Just check your App store - not officially out yet, but you can see the info. Check this out on FB https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10616682_740934439305081_4790946093838586286_n.jpg?oh=e2991cb61824175b376edd68b00e1b5f&oe=54CD1B7C&__gda__=1417838276_c52be5860f125746cd211a811cd8d42a It looks really cool to have races on Aircraft Carrier! Edit 1: 1. It looks there will also be multiple player TLEs 2. Metal exclusive events - meaning A6 and below players are not included, again 3. 4 new collections.
So it comes out today, apparently. Or the 19th Edit: After reading the new things added, this update is obviously not made for me. I'm still stuck on iPhone 5. No S or 6/6+. What's disappointing to me is that Gameloft continues to add content to a broken foundation (speaking on multiplayer). It needs to be fixed before things are randomly added to it. But I digress.
Well, I'm really divided with this future update. On one hand, we have GL's whole pay-to-win shenanigans, and that is pretty frustrating. On the other hand, we have those nifty-looking cars. Especially the Maserati MC12; for those who played the old Ridge Racer games, doesn't the white MC12 remind you of the Kamata Angelus (AKA White Angel)?
Is iOS 8.0 required to download the update? I seem to have a suitable device (iPad 3rd generation with wi-fi), but in the App store, all I'm getting on the Asphalt 8 page is an "Open" button, not an "Update" one. Anyway, I've just started downloading the 859 MB iOS update, so I'll see what happens later... By the way, there's already a San Diego cup that's started on the tournament page.
A bunch of people are complaining about not seeing the update option on A8's Facebook page, so that's probably it... The update is 966 MBs, by the way, and features a brand new season and more rewards for collections. I'm down to just 4 extra tanks (well, 7 when the Roadyacht cup concludes), so it'll be good to get a few more of those.
Okay, it's suddenly working for me now, even though the iOS update download is far from over. EDIT: 20 minutes later and I'm just one quarter of the way through! Good thing A8 is the only "real" game on my iPad (Solitaire/Unpark BMW/4 Pics 1 Word don't count), as it must be taking up several gigs at this point.
First impressions of the San Diego track, wow. It's pretty wild. Tons of alternate routes, jumps, aircraft carriers, tanks. It's gonna take a bit to find the hot route on this one, for me at least. Looking forward to hector speeding that process up, lol. Each season has either 3 new San Diego events or Dubai events, most are still locked for me though because they either require recently released cars or cars that haven't been released yet. San Diego runs smoothly so far on my iPad4 which is still running iOS7.
I can't say for sure, sorry. I haven't looked at the collections since Dubai came out, and that was just to collect what I already had. It looks like there's some new stuff, but it may have just been collections that I had completed but not collected yet. Were there MAX Car Collections before? I don't remember those. If not, those are new, and there's 20 of them.
I guess so, but I like Dubai as well. It just needed to be a little more involved. That won't be a problem with SD. This track is nuts.
I guess all seasons don't have new SD/Dubai events. All of them except 1, 2, and 4 do, and there's new MAX events too for the upcoming cars.
Ok, thanks. I'm not sure if there's anything new there then. Someone who was more familiar with the previous version will have to confirm.
There's a SD MP TLE to get started, only costs 1 fuel bar. I'm not sure how the prizes work yet. Looks like you race against other players, but the final times are put up against everyone, not just those in your race.
As per the promotional material surrounding the update, there are new collection rewards to be handed out. Why is this taking so much time? There are probably almost 90 minutes to go before this download completes! By the way, are the players who don't have the basic software requirements (such as Dark Zero) essentially screwed in a few days' time? I'm still seeing some players on Twitch using the old version, but I have to imagine that it will be phased out pretty soon.
