After countless hours of the Onyx tournament, I made a few mistakes. Sleeping. I fell asleep and was so tired, slept through my alarm clock. Even now, every few hours I dose off, wasting more time. Now I'm at the point where I can see that's it's impossible to get top 50. Before I fell asleep the first time. I was rank 56 and climbing. Now I haven't reached 60 since. I'm currently winning 15 points per game and rank 50 is 100+ points ahead, while still playing. Safe to say this is my last MPTLE and probably my last time playing this game. So I'll try to enjoy these last few hours I have.
I am with you on this. I am in with a chance of getting the car but constantly ask myself WTF am I doing??? Getting up at 3am to play a game?? I am so tired I keep making mistakes at everything. My wife is away on holiday so not only do I have this zombie cup to keep me busy but two kids, a job and all the housework to do as well. I am 43 years old and should know better. Can you tell I am a little tired and irritable. Even if I win the stupid car I will probably never use it.
You're welcome Yes it sometimes happens. I have the same problem in some tracks. For example, in Great Wall, if I don't break nitro since start until Buddha's turns (usually with extra tank), drift works correctly. Even though I don't understand how it feels to have a family you have to take care of, I am with you on that case. We have all something else to do, and can't really dedicate more time to A8 just because a single cup gives a car to the top 50. But again, the real problem lies on the rankings you have to acheive in order to get the car: top 50 LOOKS reasonable, but if you take account cheaters, cloud-abusers and multi-account players, among with many determinated players that do give their time, sacrificing some important stuff in the process, it's not. If the car was given to more people, and you're a good time manager, that tournament would have been way more fun, since you wouldn't have to sacrifice sleep or anything just because of it. It's a real shame to see you (probably) depart like that. You're one of the rare breeds that play this game with actual skill and not with cheap tricks (unless we're talking tournaments of course, but if the competition is using extra tanks, why bother holding back, right) and one of the defining pillars of this community. I still wish for cross-platform MP to be implemented, so that I could race with most of the iOS guys (you included, naturally). I guess I won't have that chance. (Yes, I know that him leaving is still in the air )
Yikes, Nemesis. If you really get up at 3 AM just to do a tournament's bidding, then I urge you to stop. Right. Now. This is getting out of hand. If you quit the tournament grind on your own terms, while this tournament is still going on, you'll feel better about it. You'll have nothing to prove and nothing to make good for in the next tournament. There will be no unfinished business. This game is becoming more and more like a drug. It's designed to make us feel miserable, because we can't win all the cars, like we once did. So we're supposed to spend cash to get back the happiness we felt when we first played and won all the cars easily. But like with any other addiction, you'll never get that feeling back. All you'll get is a misery equilibrium. (Sorry for the unrequested sermon. I'm really starting to get worried here.)
Yeah your totally right that's why I'm not One of those Players who Grind,I mean nothing to offend people that do that,but I'm a normal Person who Is 47 years Old has a wife and 2 children and I'm Never going to Grind. I mean I do want that car,but it's just a mobile cargame,which has gone THE wrong Way. What I want to say with this Post is that I'm only going to play normal TLE's and nothing Else.My New in game Is going to go back to Elite Louenn.
Yup it ain't happenin for you, but can't be worse than my situation have had 15 races where i have lost connection today in the midst of the race so dropped a lot of positions, very annoying. I'm 57 right now but not sure I can be bothered to keep going only to see this car available in a couple weeks time, the grind is too hard.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I didn't wake up to play the game but woke up any way so had a go. The drug reference is accurate though. We are given things for free and then once we are used to them they start expecting us to pay or whore ourselves for them. I am seeing this tourney out as that is the way I do things but it has confirmed my belief that this game has gone to Sh!t
I think the same things. Like why am I grinding for a car that will probably be available to everyone in a months time? Wasting my off day to play nothing but Asphalt nonstop. For me, if it was fun, I would have no problem wasting time on it. But it's main purpose is not being fulfilled for me. Like you said aswell, it's a car I'll probably never use again unless it's competent (which most add on cars aren't in relation to A8). Thanks. That would be a good idea but because of the competition between android and apple, I doubt it. The game would be infinitely better because it definitely seems like the competition on android is severely lacking in comparison to apple. The best of the best would rise to the top. Don't we all. When the game was in its prime. That's what this game is in a nutshell. That's what happens to "free games" eventually. One thing I always thought would solve this is having demos for app games. Why would I spend money on something so insignificant if I don't fully understand the game? It's like wasting money to try out a game I might not like. I pay for things that I know what I'm getting from it. Yeah I seen that. You were pretty low, like top 30 atleast. I knew that would happen when I didn't see you play for a couple hours. This is too crazy. Something I thought a long time ago was, why would we have to win cars that they said are coming to the game? We should get them instantly like other racing games I've played have been like. Side note: I'll make a post about how the game could could be improved in a moment. It's like a semi rant, semi praise post.
All of the game is about grinding, how are the TLEs any different? You race the same track over and over again and wait for your fuel to refill. Its still grinding. The fun for me is in MP but although they have made it a more level playing field with the TLEs ,and there are good things about it, it has been wrecked by the reward structure.
Asphalt 8. The game I once claimed to be one of best racing games I ever played. The game that has taken a turn for the worst from the addition of money grabbing features and altering of the game's core gameplay. I will list the things I feel about the game: 1. The game from the beginning was never a flawless game. It always had its problems but the good outweighed the bad. Every so often I would get matched against a car clearly ranked better than me (40-50 points). But for the most part it was a evenly matched game. The grind was easier even though there still was one. The fun factor and replay-ability was high. This is in relation to the once acclaimed multiplayer. 2. The core mechanics of the game are broken. And that is the ranking of cars and car stats. The cars are vastly different from the real life counterparts which is why every add on car makes no sense to real life (P1 is better than Nismo in real life among many examples). The entire nitro statistic is illogical and seems more like what Gameloft thought a certain car's nitro should be (favoritism). The nitro should have always been equal for each car. Multiplayer is based around acceleration and nitro (because nitro bottles) and that alone is game breaking. Any car without top notch acceleration is mostly useless in multiplayer. It's not a race about who is the best driver or clutch-est but about who gets to the bottles first. That's why most games will be won by whoever starts out in front. That's not what racing is about. I benefit from that, considering I have a good connection (the grid is based around the first in the lobby or best connection). But I truly hate that. The grid itself is terribly designed, especially for a game based around who starts in first place and odd balancing between cars. 3. The addition of maps is outstanding. Whatever that is added to keep the game fresh is appreciated (especially if they are good maps). Big ups to the developers for these really nice maps. The lack of gamemodes is disturbing. Playing classic 90% of the time is lackluster. The potential for game modes is extremely high but it's not used. I made a post months ago of game types that would be good to add to the game (in a pm to Gameloft Ryan; who I have great respect for. The problems within the game are neither his or Fabien's fault. They are just doing their job) among other great things to add. Relay racing, separating classic mode into Sprint (one lap) and Circuit (2 or more laps), drifting, drag, etc. Variety is key in successful games. 4. Do not offer Gameloft anymore ideas. Those ideas will be lurked (what Gameloft is doing currently, they see this aswell) and made into money grabbing additions. If they are going to screw us over, atleast don't help them do it. 5. The community deserves more. Meaning. As the consumer we should get basic game elements like being able to play with friends. I'm pretty sure most of us would love playing each other on a daily basis. My Car Challenge idea from some time back would have been perfect in this case. That won't happen unfortunately because Gameloft doesn't benefit from it, they actually lose money. Not buying boosters hurts them. If this game was priced, this would be a reasonable suggestion. But that leads to people not buying because most don't play for a game they have little knowledge of it. Understandable on both parties part. That's all for now till I think of something else randomly.
