:/ I mean it's pretty much exactly opposite of what Asphalt 8 REALLY is. I mean sure you can count this opinion in, but this opinion is, well I can't use proper words to describe this. But it's one's opinion on the game, and I highly disagree with it :p

Well for one I bought upgrades, and two I bought one too many cars. Hypotheically all you'd need is 1-3 cars at most in each class, I made the mistake of buying that or more, but didn't buy the right cars and I spent quite a bit of cash on upgrades. Just save for the quality cars that'll help you finish many events now and when you get further in.

You may have some control over the car during the cutscenes, but the problem is, that it's often impossible to see which way you're going.

I doubt that there's any control though, I can't count the number of times I've died immediately after a cutscene...

Is this true & confirmed? I'd like to know more details on this (my first direct question to that Gameloft person). I never logged in my "Gameloft live" account in A8! (Couldn't find any option for this.) So I doubt that "Gameloft live" participates.

    Thanks in advance for enlightenment!

This depends on where data is saved. When you delete a game (that supports Game Center) on an iOS device normally a dialog box pops up with the question: "Do you want to keep Game Center data? Yes/No" (sorry I don't know the exact expressions because I'm running a German-language iOS). Well, that's nothing new for users who are struggling since five years with storage space on iOS devices (those GC savings eased that A LOT and it worked pretty good in A7 with "Gameloft live"). But it's new for Asphalt because A8 is the first game in this series with Apple's Game Center.

Maybe you can create another Game Center account as some kind of player register/slots (switch accounts). This could work via the Game Center app. Not confirmed, not tested. Any1 (even with another game)? Maybe I'll try that today with an Asphalt 8 installation of a buddy who fresh installed yesterday (via his iTunes account but) with MY GC account because we wanted to try local mp with some cars that I've bought before with my account (if we can't change/switch account): Delete Asphalt 8, reinstall Asphalt 8, looking for Game Center account/scores. It would be optimum if there would exist a clear documentation by Apple and/or Gameloft.

I'd like to see such register/slots for multiple players/scores inside A8. There is a bunch of iOS games supporting this (and in the early video games days it was a pretty common feature; almost all DOS/PC/console games had this). Or something like a temporary guest account.

Sometimes (often) I'd like to give my iPad to a person for trying out Asphalt for some minutes. Okay there is the "Quick Race" option but I'm always afraid that such a person ruins my personal scores because he/she could buy something in the shop (that I don't want) or lose points in my personal online multiplayer rank. So I always have to attend when I give away iPad/A8 to somebody.

Also, an undo/redo function in the shop would be great! Afair there was a "do you really want to buy this car/item?" security instance in A7. That seems to be gone in A8. So keep your fingers under control in the shop. When you accidentally tap on an item it's bought and there is no way back.

I don't recall exactly which game it was (Kingdom Rush?) where you can reset all upgrade items at any time. You'll get "your money back" and can buy new/other items for other towers (here: cars). (P.e. for fully upgrading a certain tower/car for one specific level/race.) Something like that would be great for A8 (sell upgrade items and get your full price game money back) as an option (with separate rankings). This would ease the things a bit. As you can see in this thread some people are worrying if they buy the appropriate item.

Please disarm/ease all things except the pure racing gameplay!

Maybe an option for absolute beginners would be great: A smart automatic proposal/recommendation/guide in career mode. What race next? What to buy next? It must not be so strictly like in Table Top Racing where the upgrade path is pre-scripted (anyway I love it and could imagine it as an option in A8 with separate rankings/scores), but something like that.

A8 is pretty complex with all those seasons, events, races, trophies, upgrades, tiers, cars, tracks, career ranks, multiplayer ranks, "recommended ranks" (for cars), medals, levels, stars, coins, credits, iTunes accounts, Game Center accounts, Gameloft live accounts (?) and so on. Newbies could be discouraged. Create a smart "proceed automatically" mode please. Or upgrade heavily documentation/reference. Thx in advance.

That said I personally never had huge problems with all those off-racing features in the Asphalt series (other than I'd prefer to spend my limited time w A8 on racing and not on pondering about shop items and career tactics; that's why I prefer local multiplayer mode because it's racing ONLY—just create a room and 3, 2, 1, START). There are other racing games where those features are even MORE complex and distracting. I can imagine that it's a bit overwhelming for Asphalt beginners.

Quick question even if it sounds pretty stupid for an Asphalt veteran: What is a "perfect race"?

That is correct, we are working on using Game Center and Game Services more heavily for A8 and our future releases. I don't think we will be relying as heavily on GL Live as in the past.

That's all the info i could find.

It won't last... But I think I still have faster times than him on a couple of races... Although I haven't checked this morning.

My biggest grip is those car specific races, that you cannot beat unless you buy the car, it goes really into grind

Thanks krautboy! I knew that already but it's good to repeat it for folks who didn't read and learned by heart all the almost 1,000 postings in this thread.

All I can confirm is that "Gameloft live" worked pretty well with previous Asphalt versions (there were some hickups at the beginning but I never lost my scores/bought items). The drawback is/was that you needed an additional account. Please free us from passwords!

Please, Gameloft Ryan, tell us MUCH more about A8's save game scores mechanics. Thx in advance.

I personally have A8 on three iOS devices with my GC account (A7 on four iOS devices because it supports iPad 1). A buddy runs his A8 (bought with his iTunes account) with MY GC account (maybe he'll switch to his own GC account; he didn't use GC before anytime and we're hoping that he doesn't need to uninstall/reinstall A8).

That light blue full screen message with "Found different scores in the cloud and on your local device… what to keep?" with a second security instance "Are you sure?" works pretty good so far. I see that OFTEN and always switch to the one with the higher scores—but it can be that the cloud scores have more stars but less points than the local scores or vice versa or with other score items (there are SEVEN, look at the screenshot below); had this on rare occasions with A7 (the numbers didn't differ too much, anyway) but NOT with A8 until now (and I'm sure it wasn't an error on Gameloft's side but a result of my switching devices often).

It's pretty clear after a fresh install on a second device with the same GC account, the iPad screenshot is from my early A8 hours after an A8 install on my iPhone 5 with having accomplished some iPad 4 races before):

(Better keeping local data in this case.) But it can be a bit confusing with those different/same GC accounts if you have more than one iOS device and when you or your kids, parents, buddies are playing on four iOS devices the same game simultaneously. So please update documentation. First world problems, I know. Thx for reading anyway.

Think (or hope) I've been managing my purchases well. I haven't had a huge amount of time to play but have unlocked up to Season 4. What I've been doing is only doing the first level of upgrades when I feel I need them (because they're cheap) and saving the rest for cars.

If I had only one complaint about A8, it's that there are too many car specific events that force you to buy a car to be able to play it. I've skipped a lot of these so far. I can see one or two per season, but it's a bit much with how many are in there now IMO.

A perfect run is going 20 seconds without hitting another driver or a wall.

My complaint on a personal, I-simply-can't-do-this level would be the number of gate drift events. I, well, just can't. I do not play any racing games for precision - never have, never will, I simply want to go as fast as possible and I don't care exactly where I am on the track or how many times I'm playing ping pong with the walls. Unfortunately that means I frequently can't even score a single star on any of the gate drifts - it isn't that I can't trigger a drift, it's that I can't do it at exactly the right point, at exactly the right speed, for exactly the right length of time the game wants, and basically if you can't do that, there's no way you're going to get a podium finish. That's probably going to be what stops me playing, in the end, not the price of upgrades or the specific cars a race wants or anything like that. Not really criticising the game for it - though the option to basically ignore a particular type of event I can't stand would certainly be awesome! - but it's annoying enough I wanted to vent.

Is there an add me thread for this game? I couldn't seem to find me, but I would like to compare some of my times to people that I actually know.

The gate events are my least favorite right now, too.
But, you probably know this already, you can try to get the other two stars as they don´t require that you fulfill the other tasks like getting at least third.
This works for all kind of races and sometimes i take an easy approach and just focus on these stars

I just thought I'd jump into this thread to give my oppinion on some of the things that have been discussed over the past few pages:

IAP - Is this a Pay-to-win game? (Note: I have played up to Season 5 and currently have 235 Stas.)
It's hard to say, since there isn't an exact definition for Pay-to-win, right? If two things are sure then it's that 1. You can buy every car without paying real money (except for the game itself of course!) and 2. The balancing in this game is terrible. Fanboys, you can say what you want about how you can complete the game without spending real money, but the fact is that grinding isn't fun. Being limited to buy certain cars and upgrades isn't fun either. Strange, how Real Racing 3, a freetoplay game doesn't have those problems, right? Because that game actually gives you enough money (but not too much, like previous Asphalt games), and the prices for the cars and upgrades make sense in that game.

The two main problems with Asphalt 8's balancing (IMO) are:
    - upgrades are WAY too expensive. Why does this upgrade cost as much as a car? WHY?
    - replaying races is almost pointless. You get barely any money. If replaying a race would give you as much money as playing it for the first time (and getting all or most of the Stars) things would be fine.

On the subject of there being no online multiplayer on the iPhone/iPod Touch 4
It's definitely not missing because those devices can't have 8 cars on screen at once...

Huh, seems to work percetly fine
Ok, admittedly the framerate isn't so great on the iPod Touch 4 at least (could probably be fixed with better optimization, Real Racing 3 for example both looks and runs better on the iPod Touch 4, although it's kind of hard to compare those two games there), but it's not the ammount of cars that's the problem.

Plus the AppStore description doesn't even mention that this feature is missing on those devices, it promises:
The fact is that iPhone & iPod Touch 4 owners did not get what was promised.

    And finally, two more things:

    1. Just because I can't stand people who really believe this...
What can I say? You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

    2. Does anyone else think that the Monaco track REALLY doesn't fit into the game? I mean it's not the first time that gameloft has reused a track from a previous Asphalt game, but without ANY ramps or changes to make use of the new gameplay features in Asphalt 8, throwing this track in the game just seems lazy on gameloft's side.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I like that you get to drive different cars, something that there was no reason to do in A7. On the other hand, they're pretty stingy with the credits, which means you're mostly buying the cheaper spares.

That's what the game claims, but I hit other cars all the time and still get credit for perfect runs.

I love the gate drifts. It's the infected races I hate. Unless your car is fast enough to stay in front of everybody, the whole race always comes down to what happens in the last 30 seconds.
