Hi everyone, I have a question for those who have this game on an ipod touch 4: are you able to play online multiplayer? I have just started playing, and I don't see the option in the main menu... On the bottom left there should be apn icon saying "world series", right? I don't have that icon there..

    Hi EP,
I have to respectfully disagree. Both the NFS and Asphalt series are equally arcade racers in my book. They do take different approaches and asphalt takes it more over the top. My personal preference is with asphalt, especially 8,because it is totally over the top. But i really don't see how NFS is closer to a sim. Less over the top yes. Again, with all respect EP,your input here has been a tremendous help with purchases for me. All the best and race on!

    Look out your window.
It's loads nicer. You just suck at it.

Seriously. Learn how to drift, then come back and complain.

    FLICK IT

You must have a really awesome Sunday car.

How can that possibly be a bad thing? And there isn't always a best one. Depends on the situation. That is one of my favorite things about the game, the shortcuts.

It relates to the multiplayer aspect.
I've nearly 200 stars and I'm still level 1 but I played a couple of multiplayer and I noticed a rank increase type of visual scroll.
So it only ranks you up in there as far as I can see.

Multiplayer, by the way, is a great little earner when you're winning.

@Killjoy, everything you said is spot on and really the main draws to the game.
The drift mechanic is brilliant once someone gets used to it. The London map almost has the ability to drift the whole way around it, but for the bridges.
People need to learn to just tap the brake while actually steering, not when going straight and to obviously keep steering slightly while drifting. Its really very straightforward. And even moreso with handling upgrades applied.
The sense of speed difference is really just down to the fact that the cars are much easier to control in this one while at speed. Again a good thing as you're driving the car rather than the car driving you. Which was the sense in A7 with the really fast cars.
As for the maps, well, come on, the maps are the greatest thing about it and what will keep people coming back. Learning new routes, new jumps, just everything is right about the maps. Too much to even go through.

Edit. Oops, Grace beat me to it:) on the other point, which is hardly surprising considering Grace's ghost is kicking my ass.

Okay. It's a tiny bit harder to leave drifting and go on straight ahead, but with the time I got easily used to it (and it becomes far less difficult when you upgrade handling).

    BUT!!!

You can change drifting direction WITHOUT interruption (kind of slalom). That was NOT possible in A7—for changing direction while drifting I had to turn to the left, brake a little bit, drift to the left, stop drift (nitro or brake), turn to the right, drift to the right. It's much easier now to drift sneaky curves and slaloms (but still a question of skillness).

I learned that in Season 2 Gate Drifting (needed some attempts for those 12,000 points). And I LOVE IT! That's what I call improved physics. Well done, Gameloft!!! :)

That was my greatest fear (besides that they removed local multiplayer because we're obviously the only ones in the world playing local mp): That the "improved physics" maybe would ruin the excellent experiences with the previous Asphalt series. I always thought the physics couldn't be better. I was wrong. They are better indeed in A8! Maybe you have to become used to the slightly different physics when you've played Asphalt 7: Heat excessively before (with all cars max upgraded nat).

And local mp exists like before except that they cancelled the Bluetooth option. Okay. Bluetooth worked only 96,3% stable (WiFi 99,86% and that for hours, days, weeks and months). Maybe I want it back because we played A7 in places where no WiFi exists (small hut far away in the alps, house boat in midst of a giant lake). Will try if that works with an iPhone hot spot.

Almost finished Season 2 with all stars. Tried online multiplayer: Works perfect! Race starts in twenty seconds. (Won right the first race naturally.)

I'd have to respectfully disagree with this strongly.
Multilayer is one resource for earning that people seem to have forgotten.
Also, the money increases with each championship more than enough to get the right cars.
And when I say the right cars, just choose wisely and avail of the upgrades. Don't just buy the first one you can afford.
And don't just buy one for the races that have exclusive cars. They won't be needed to get enough of stars and you can come back to them later if you're in that position.
You're simply not going to get all cars on a single play through (just as youre not going to get all five stars as easily) but that's just one of the aspects to keep people playing, its not a push to iap. Unless you're one of the really impatient. I personally see it as no problem as it simply adds replayability. Ands if its fun, its not grinding. And it is a lot of fun

Also, learning the quickest route on a map is a much more effective way of winning than having the best car in each class. Ad doing that is in no way a grind when you're replaying a race.

And if I had to advise buying (which really Gameloft deserves to be honest), I'd buy one of the lower two car packs or the special car pack that has one car from each class as the cars in it are good enough to win.
But the lower two packs are very effective and will lead to saving up a lot of money for the higher tier cars of each class later on.

    Wait what.

Dude. Grace. I need your GC.

Not one single Ghost has me beat in any race, I need competition.

Btw, will/do I get notified when someone beats my time?

I've notifications turned off but as far as I know it does do what you're looking for.
I just go in to my friends list which brings up the activity and where they've beaten my times.
And if you get challenged by them its in there as well but it also shows up under the envelope icon on the top left beside you're name.

This. I haven't bought any iAP yet. I might eventually get the first car pack just for the hell of it, or some money to help me get a CT3 after inevitably blowing all my money on a C7 or GT-R...

But yeah. To the people buying iAP's, buy the first two car packs and save all your money for upgrades and future, higher class cars.

Part of me wishes I'd done this, but I've already bought so many from the D and C class that its pointless. Besides I prefer earning it. It gives me a reason to play and something to do once I complete the game (which I'm finding myself not rushing to do)

With that said, I haven't spent a dime. I have all the cars I need, with all the upgrades I need. I'm in season 4 with $37,000 and absolutely no issues

This is a perfectly premium game, with the option of iAP's if you so desire.

I've got notifications turned on, but the only ones I get say "THIS GUY IS PLAYING A8. CAN YOU KEEP UP?"

    ..there's a friends list?

    I did not know that.

And with that, I depart and will not be back for 6+ hours. Everyone make lots of stupid posts while I'm gone so I'll have something to do later.

You're right, but i was just comparing how NFSMW resembles more of a sim compared to A7/8 in response to the quoted post. If it wasnt a comparison, then yeah, NFSMW is no doubt an arcade racer too.

    Yay, i´m good at a videogame :)
Happy belated birthday Rip, always a pleasure to read your posts!

I added you yesterday, you just need to confirm.
Hope my times live up to Rip´s praise. But then on the other hand i haven´t tried too hard for best times as i want to progress first and get some better cars.

Btw, any advice which cars to buy in season three? I got around 112 stars and on my way to unlock Season 4.
