understand why. But other than that, there's no reason not to get this game if you have any passing interest in the genre at all. Believe me guys, once you get the hang of it, you'll be flying over renaissance Italy, throwing coins on the ground, pulling off assassinations from the roof, and seamlessly blending in with groups of wandering monks. And you won't even care about the minor faults the game may have, because you'll be having fun! This game is worth it, my friends, go get it!
Hi, how to obtain the red heroic stuff ? The ones to unlock the initiate missions. Can find them in store or missions rewards. Thanks
Do you mean the hero tokens, the red currency used in the heroic shop? You earn them by doing contracts.
There's no way to change your profile name is there? Does someone mind helping me out for a sec? If you go to the settings menu and scroll down to support, the first option allows you to e-mail...whomever you're supposed to e-mail, right? Do you mind telling me what the support e-mail is? i.e. if you actually use the mail app on your iDevice. I avoid that bloody thing like the plague and don't have anything set-up.
[email protected] This is based on the first email option. Each category has a slightly different email though.
Thanks buddy. Sent them an e-mail. Let's see how this goes. Also, it's only now that I realize just how ingrained the online aspect of the game is and I think at this point it would be absolutely insane to get rid of the online requirement.
From my experience, you'll probably only be able to get in touch with customer support through the mail app. And there doesn't seem to be one specific support e-mail. If you associate any e-mail address to the mail app and press that first option in the "Support" Menu, the mail app will open. The bottom of the text will have information specific to your profile, and the e-mail will be sent to a support address specific to the country you're from (i.e. [email protected] is the mail for the Brazilian/Portuguese territories). Not the most streamlined process for getting in touch with customer support, I'd say.
