I wish I could downgrade to the 1.3.1 version, the most perfect Asphalt 8 version by far, since then everything is a disaster from gameloft, regardless of the new content (new cars and tracks) that the game must have once in a while.
Thanks for the amazing answer. i only bring it up since it is different from pre-software upgrade; sigh. i always pay attention to rank numbers when i race. any other answers?
That's how it has worked for a long time. Your rank goes up, and the breadth of performance of the cars running against you increases. The gap can, and often is, over 100 points greater than a hi-ranked player's car. I do not believe added boosters change that dynamic.
ok i can understand that; i guess i dont know enough about the ranking system. i suppose if i try to counter by upgrading my car, the breadth will increase further? i recenty touched 1700s
ive been focusing on D rank mp, un-modified. and that was great until ~1700s. now i have to run near perfect, with credit boosts, and any mistake is usually a loss on my part; +1(2) for a win, and -5(15) on loss. Nissan 370Z; needs tuning kit, or i get nitro wrecked; it seems like the lightest car weight. the nitro handling is great and allows for error corrections. in comparison, the benz sls doesnt like to turn, and the camaro gs accelerate slow. my skill is not good enough for higher rank cars, and im still learning how to drift wiggle boost (?). i have not upgrade a single car yet (for career mode). if the car is too slow for the challenge, i just dont have the 1st place star yet, although ive managed to get most stars up through season 4. career has crash priority so i focus on good driving and defensive crashing. for example, season 5 FR. Gui Rev recommends a class D rank 995, and I took all 5 stars, unmod and without boost. one of the most challenging so far. to give more idea, i am S5: 76/150, S6 65/165, i do not try S or many A class yet. also, the onyx cup, my fastest time is 58:556, from pole position, surprisingly without any boost, and, nobody else had boost that match either. with boost, i can't break :8XX, and can't really practice cause computers avoid the barrel ramp.
@kayeyearekay If you're focusing on D class, then Mini is the best choice. It has outstanding nitro performance, good acceleration and I find it the easiest car to make stunts, like barrel rolls on flat ramps for example. If you don't max it you'll never get matched with Survolts which are acceleration wreck killers on the start, and you should be fine racing other cars even without regular boosters use
You should try using the Mini Cooper aswell. Very good D class car for multiplayer. The SLS is not a good car at all. The Camaro is good if you can avoid getting knocked out at the beginning (it has good catch up speed and beats pretty much every car around it). Also, your skills will grow over time and a way to do that is adding good players on your Game Center friends list (if you play on iOS). You can race against their ghosts to learn the best tips and tricks for improving your routes in multiplayer. Right now you are on the right path. Just focus on saving up money if you ever want to max out cars.
two mini coop recommendations; ill take it into practice for a day or two before risking my rank . are you saying i can or cannot max out enhancements on the coop? (when i first started, i pumped the nissan, and ran into survolts so i restarted from scratch). something like ~1049 and you will meet the survolt. for a while i even tried running survolt. i dont like that car. as popular as this game is, im surprised there isnt a chart/table of upgrade rank values.
You shouldn't max out the Mini Cooper. With the way the matching system is nowadays, that's a bad idea. You'll get put against Survolts who are faster.
same problem, but coop is even worse cuz stats are slower. my unmod car vs mod cars. either i get a big enough nitro lead from pole, or i start in the back and have to crash everyone (to get ahead); neither is very fun for 'racing'. regardless by lap two, anyone who was at the edge of the radar, is now on my bumper, so long maps with few bottles are lose. i thought reaching a 'high' rank (1700) would be fun, but the gap in matching performance is just too much. ~40 is alright; ~80 is no chance for me. i realize now, i started using boosts to counter the initial increase in performance gap, and now the credit boosts are not enough. losing 40 points has me pretty bummed too... if i ever get back up to 17s, ill probably quit mp all together
I think it's because stock cars have too bad performance compared to even weaker but somewhat upgraded cars and especally in multiplayer it is near impossible to win a race without boosts. It doesn't mean you have to max out your car but you should upgrade at least 1 or 2 levels, especially top speed
I'm getting it too. I think they're gonna be IAP since when u press the banner, it takes you to the place where you buy the car packs
im more worried about upgrading my car 'a little' and then seeing even higher ranked matches. if i'm seeing +~80, and i already know if my car ranks up to ~1049, then i will match vs the 1107 survolt. 1049 - 80, suggests i could possibly upgrade to ~969 and still be safe. from my previous attempts, i tabulated a chart. even tho i have numbers, i am hesitant to try.
Try not to max the top speed of a car u pumping in, around lvl 3-4. Accel is a must(imo), handling and nitro can around lvl 4. My Biome have a lvl 4 top speed, which quite easy for me to win, but now it doesn't matter me whether i win or not. Btw, anyone here wanna race Biome together?
I maxed out the alpha Romeo mito GTA, it's pretty good if you have enough skill. As long as you're not taken down at start...
With the way the matching system works these days, you'll get put against unbeatable cars regardless of what you do, unless you're partial to S class lotteries. I think the Mini works on almost every upgrade level. Granted, half-upgraded Minis have a bit of a niche where they are almost invincible. There's one person in the top 10 who was downright famous for using a <1,000 Mini for a long time. (I have no idea if they still use that car.) But even a fully upgraded Mini doesn't run into real trouble until you get to somewhere between 2,500 and 2,700 world series points. Granted, you'll need the nitro starter to survive the Survolts as your rank increases, and you'll eventually need the tuning kit as well. But again, that's true for every car, once you start encountering cars with a +100 (and more!) rating compared to your car. Anyway, that's my experience after going from 2,1xx to 3,3xx points in a maxed Mini. As always, your mileage may vary. -- EDIT: That new "Oktoberfest in den Alpen" tournament definitely cleared up a misunderstanding. The old Alps track was in Chamonix (France), and the new one is in a fantasy country that's half Austrian and half Swiss, judging from the flags along the track — at least that's what I thought up until now. So I was quite surprised when I learned that this little village among the mountains was supposed to be Munich (Germany). I shall refer to it as Munich (and Munich Reverse) from now on.
What S Class car should I get? I already have the Veneno, should I get the Bugatti or the Agera R next? Or a different one?
