Wow this game is beautiful but very hard for a ol' man like me.

Fellow racer Bullwinkle posted a pretty reasonable buying guide for the first six seasons. Hope that helps.

BTW updated my "thread front page" article. There is a list with remarkable forum postings (sroll far down). Do you like it? Anything wrong or missing? Thx for reading.

    @Habakuk: Thanks, that helps! :)

Your first page hints are buried and hidden under the leaked screenshots (those look pretty good btw, not sure if my iPhone 5 will indeed show those graphics once I get the supercars or if they're from iPad 4 or if they're just concept renders).

Will read thoroughly on the way home.

The Sesto Elemento is a dream made true for me. It handles amazingly well at top speed, which means less crashes. I've managed a no-crash full lap with a complete slide along the S turns in Monaco (normal) in the Sesto Elemento.

I'm extremely happy with the purchase now. The cars I've bought (and order) are:

    D and C: car packs.
    B: Ferrari 458 Italia (1st) and Citroen Survolt (2nd).
    A: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (1st) and Corvette C7 (2nd).
S: GTA Spano (1st). Planning to buy the Lamborghini Veneno.

From there, what I'm doing is centering on upgrading the 1st car I bought for each class, instead of buying other cars. I generally upgrade the spec which is least evolved in a car, such as the nitro of the 458 Italia or the Sesto Elemento. From there onwards, I upgrade the rest of specs according to the money I have. This strategy is working quite well, even though I'm beginning to notice that cash is coming in with more difficulty (I'm at season 8 with around 615 stars already).

EDIT: @Paul202: the F12 is around 50k coins cheaper than the Sesto Elemento, but I think it's worth getting the Sesto Elemento for A class and the 458 Italia for B class. You'll get a lot of good rides from them without upgrading specs.

EDIT 2: has anyone got the cars to oversteer and crash at high speed? I've had it several times, specially at high speeds with high end cars. You are going for a perfect run, you try to turn very slightly, you get a hump on the street and BAM! WALL DEATH! I'm playing touch controls. It doesn't seem a bug though, just oversteering and losing control of the car.

    Fine.

Asphalt 8 could be a good reason to buy an iPad (but wait for iPad 5 if you want a new one). ;)

Love that gray skull that shows up in the little map (for a very short time) when an opponents gets eliminated. :D They've put an amount of detail into this software… Incredible! Still discovering new things in career mode.

No its not a bug just realistic (semi anyway) reaction of the car, speed and bumps.
Was quite surprised (ie very) when it happened first but love that its there now.
I've also spun out, had the camber/surface of the road throw off the car steering, power slides (into walls) and just loads more little detail that add to the element of the cars interaction with the road at speed.
Still surprised at those little things when they happen because wasn't really expecting that kind of detail. It works very well though.

I find this game is too grindy if you don't want to pay for IAPs. I think I've hit my limit, the money I'm making per race so I can afford a new car is too damn low.

It depends a lot on your car decisions. I have made a couple o bad decisions which has meant I had to do some 'grinding'. If you avoid making bad choices, and pick cars that will help you progress through to the higher levels, you will obviously get more money for each race.

However if you get some GC friends with good ghosts, then start competing against them. Racing these makes the grinding bit a lot more enjoyable. So much so that I earned about 30k over the weekend by redoing and redoing the same race to try and beat some ghosts - you would probably call it grinding but to me it was fun.

I find it too unpolished. When the main reason i'm losing a race is because i drive properly (boosting correctly, taking the designated routes, drifting) i realize something is wrong.

Also, all the visual trickery only serves to better help you wreck. I swear i've wrecked just by landing perfectly. Also, i keep wrecking in mid air during barrel rolls. As well, the whole knockdown camera is liable for about 70% of my wreckage.

I really really want to love this title. And the game is much more bearable online (i can even take the grinding) but i wanna have fun while doing it.

    6/10

However, maybe the game is meant to seem unpolished, but is just designed to be so. Perhaps this way people might be quickly persuaded to buy car packs and unlock seasons with cash. But woe be they, as even then that doesn't guarantee a win. Which i like. I like that you have to be proficient with your car. But what's the point when you've led all race, but like a quarter of the way into the second lap BOOM, the cars behind you get some super burst of speed and catch right up with you.

Anyway, i've already seen that some don't have these issues. And i'm happy for those people.

Me? i have LOTS of issues with this title.

I'm tempted to just go back to Asphalt 7.

Grinding isnt too bad. I get 1400 in 3 minutes races which is still isnt that much but at season 5 its good enough. Also i dont bother with barrel rolls unless its required for challenges. Half of the time i crash anyways.

Which race is that? I think I might get similar now I have got my GTR. Got up around 12k in about 3 races!

Its 4th event in season 5. I like it because its drifting and is rather easy to get 1st place even if you crash few times.

If you guys make bad car purchases, then you'll have a tough time progressing late on.

Any advice on a good A class car to start with? I don't mind saving for the elemento, but will something else be a better 'starter'
