We did reduce them a little due to the difference in power from the iPad 4 to iPad 3. I have an iPad 3 on a personal use and I thought I would see some graphic reductions but to be quite honest it looks comparable to what my co-worker has on his iPad 4. However, I've seen some SS's that make the iPad 3 graphics look pretty dull in comparison, so it could be I just lucked out with a "good" iPad 3?
Hey Ryan, what's missing on the 4S that the 5 have in terms of graphics? (I'm just curious, the 4S play the game absolutely beautifully, it looks a lot better then Asphalt 7)
A quick question: has anyone posted the full track listing anywhere? I know you can find out whatever's currently playing on the pause screen, but... I don't want to keep doing that until I've got them all written down. Joking aside about the general tone of the music (SICK DROPS, BRAH, WHOOOO, PASS THE JAGERBOMBS etc.) it's actually a pretty damn good selection, IMO. Even the brostep is quality stuff (apart from anything Skrillex, ewww) and I'd love to buy some of the individual tracks. SSX 3 is still the all-time king of licensed soundtracks in my eyes, but this is surprisingly close. EDIT: Also there are a few menu pieces I haven't heard in-game - are these original or instrumental versions of regular tracks or something like that? They're also pretty solid.
Just got the Lambo Veneno. Icon car, normal gameplay, no iap. Holy crap!!! That thing is FAAASSTT. All those concerned about sense of speed.......get more concerned about your eyesight and reaction speed. It is amazingly fast in game. Yet very controllable. You will need very good reaction speed though as the environment just goes by and creeps up on you amazingly fast.
I've heard it looks better on an iPhone 5 than iPad 4. Cannot confirm though because I haven't had a chance to play it on an iPhone 5 as of right now. When we were prepping for our live stream we were asked to do it on an iPhone 5 if we had one available.
Loving this game. I'm not normally into arcade racers but I just did something like a 720 flat spin about 100 feet in the air: very cool. I'm Larni69 on GC (Laurence N on RR3), by the by.
I'd agree with that. Its not a case of extra effects, its just down to the crispness and sharper screen. And pixel density. The smaller screen helps in that way. The iPhone 5 just really has a great screen basically. Most everything looks better on it. You can't beat the iPad 4 screen size though for some games. Oh and by the way Ryan, the song that was in the trailer (and MC4 trailer) just rocks. Loving it in the game.
Got home from family holiday, logged onto home wifi, bought game. Only tried two races on my iPad 4 but it looks stunning. I turned steering sensitivity up to 100% as I found the stock setting too tight. Can't wait to dig in.
One thing, though. If anyone thinks the tracks don't have optimal routes, I'm pretty sure you're kidding yourself. Sure, some shortcuts might be much harder to navigate effectively at speed; doesn't matter. If they get you to the finish line faster when you're perfect nitro-ing all the way, jumping every gap, they're optimal. I've just retried an Iceland Elimination about twenty times because maybe half the AI cars always take the caves/waterfall #2 route, and if I take the other route along the motorway/the frozen lake, even if I am nigh-on perfectly chaining boosts the whole way, they will all get there first. Every time. I'm not very good at the game, granted, but I'm not that bad. I'm not sure how much of a black mark against the game this is for me - it isn't remotely a deal breaker, and part of me quite likes the way the rubberbanding will punish you heavily for the slightest mistake - but really, you think there's no optimal routes? There's a reason they're called shortcuts, yes?
Awesome man, glad you are! I really am impressed with the overall music quality and quantity we have with A8. It was quite a surprise to see the track listings. Hopefully we'll put more up on our sound cloud profile!
That is correct, we are working on using Game Center and Game Services more heavily for A8 and our future releases. I don't think we will be relying as heavily on GL Live as in the past.
There is of course optimal routes. And yes, that's why they are called shortcuts. That's part of the depth and challenge of the game, finding the most optimal route. If it was as simple as nitroing the whole way round, that'd be somewhat standard fare and a bit uninteresting. There's so many routes in each map, it'll actually take a few tries to figure them out. And don't follow the AI blindly either. They don't always pick the correct route either and they spread a lot on some maps anyway.
That'd be pretty cool. Also, congrats to all involved for reaching number 1 in more than 75 countries. Well deserved. Top ten grossing in over 35 is an equally noteworthy achievement. Very well done and deserved.
Yeah, I know we are looking into the private lobbies because it was a popular feature so hang in there for upcoming content. Hopefully that'll help everyone get to race with their friends whenever they want to rather than relying on the local WiFi races or just challenging ghosts. EDIT: @Rip73 - Yup! We are all really stoked for all of those achievements! I couldn't have picked a better time to join and experience my first launch I'm definitely getting spoiled with Asphalt 8 haha
Would be cool if GL would implement an extra music channel where ALL of the tracks are available, so i don't have to switch the channel all the time cuz there are only 5 tracks each and i won't hear them over and over again
