I don't know. I actually think the balance is good. In Asphalt 7, to me, the game actually seemed too easy. I always seemed to have plenty of cash to buy upgrades and new cars. Here it's competitive. I don't feel like it's a given that I'm going to win a race. But it's far from being overly difficult - at least through season two. A lot of times, it's learning the courses and planning strategy that gets the wins and the money for upgrades and new cars comes with those wins. I don't feel at all that there's a paywall. It's just a refreshingly challenging game that I think would be balanced well even as a premium game. I guess I like to think the IAPs aren't even there. And I'm having fun and liking that it's not a cakewalk like I thought A7 was through much of the game.
The balance is perfectly fine and the IAPs are unnecessary. The game's a ****ing dollar! If you want to try out different cars and upgrade them, why not spend an extra 6 bucks on some IAPs and consider the game a "premium" $7 Gameloft game?
A few pages back, some people were wondering about there being no multiplayer for the iPod 4 and wondering if it's a bug. In response, I don't believe it is. 256 MB of RAM, and low processing power just wouldn't be able to support real time updating of 8 cars, including their different models, and yada yada. Just couldn't happen with an old device like so. Also, I'd like to compliment the difficulty of this game. This game is challenging, and I like that. It took me 6 or 7 tries to get 5 stars on the reverse Tokyo race in season 2, which I loved. This is much better than NFSMW in the fact that it relies more on skill, and less on how much you grinded to get the best cars. 5/5
This game for the "fun factor" and near console like polish, make this one of the best buck games I have ever purchased. And that's over 8000 games worth. Dollar for dollar, this is one of my best value games ever on ios. Sure ain't Angry Birds...
Exactly. NFSMW feels like a grind because you needed to have the best cars. Here I've played races with the first car in a class and may have lost, but learning the tracks, drifting and getting boosts from jumps, etc., I often find ways to win. Regardless of upgrades and mega cars. I've even won races with cars below the "recommended" level. To me, that's more fun than buying your way to victory (and I'm not even talking about IAPs but virtual currency to get insanely good cars that make it easy to win).
Yeah I bought two car packs because I liked the game and because I made some bad purchases >_> but it is money well spent supporting something I like The Car packs are useful. Very.
You should have done what I did and grind endlessly on online multiplayer just to get one car...makes it that much more meaningful
Really enjoying this game and definitely the best asphalt to date. But I'm unable to find info regarding two things... Can my ghost uploaded from my iPad be seen by my android FB friend? Is there any way I can sync my progress between my iPad and Note 2? Thanks
Hmmmm... think i may have just turned the proverbial corner... I picked up the Citroen Survolt and not only am i kicking ass... the game has gotten substantially faster. This is what i'd hoped would be the case. In Asphalt 7 the game was fast right away. There was never any real build up. In 8, however, that is not even the case. My advice to new players: save save save, until you can purchase a B car. Then go back and play the lower tier races.
Is their any way i can restart my career, i have wasted lot of credits on useless stuff.. And which car to select in each class that would be helpful too. Which should be our starting car and ahead cars. Please help.
In other words: It's gets a tiny bit harder. Patience, Gabrien. You'll be able to buy all cars and upgrades. But you have to earn them. This needs some hours and some skills and strategies. No. You can choose your way of progression. Some kind of built-in puzzle. Don't buy too many cars at the beginning. One or maybe two (one electric) of D, C, B. Better upgrade that few cars wisely than buying new cars. I am one of the "pure" racers, too. I don't want to bother too much about shops, buying and upgrading strategies, I just want to race and to win. But I find that they balanced that pretty good. I am sure, as popular as A8 is getting, that there will be some strategies published soon. Admittedly it's harder than Asphalt 7, that's right. But I'm fine with that.
I don't have an issue with the game's difficulty (so far). I don't need a guide to help progress. I simply stated that the game's balance with respect to dishing out coin is clearly affected by the existence of IAP. That is all. I felt it warranted saying, with all the pats on the back to Gameloft being thrown about early in the thread. Yes, it's a very nice game, but the IAP push is just as prominent and just as deplorable (or not - as per one's moral compass) as in other similarly funded titles.
Cars that I would suggest are... D - Audi R8 e-tron - get it straight away because the car you start with is useless. You will have enough when you start the game. Please note as it is an electric car it loses a lot of speed while drifting so if you drift a lot then you may have to do 3 or 4 races in the starter car . If you start falling behind I would suggest a new car such as my personal choice the Scion FRS (however you can choose your own) instead of upgrades. C - Audi RS3 (cheapest car, competitive up to end of season 2) I would then suggest that you get your choice of either the Alfa Mito GTA or the Mini. B - The cheapest car - the Citroen, it is fast and very cheap for its class, however like all electric cars in game it loses a lot of speed when drifting. If you drift a lot I would suggest another car. That's as far as I've got in A8. If you need tips on A and further classes I will come back with my opinions
I am not through with career mode by far (unlocked Season 4 right now without spending any additional money but with little grinding in online mp, maybe 15 online races; made all stars and trophies on Season 1). All I can say is that I played the career mode (ALL stars) in A6 and A7 several times on different iOS devices and never spent an additional dime or felt some IAP push or pay wall. And I got no different feeling in A8 so far.
Anyone recommend me some strategy at buying? I've got these already: D - Dodge Dart GT, Audi R8 e-tron, Tesla Model S, Mini Cooper S Roadster C - Audi RS 3 Sportback, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive, Ford Focus RS B - Citroen Survolt A - currently none S - Lamborghini Veneno
