True. I was really annoyed by it
Can Gameloft lock us according to our IP address?? And the only option is to switch worldwide and back to our country

Wow, he probably did it because you guys got your own leaderboard for the tournament , or he thinks that this one is easier than the others. Now there's gonna be a foreigner party in your leaderboard.
    Mind if I join? :p

It would be a good idea, but if GL wants to do it, I hope it's done ASAP. You see, having one nationality and living in another country kinda lets me choose, right? If they do lock by IP, I want to be locked to a country with its own leaderboard (AKA where I am right now)

Go ahead and join us Lord. The more the merrier :) and us Canadians are welcoming people :D

Anyway hector I'm right st your heels, 80 milliseconds behind you in the SLS amg gt cup. I think if I can get under 1:25 for the tourney I'll be top 20 I'm taking a risk with my time.

Ugh Gameloft make the leaderboards for such crappy cars easier. Like the ford gt this should've been top 50 at least. Jaguar I guess was justified because its fast. Hopefully the FF has easy leaderboards and so does the clk GTR. But most importantly I want the venom gt to have a tournament like the SSC, top 100 would be more fair for such a car haha

What would you guys expect to happen while you're abroad? Should the game switch countries automatically? You can't just lock once based on IP address, lest you lock people who start playing while they're traveling into the wrong country.

I have just played some multiplayer with Jag C-X75 upgraded to lvl 2-3-2-2 (rank 1516) and must say it was real fun. I really like this car!

I think they should lock it to the country you downloaded the game in. Most people download stuff at home. Why would you want to switch countries anyway(other then for cheating purposes).

I had a look around multiplayer yesterday and discovered more high ranking players hiding in the sub 950 rooms, Ala, n3ko69 and a few of the other drivers in the top 100 were there, minis seemed to be double tank noobs and no decent drivers, Suravolts were mainly at best 1400 drivers and s class was full of beginners. I even dug my GTR out but the cars it got matched against were ridiculous and remind me why I haven't used it in MP for the last 2 updates.

I don't know about Android, but on iOS, there's no (official) way for an app to know in which country (and more importantly, from which country's app store) it was downloaded, as far as I can tell. So they'd probably have to fall back to looking at your IP address when you first launch the game with an active internet connection.

Yeah, most do, most of the time. But some don't. I don't like quick solutions that work for "most" people.

I played a couple of US tournaments shortly after country-specific tournaments were introduced, because the US had tournaments for cars I liked, which the worldwide community didn't have. The game made it easy to switch to the US and back to Worldwide, so I didn't think of it as cheating. I simply changed a user preference, after all.

But you'll think of me as a cheater from now on, and I'll survive. I'd like you to consider this, though: If someone switches to your country simply because they think it's easier to win there, and if you think of that of a successful — if immoral — strategy, do you realize what you're actually complaining about? You're complaining about your unfair advantage getting slightly smaller.

EDIT: Given Fabien's latest statements, I suspect this discussion will be moot soon. It looks like Gameloft is currently working on making each leaderboard's tournaments equally hard. The first step on the way to achieving that is experimenting with the prize criteria, and that's what they seem to be doing right now. (If you ask me, though, all criteria should be based on time, rather than your position in a leaderboard. Alternatively, here's a new tournament idea: provide a set of ghosts that participants have to beat in order to win prizes.)

    Really!
The Jaguar C-X75 seems a spaceship to me.
    Pretty common boring handling...
That Jaguar deserves B Class, not A Class!

And of course, it's just a Jaguar, not a Ferrari or Lamborghini!

Well, maybe it's because I always race with SSC or Lykan in multi and Jag was simply like something completely different to me. Must try Mini now :)

Why don't they just make it worldwide for all tournaments? I would be happy with that. But looking through the various regions to find the weakest leader board is a bit poor if you ask me.
I wasn't calling you a cheat BTW but the Kb Summer Open lot seem to share leader boards and target the weakest, this to me is within the rules but underhand.Where as switching countries to get more interesting rewards is sensible.

The UK isn't a soft touch so whats your point.

I fully agree that rewards based on a time or position against a set of ghosts or drones would be better as it would eliminate the hunt for the easiest region.

Yup, I think that would be perfect. But that's what they started out with, and they really wanted to introduce countries for some reason. I suspect it's a marketing thing.

I think you are allowed one country change and he decided to take his.

Ugh I hate the SLS gt. I don't know where I would be losing the many hundreds of milliseconds that people are ahead of me by. I just want that car for collection purposes..... I want to see a sub 1:25 video. So many new people on the leaderboard

Running Bird I just suggested you have the option open between worldwide and your country based on your IP address so the Chinese players compete against each other and the rest of the world and not take advantage of weaker leaderboards so they can win more prizes. Also I don't think anyone would think of you as a cheater :)

What happen if I change my country? Is it really permanent as the advice says?

And yes, this SLS handling sucks... I didn't know how I got my awesome 1:25.085 haha

Well you'd have to contact costumer support to change it.
It won't allow you to change anymore by yourself
Ugh I'm so close behind you. Less than 60 milliseconds but all my runs are in the 1:25s I want a 1:24....

    Wooh, hold on.
    That Jag is a beast.
The five pre production ones they built (and made road legal and sold) probably have the beating of a Laferrari or P1.
The only shame is that they didn't make more.
    :)

For sure it is!! Its also a fantastic looking car. But when it comes to acceleration and probably how fast the car goes overall its almost as good as the LA Ferrari and p1 but not better. Its considerably older too which is why haha
