Can anyone explain me how this "1,000 player cup" works? Aside from doing a great run (for me), I don't know how on earth I got to #1... But I hope I stay there
Since you have an iPad, use MxTube. It gets rid of device, region, and age restrictions. If you add an extra file from a previous update, you can download YouTube videos with it.

This this all true, but the reason MP was the best part of the game is was the competition between evenly matched players with evenly matched cars. I got hooked by the excitement and then funnelled into collecting ranking points. I got into the top 10 briefly before the new points system was introduced, but realised that I wasn't enjoying it any more. I have played on my sons phone and he is ranked around 1400, the racing is more interesting as the match ups are similar and you are free to use what ever car you choose. So for me its only about the verity and excitement the game can give not the collecting of points. I fully respect anyone who works to stay at the top of the rankings as it takes dedication but for me it isn't fun.
I hear you. That's precisely why I suggested a new ranking mechanism that would allow the game to provide even matches regardless of world series point differences. Sadly, like Dark-Zero said, they'd probably make less money that way. So I'm not holding my breath.
This is why I have "admitted defeat" if you like on MP as have many of the other driver that I used to enjoy racing. I wonder if people actually buy extra tanks, fuel refills, and premium cars?? I have never heard of anyone actually paying apart from credit doublers. I under stand that it is a business but there would be better ways to monetize the game.

Go for it, you can make it I am not much competitive here because I play on the new profile starting from scratch which means I have no cash nor extra tanks for tournaments. Not mentioning maxed cars for TLEs, lol! My original data is on a version from Galaxy store where there was still no update of asphalt So I play a bit the version from google now just to feel the touch of known nicks from this forum
