Funny... Tonight I watched the video 2 times but received only 1 Token. Tsc... Gameloft anyway... Is there a game on Earth with more Bugs than Asphalt 8?
Gotta love how 1/2 of season 9 is completely blocked by an IAP wall. Yes I'm sure paying like 7000 tokens for a car that I'll probably never use, just to get 5 stars, is worth it. You'll be lucky to get 7000 in a YEAR's worth of playing this game. Whoever set the IAP prices in this game is seriously retarded. $30 USD to unlock ONE car? Lol. Then again I'm not surprised either since this is Gameloft we're talking about, probably the greediest devs in the iOS industry there is.
The reason I play Gameloft games is the fact that I remember what they were before the freemuim takeover. You want bad? Go check out EA. All this really boils down to a choice whether or not to play the game, as at this point nothing can be done as Gameloft has the money rolling in effectively and if I were them I wouldn't want less of it. Gameloft is a business.
You are right on the point about it being substantial for players like your daughter, but giving someone like her 5 tokens instead of 2 isn't going to make them play/pay any less than they have currently. The point I am suggesting is for GL to find a good balance between giving players incentives without hurting their own bottom line. IMO a minor increase to 5 tokens instead of 2 is in both parties' interests. In the mean time, I noticed we can watch 3 videos daily now, with one worth 3 tokens, so now it comes to 5 tokens. Good change I guess. Might be your connection, sometimes I get no credit as well. Like Martin have said, some players have already gotten over 16K tokens since the system was introduced. For newcomers, it isn't really fair but even 7000 tokens isn't entirely out of reach. The point is not to spend your hard-earned tokens on anything you like but rather be strategic in investing in purchases that allow you to earn more token rewards that build up and snowball from that. While I would agree the prices on some cars are quite outrageous (12K for 9FF), most cars <5K are quite reasonable considering you can probably earn that much in a month or two.
I seriously did not expect that much of a difference! I probably earned only 3,000 Tokens in comparison to you 16,000 Tokens! So that's how huge the gap is. Yeah, I do agree with on GL's position. As a player, it is easy to get flabbergasted at the ridiculously low amount of Tokens earned from the videos. When you are the player, it also means you are the consumer. The consumer "wants" things while the service provider "gives" things. When we see it from Gameloft's views, it just doesn't seem as greedy anymore. By the way, have you heard of Game Dev Tycoon? The developers knew their games were going to be pirated so they decided to release the full game for free, but added this in to the free version: https://torrentfreak.com/game-pirates-whine-about-piracy-in-game-dev-simulator-130429/ The game is about making games and selling them...so the anti-piracy method is to let the players have a taste of having their game pirated and earning literally nothing. Doesn't that post show how ironic it is? When confronted with the same situation, the players do the exact same thing as the developers "How do I stop piracy?". Yet, they always blame developers for not giving things for free and simply pirating everything. To be honest, just complaining is fine though. I mean, sometimes people just want to release their stress that has accumulated for some time. Sending hate mails to Gameloft and getting angry at their Community Managers is another thing xD
Concerning tokens / video: Principally I would support the idea of more tokens per video. In my oppinion, if someone is watching each day 2 videos he should be able to buy some cheaper token car from it. With the present rate you cannot even afford Dezir. So 3 per video (2 videos per day) would be intersting, it would be 300 per year, still not much, but plus some small winnings of 10-20 / week, one has then 1000 in a year and can buy a cheap token car. In that case I don't see a real problem in lowering the token value for all players. But it's still a gift and this has influence on the rate others buy that stuff. Anyhow, if each free token lowers the probability that someone buys them is hard to say. Some that get some more for free might think, ok let's buy 1000 more and I can afford a car for 2000 tokens. But this is all theory. Concerning problem with token video: The bug with one token per 2 video also happens to me sometimes until ~ 2 weeks. But I agree can be connection, the video is rather fragile. It must run until then end otherwise you get nothing. If some connection problem at the end occurs, you will get nothing. Concerning difference between players: That difference is something that will always happen in such games. There are more and more items and cars, so having everything gets more and more expensive. In addition you are only competitive in events when you have maxed and highly proed cars and also many cars including a lot of expensive ones. As veteran you had much more time to earn, farm, win whatever items than someone starting now. This will never change and I think at present the gap even opens more and more. It is not only that I won 16.000 tokens, I also won cars with a value of 28500 tokens and decals worth 10000 tokens and in addition there are the won cards. In this frame one has to see season 9. It is the pro season, as I have 90 cars, there are only 5 open events in S9 for me. The game must also be interesting for veterans and pro drivers, so they have to include stuff that looks for beginners unachievable.
I don't have an account but can anybody post on that gameloft suggestions thread that we should be able to chose when to apply free upgrades to our cars please. To think one free S class upgrade can be used for over half a million but we are forced to use it on a 3000 credit upgrade is totally lame!
i think it was on the original list, Vibes, so it may be under consideration. but I'll add it to the official thread anyhow.
To take this one step further, I'd like to see a system where you can adjust the car rank. In other words, if I've Max/Pro a car, I can choose to run it at any level I want by making that adjustment upgrading the tuning or dialing it down within the parameter of that car and how many upgrades I've applied to it. In the last week, my little 1386 Survolt has gone up against way too many triple-boosted 1440 Biomes and Furais. With as important as the Biome has been throughout its life in TLEs, who hasn't got theirs at 1590?
Players prefer 100 Tokens a day. 1000 Tokens a days will be fine. Come on, Gameloft, we want free lunch.
Deleted data/ cleared cache multiple times on my Android device, no use whatsoever. Still no free refill/ 1 x token video. Any other suggestions? This happened for the last 3 months. Made ticket and still no answer while i've been paying a lot for this crap game. On my daughter's device/ account she gets every day 2 video for tokens and 1 video for free refill while i didn't pay a dime for any of the game's features on her account.
I've had the ads and refills for a total of 4-5 weeks months ago, have made many complaints to cc but I just get the cache reply. Another player (maybe Juan?) had mentioned something that might tie in with horrorist's scenario, that when he made a purchase the ads stopped. That doesn't really fit in with my experience as I've been buying throughout since the winter update but who knows. It could be a number of different things tbh, I know another player who told me they got a reply to a complaint about it that said GL stopped it because it was being abused. Another player (maybe me now that I think on it lol) got a reply saying they offered different promotions in different countries. All in I don't think there is a clear process for it, it would be nice for some clarity.
Events only happen every 2-3 days, and the max token prize for each one is only like 200-300. It's pretty much impossible to get those prizes anyways as 99% of the time it's reserved for "top 100" or "top 50" or even "top 10". There are probably at least hundreds of thousands of players worldwide, what are the chances of getting that prize? I'm not even saying I'm a complete beginner, I'm getting better and better, achieving top 1000 now and getting lots of perfect runs, but seriously top 100?? That's completely impossible for anyone who is not a hardcore expert at this game. The only way you'd get 5000 tokens "every months or two", is if you win every single event. That's certainly not what "most people" can do, more like 0.01% of the players. Is there some method of obtaining tokens that I'm not familiar about? I have not spent a SINGLE token on anything, in fact I didn't even buy a single storage upgrade, and I don't even have 1000 tokens, let alone 5000. What's the problem here? They reward next to no tokens for players like us. Half the matches don't even have a single token reward for finishing first, or top 1000. The other half rewards a measly 10... is this a joke? They might as well just reward 0 tokens. 10 tokens every 3 days... that's about as much as watching those ads for 1 token each. So every 1-2 weeks or so, I'll have earned enough tokens to buy 3 more tries at a competition (gas refill), lmao. Anyway I'm not expecting Gameloft to be any less greedier, but because they are this greedy and unfair towards casual players there is absolutely no way this company will ever get a single penny from me, and I'm sure lots of people think the same. On the contrary I have no problem supporting devs who has more balanced IAP models.
It is rather unfair for casual players, I guess the example with Martin isn't very valid for the average player. What I was suggesting was only the possibility for a skilled player if they kept at the grind. GL purposely set up the reward tiers to give higher rewards to more experienced/paying players so that if you were a casual player but decided that you'd like to be competitive, you would have to spend money to buy tokens in order to catch up with the rest of the field. Similarly, if you were a casual player, you shouldn't mind missing a few competitive cars for the TLEs because you are not trying to compete to win the top tier prizes. However, if you ever do decide to compete for those top tier prizes, you would either have to spend some money to purchase tokens in order to catch up (since it is likely that a casual player haven't played as long/accumulated as much tokens vs. experienced player). In other words, there is a "barrier to entry" intended to induce token purchases. Nonetheless, I do agree with you that the current IAP model isn't very attractive for the average player. Though I do think a few changes like slightly higher token rewards for videos and lowered prices for cars in the range of 2K~5K tokens would be much welcomed by the community.
