A8 is not RR3 regarding monetization, believe me. I've played both to death. Sure, there's grinding in both, and a lot, but cars & upgrades are achievable without spending money in A8. In RR3 it's impossible to buy all the cars just by playing.
Omg.. Long post by every toucharcadian. I want to ask, wil the level in the game affect the pricing of tuning kit and nitro booster. If I'm not mistaken,my tuning kit cost me 10k and nitro starter cost me 7.5k. I'm currently level 26
The new Japanese cup on IOS requires 1 fuel tank to compete, even though I have the car. People keep saying it is a positive addition because you don't have to rent the car anymore for the event that introduce new cars. I completely disagree and say it is a very bad thing, and once Gameloft has introduced timers in this game they are not going away. You are seeing the no rent for a new car TLE part, all I am seeing is the fact that Gameloft took the decision to put limits and restrictions on another part of the game. Before you could at least spend the credits to rent and run the event as much you wanted. Not anymore. Not even if you own the car. Yes people, even though you have paid the ridiculous price for the car, you shuffled over all those buckets full of credits to get your car all upgraded, you worked up a sweat grinding together the credits that the skyrocketing boosters require.. You went through all that, just so you can get to the start with equal weapons and a fair shot at the best time. But you can only run a limited amounts of time (10 times an hour, about 20 minutes of playing or so). Never mind that those 10 times that you can run in an hour wouldn't be competitive if you don't spend money on the nitro tank doubler. So yeah, long story short: Gameloft continues destroying the game and doesn't give a shit about any loyal players. Just hand over your money already. Also I will play until I run out of stocked up boosts and credits and am done with this game. The only reason I played this game in the last few months was because of the lack of an alternative racing game anyway. It all went downhill for months and months, and Gameloft has clearly shown that this is their strategy and business plan. And also that it is all about money and they don't give a shit about their player base. They care about squeezing money out of them, that's all. If they only had the intention to give the player a full game and a full gaming experience, this game could have been amazing. If they just would have worked on building a complete game and charge a set price for it. Instead they get the engine and stuff right and focus all their energy in finding new ways to make players pay small (or in case of Gameloft sometimes INSANE) amounts of money, making the full gaming experience only accessible for players that are willing to spend hundreds of dollars. A month. Oh yeah, I'm very happy to see Spain eliminated in the worldcup, I hope you enjoyed the beating we gave you last Wednesday.
If we had a number of up votes we could give another member every week, you're last two posts would have my allocation for the year. I still play both games every day and RR3 and A8 are in two completely different leagues altogether. I agree 100% with what you say in this and your last post and thanks for having the foresight to actually see the difference.
Yeah, I found out the hard way when I was doing the Road to Le Mans in RR3 (great event, but the final stage's difficulty scared me away from trying to win the car). I found out through the Toucharcade and Firemonkeys forums that every car had a gold price associated with it in one form; paints, vinyls, rims, and even worse, the final level of upgrades. Gold played too big a role in that game, so it wasn't worth it. So I decided to get back to Asphalt 8 after a long hiatus ie. before the game went free to play. Glad to see that there is no second currency, and the fuel gauge I heard about is for events only. Sure there's some grinding, but it's probably no different than Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which happens to be a premium game.
It will make using my Dodge Dart in MP less tedious on the Chinese tracks, Nevada, Iceland, and French Guinea.
The premium car pack with the chrysler costs 100$ for 2 cars. The other pack 30$ also for 2 cars. And they doubled the credit packs prices. 1.5 mio for 100$ instead of 3mio.
Thanks, very much appreciate it, Yep nailed it. I was looking everywhere for poles Never thought about the tunnel.
Thanks, very much appreciate it, Yep nailed it. I was looking everywhere for poles Never thought about the tunnel. On the Update: Whooo, everyone is getting the general feeling right, somethings are good, some not quite so. My opinion, OK the gas bar refills, but why charge me if I own the car, that defeats the bypass the rental angle. For my son to now compete and not have to rent a car for 12k a shot, it helps him go the 3 times in 100 minutes, so at least he can have a chance. That makes perfect sense, but again, we have the car, so why limit us to 10 times per hour? Second, I think I am close to level 50 MP or so 1350 rank or so and even still, I am asking ppl here how to better effectively play it, since the rank and point up and down is hard to understand and comprehend. Now as I am starting to get it, I have to race SuperRacers with Double paid Nitro Boosts? Why even try? That's my humble opinion, so that takes a normal person steering away from MP. Forgot about these pros here, They were having a heck of a time and it was fun to watch them at their levels even talk about the nuances of driving, that's what the game and players inspired in others. NOW, it doesn't make sense that I or a little better can be able to go against the likes Turbo, BeaAg, Dark RB, 4118, because I have all the paid boosts and they don't. HA, We probably will still lose but for the others less than the top 100 people this totally blows, so in order to grow competitively, everyone needs to gear up, now. Doesn't seem fair and can be corrected by GL. Runescape, saw their members leave and reverted to some of their old styles and it brought them right back. Perhaps GL needs to see some of these errors and adjust, that's what updates are about. 3rd, I just recently found out about switching countries to see and compete in other cups. That's COOL! Period! So if a small percent of GL's most avid fans do this, What's the problem. It is narrow minded to say that they want to see people represent their country. Nobody cares if some switch, I'm USA and Proud, Yet would Play for Italy, since i'm Italian, Play for Colombia for my Wife, the list goes on, Am I more proud for my USA Flag? Sure, all three, worldwide fit people in nice that aren't die hard to represent their country on a Phone or iPad game, it's a game, not life. GL can flip a switch to put this back for their die hard fans that simply have fun switching around and playing in different cups. As someone not in the top 100, I just found it to be more fun and never cared if we dominate the board or Open or whoever. If I was in that elite crowd, sure I would care and I care because through these forums, we talk to these same people, after all and now their not so much Elite, but friends and Heck we're fans of theirs. 4th, What was more important to do was the balancing of the bad guys in MP, Why should I win 1 point if 3 people dropped out after coincidentally the race didn't go their way? Some ppl really do drop, but you see them flickering and feel sorry for them, but 99% abuse the point system. Thanks by the way, along with winning that 1 point, I'll come in second and lose 16 points. Just wacky. You could have concentrated on making a double bar for MP runs with more prizes, such as a scone bar meaning if you do 18 in a row, get an upgrade for A or S Class, something more interesting. Lastly, In ANY Country, Weird Tuning for 8 hours Nitro for 2, never understood that, but yes it is a waste of 8, since most can free up around 1-2 hours to do this. Now Nitro is 1/8 the time for 1/2 price. Tuning Kit for 1/32 of the time it is 1/4 of the price. This makes no sense, First as a Dad, I'm not going to wast my time with it for 15 minutes to cover 3-5 races and my son, he played longer than I have and just got his first S class car, He is never ever going to go for it. So instead of maybe even saying Nitro 2 hours 20K and Tuning 2 hours 20K, whereas it would have been playable and matched and even with a raise in credits, still was doable, now GL has POPS saying never gonna do it and his teenage son, not either, aside from that we only missed the 20-30 year old crowd. Either way it turns people off. Just flip the switch and adjust it to something reasonable. Easy to do at GL headquarters.
Confirmed. You've got to hand it to Gameloft — if they do a money grab, they do a full-on 100% in-your-face money grab, and they aren't ashamed of it. Let's recap: - nitro starter/tuning kit price hike that makes it almost impossible to earn those boosts through playing - new cash-only extra nitro tank, which means you'll have to pay to win in multiplayer and TLEs - ridiculous prices for new cars - credit pack prices effectively doubled (hat tip to Stoppi for spotting and adding this one — see post #5757) - cars we already own are getting turned into rental cars for TLEs (pay 99 cents to refill your fuel tank) Let's extrapolate what this means for Asphalt 8 1.5, shall we? Here's my guess: They'll lock all of our cars and make us buy rent them again for every single race. And they'll frame it like this: "New feature! As requested by thousands of gamers, the popular fuel mechanism is now available in career mode and multiplayer as well!" Long term, they'll simply charge us by the hour. I posted a one-star review on iTunes for the update, by the way. But looking at the other reviews, most people seem to love the game's new direction — that is, if they actually realize what's going on. I guess I'll have to accept that I'm not a member of Asphalt's target audience anymore. Looking forward, I hope DriveClub will be available for iOS eventually, once dedicated gaming consoles go the way of the dodo. DriveClub's team racing aspect might be just what some of us want, unless they turn that game into monetization hell, too.
This update is bullshit. Before it, you could play a event as many times as you want, but now... I'm very disappointed Seriously wtf is this shit? Fuel system is really demotivating. Fu*k you Gameloft
This is it, the update finally hit the Android platform. Haven't updated yet, but there's already reviews of the update on the Play Store. A lot of them are just newbies or people who aren't aware of what is really going on, but the negative ones are from more experienced players, or people who see what's going on. Will give my final opinion ASAP.
You are forgetting that they also sliced the amount of credits in credits packs in half while keeping the price the same. So basically they doubled those prices too I left a one star review in the App Store following this update, I hope everybody does the same. Let them know how we feel about Gameloft ruining our favorite racing game
Multiplayer suggestions. Good morning everyone, Well, I would like to make a couple of suggestions concerning Multiplayer in Asphalt 8. The first is: 1.) Please put back the Second Lap in: Nevada Nevada Reverse Barcelona Barcelona Reverse Alps Alps Reverse French Guiana French Guiana Reverse London Westminster Bridge London Eye The Great Wall The Great Wall Reverse The Dragons Den Temple Drive Buddhas Teaching Wall Assent Reasoning is: For those of us grinding away at Multiplayer to get Credits, that Second Lap is critical! It gives us a fighting chance to climb back into at least 3rd Place during a heat if another racer performs a Knockdown on us. I do not think Im a noob at Asphalt 8, but post-update there is almost no reasonable chance for me to recover from a Knockdown in just 1 Lap. 2.) Give Pole Position to the car with the lowest Rank in a given Multiplayer heat. Then the next position to the car with the second lowest Rank. Etc. down the line. If the car Ranks are equal, then you can randomize it within that car Rank group. Reasoning is: In Multiplayer, the cars with the lower Rank are usually the slowest. They could use the higher Pole Position to give them a fighting chance at winning the heat. 3.) Im not sure how you group racers together in Multiplayer, but sometimes the cars are too unequal to compete fairly. I thought who races together in Multiplayer was determined by car Rank and/or car speed, but Ive seen some strange heats with cars that had a very large spread in Rank and/or speed. Group like racers together for a fair match. Reasoning is: If the cars are too unequal, not really a fun or fair race in Multiplayer. 4.) If an account had already has upgraded all their Class D cars to Maxed Out, just override and give Credits as the Bonus in Multiplayer. Same if all their Class C cars are upgraded to Maxed Out. Etc. etc. Reasoning is: Wasted Bonus at heat 5, 7, and 9 if a player has already upgraded that Class car to Maxed Out. Give the player Credits. To state my credentials, Profile shows that Total Play Time is currently 9 days 17 hours. Ive unlocked all the Achievements except Fully Armed Fully upgrade all the cars (70/71). In Multiplayer Im already Level 85 and in Single Play Ive gotten 1050 stars. 61 cars are in my garage. My Position is only 433 with a Rating of 1622. Because Im racing so much in Multiplayer without any Boosts, my Rating and (correspondingly my Position) is not that good right now. Yes, I have 22 free Nitro Starters, 20 free Tuning Kits, and 9 free Extra Tanks in my inventory, but since Im grinding for Credits I am not utilizing those Boosts. Heres where I want to complain a bit... **rant on** Except for my Dodge Dart GT (which is not upgraded at all), all my Class D, Class C, and Class B cars are Maxed Out. Ive only got a little way to go before the rest of my Class A and Class S cars are fully upgraded. Currently Maxed Out are my: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento RUF RT 12 S Koenigsegg Agera R W Motors Lykan HyperSport SSC Tuatara The rest of my Class A and Class S cars are upgraded to at least Level 3. Most of my Class A cars are upgraded to Level 4. I estimate that I only need 4,500,00 Credits or so to get ALL 61 my cars Maxed Out. Which is, again, why Im grinding away over and over in Multiplayer and picking up Credits in Events when I can. With about 4,500,000 Credits to go and only an average of 67,500 Credits every 9 Multiplayer races, I have to win about 590 more races in Multiplayer. Really not that bad, but not good either. Isnt there some way to earn Credits faster or easier? **rant off** Everyone's Favorite Farm Animal, eieio Pig
In my game after updating, the Nitro boost is still lasting 2 hours and the Tuning Kit still lasts 8 hours. Also, the MP rewards for winning and winning streaks are still the same as before. Not sure if this is permanent or if it's just for the short-term. My take on the new update: Pros: 1. Assuming the MP rewards have stayed the same, grinding is faster and MP is more lucrative with every race being 1 lap. 2. New cars seem good, though not sure how much it will cost to buy/upgrade them. 3. I like the new jazzy stylish MP winning streak announcement graphic. 4. I already had all 61 cars, so all the Collections rewards were pretty nice. 5. I'm OK with the Fuel system. Very few people will repeatedly buy the 99 cent refill anyways, so it mostly just levels the TLE playing field for players with few or many credits. Cons: 1. 2 cars for $100? LOL. 2. No new tracks. 3. No new features players have been clamoring for that make sense: a Replay button after finishing a Single-Player race, non-local races against your friends; more accurate car ratings that reflect relative Acceleration, give information about how quickly Nitro is used up by each car, etc; Knockdown invincibility in the first 10 seconds, etc.
Those are most likely just the ones you won and/or bought before you updated. I'm guessing their legal department advised against devaluating stuff people already owned in an overly blatant manner — that's what they did when the raised the prices for upgrades to existing cars, and it's why they took that back eventually. (I might be wrong, though. The advice might have come from their PR department.)
