Horizon tilt... There is NO way to turn off the damn horizon tilt. Every previous Asphalt has had it, every racing game on iOS that didn't suck has had the ability to turn it off. What is going on? This one is going on the shelf until they fix this glaring, and entirely ridiculous omission.
Personal preference I guess, but: 1 - I prefer the drifting in A8, I don't have any problems getting in or out of a drift and it's easier to hold one for longer - are you tilt steering? 2 - is fine for me, what device are you using? I am on an iPad mini 3 - there not confusing, just complex. They have been designed that way so there is more than one path and you have to remember the best one for you!
Bloody hell Gameloft...this game is nigh perfect. Personal opinion of course. Love it. Love the look/presentation. Prefer the drifting on this, the tracks are cool, the airborne action is insane. Played almost all of season 1 last night. Infectious stuff. Amazingly, I actually struggled to get into Asphalt 7. Not sure why. Almost makes me want to go back to it - but unlikely due to this work of art. Am I easily impressed? No. Concentration span is short with games. This one has me sucked in. As for the price? Ridiculous. This is how to package and release a game. Real Racing take note.
To do a Barrel roll just drive of one of the ramps that slopes left or right, a bit of nitro before you hit it helps. To do a flat spin go off a normal ramp doing a drift. That's all I know about
Habakuk, believe me I wasn't complaining about the number of cars this game has right now - I just remember reading there were supposed to be more. So looking forward to getting thr Marussia. I just can't seem to win it by racing the special event in Asphalt 7, and it is my favourite car on the console version of Need for Speed Most Wanted. Can't believe there are turkeys still complaining about how cars handle in this game. For crying out loud, handling is a stat you need to upgrade! Upgrade your handling fully on several cars, then complain how the handling sucks.
I hate it when people become butthurt about the game while they still don't have a hold of the game. Try to fix your frustration: 1. "Handling sucks bahbahbah" - Buy handling upgrades, buy a new car with superior handling, increase steering sensitivity, or at least, try not to be noob with the game. 2. "No sense of speed" - faster cars has it. 3. "Drifting sucks/is hard" - learn how to maneuver the drift, when you drift, don't steer too much, as it will decrease your speed, and remember tapping the brakes again or activating nitro will pull you out of the drift. 4. If you don't like the game at all, you can comment but not too offensive.
You've rated the game 5 star but can't answer this yourself? I would say it depends on the individual. Yes you could play without IAP, but you will either need to be good or not mind replaying levels a lot. However if you want to get a specific car and don't have much patience then you may need it! Put it this way, I won't be IAPing out of any need, but maybe to support GL (as I did with MC4)
Has anyone noticed if all the car upgrades are the same in pricing in each tier? Ie. Does a level 3 handling upgrade cost relatively the same in tier D as it does in tier S? If so, then it wouldn't be too hard to upgrade all our cars once we save up enough to actually buy them. But if it is like Real Racing 3 (where the more expensive cars have way more expensive upgrades), then that could take a long time.
How does this game look compared to NFSMW? I was really disappointed with A7 graphics on iPad. Also does collisions feel more real now? Was put off by that in A7 as well.
Played for a few hours now, and hmmmmm, the pricing on upgrades and cars is a tad prohibitive. Like RR3 you don't need to spend real money - and there's no timers here - but yeah, beat most of Season 1 then ran slap bang into a wall and couldn't even place, but still didn't have enough money for a decent car. At the same time, it is a racing game, and even with an arcade racer I think it's fair to say you should be wanting to do the tracks over and over - that's sort of the point, right? Plus there's the multiplayer, too. So yeah, it does need some grinding, IMO, but I'm not too bothered when the grind's this much fun. As for the sense of speed, for what little my opinion's worth, even the faster D-class stuff is still mighty quick by my standards. Obviously the game is using visual trickery to make you think it's going faster than it actually is and there are moments when nothing much is happening on the track where the illusion starts to get a bit thin, but I think some people simply aren't happy unless their game's moving so rapidly they have to go into Zen meditation, use the force and all simply to turn corners. Drifting, well... it is pretty easy to control once you fire it off, but I do agree it seems a little iffy as to whether or not the game will register the touch to start drifting. Perhaps it's just my iPod struggling. Oh, and Most Wanted isn't even in the same league. Don't get me started. I quite liked that game, but absolutely nothing about it compares favourably - production values, soundtrack, level design, controls, level of challenge, career progression, opportunities for replay... Asphalt 8 does them all better, for my money.
The main difference, and it still is, is that NFSMW is something closer to a simulation, while Asphalt 7 and 8 are more of an arcade experience. Dont expect a "more real" experience in Asphalt. It's the action that makes it fantastic. That, and the high production values in terms of graphics, sounds, map details, GUI, etc.
The only reason the iPad 4 version looks different in your screenshot comparisons is because there is a collision occurring in the iPad 4 image. The ipad 3 has the same particles during collisions. Here's an iPad 3 screenshot I took during a collision.
