I'm actually trying out the free extra tank. To be honest, I'm trying to win back the World Series points I lost this morning.

2 things: the nitro is precisely doubled, not infinite, with the extra tank. There are tracks where nitro still runs out. Second, I believe (correct me if otherwise) that infection nitro gives you more speed than regular nitro, which would allow you to catch up to the extra-tankers, infect them, and level the playing field. In a single lap race, it might be tough, but studs like you or I should be able to do it, no problem :D

How are the leaderboards (Canadian and/or WW)? Are the usual suspects still at the top, or have some new names popped up?

As it appears that most of us are getting free tanks at the outset, it might take as long as a week for this change to become noticeable in tournament results.

Oh, if that's true, then I'm all for giving your plan a try. Does anybody know for sure?

In related news, I just kicked the rears of some of those training tank losers a couple of times, including several knockdown wins against Vasto Spezioso and waiming67. I won't be able to keep this up much longer for a couple of reasons, though: I keep losing credits on average, because I can't win on some of the tracks, and because I keep getting stuck for several minutes in unresponsive multiplayer lobbies. That's especially aggravating considering the new nitro starter/tuning kit prices.

I, for one, won't use a single one of them online. I'd rather lose than be corrupted.

(Oops, sorry for the double post.)

Hey Everyone. Figure it's about time I introduce myself. I'm Mike, I'm in the northeast US (eastern time zone).

    My gamecenter ID is: flat12boxer

I've been reading in the background for a long while and continuing to play, trying to get better. I have a rough work schedule, so I don't get to play too much. I started playing A8 when it was featured IOS app of the week sometime in 2013. With the changes that came with the first update, I wish I had started playing multiplayer sooner and found out about the game earlier as well.

I'm currently level 57, almost at level 58. Struggling to climb higher. My multiplayer points rating is shit because I fluctuate up and down approx 200 points every time I play multi since the china update. I find it very difficult to compete. I have 5 days+ of overall playing time. I have beaten the entire game and have bought all new and old cars except the Tuatara.

Only cars I have maxed at the moment are the Clio or Alfa Mito (can't remember which at the moment), the Mini, 370Z, the Exige Roadster, the GT500, the Ruf 911, and the Agera. I have partial upgrade (level 1 or 2 on the lykan, just waiting to bank a few more $ to finish it off) and I think on the other Ruf I'm up to level 2 or 3 because I had a tough time in the season 8 Ruf race last year.

I have all achievements except traffic spree x10 (best car and level to do this with please?) and the 1000/2000 multiplayer win awards. I also have just over 3 million credits from grinding in tourney and multiplayer, without using any boosters.

That may sound surprising but I find it more difficult to compete with them active. I found myself getting constantly matched against hackers, or just plain outmatched, so I have resorted to flat out old fashioned races, sometimes with a car with no upgrades, sometimes with just a maxed car, just to be able to practice running competitively.

At least I can say I beat tons of faster drivers purely on skill. I bet I'm not as good as turbo/dark/bird, etc. but I have a little racing knowledge and it has helped me out.

I was pretty stunned after finally watching some YouTube videos for the first time, like the open clan stuff last night, that I was already running the shortest routes that I figured out on my own. I never really paid attention to the directions posted here because I felt it was important for me to find the way on my own until I got better.

My biggest regret at the time of the previous update was not buying the 3 million or so credits for $15 (whatever it was). I was credit broke at the time and it would have eased my transition into the china update. I really don't buy much cash cost stuff in the game except for a few double credit boosters like 8 months ago.

I'm also probably one of the few players who uses touch controls rather than tilt. I currently play on a first gen iPad mini, hopefully a retina soon. I also used to play on an iPhone 5 but stopped due to the games not syncing across the cloud. Once I get my new flat screen for my AirPlay through Apple TV I will probably switch back to the phone.

So I have a few questions concerning this update:

Based on the bonuses (fuel, anything else?) you guys are talking about receiving for cars you already own, should I buy the tuatara before I update?

I swapped countries a few times in the past to try the different types of tournaments, as a lot of us did. I was originally on worldwide and then wasn't seeing the other tournaments, so I stayed on USA and then went looking for the other tournaments as they came up. Should I just lock to worldwide from now on? I want to be able to race in as much stuff as possible.

I am apparently having issues drifting - all types - hard, micro etc. either I'm not getting the correct amount of nitro with drifts (but I am on stunts) or I am doing something wrong (overall technique, or maybe too passive or too aggressive). My sensitivity % is good.

I don't think I have come across any of you guys but would love to race straight up no boosts to see how I am doing. If any of you happened ever play me in the past, it was probably straight up no boosts.

That's pretty much it for now. So again, hello to everyone. Look forward to running with you guys. :)

Only thing that bothers me so far other than hearing about this new fuel thing is the boosters. I wish they had just gone to 1 or 2 hour blocks for both boosters. I always hated the 2 hour/8 hour thing and forget the 24 hour double credits.

I'd rather have the nitro/tuning be an hour a piece or two hours a piece (it would helps coordinate a block of time to play in, I don't do the marathon hours of playing like some people around the world) and I wish the double credits was like 25 cents for a 6 hour block, but I am guessing there is probably some sort of minimum charge the App Store can process, maybe the 99 cents?

Ummm.... I have yet to update A8 on my iPad mini, but update it on my iPhone 5, do people really pay $3 for the extra tank for every 4hrs? I won't..... GL really desperate to earn money from us:(

Also they reduce the Nitro Boost & Tuning Kit to 10-15 mins, u beginner players definitely have trouble to purchase those boost as the credits reward for lower level is little.

Premium car packs will be available for purchase as IAP (check pic). Since my wifi sucks, it seems the game loaded car packs which it shouldn't have shown. This one seemed to cost 45€, and the Mercedes + another car (I couldn't see the brand well) will be 90€. As soon as it logged onto GameCenter and connected to the Internet through WiFi, this car pack and the Mercedes one disappeared from the IAP car pack list... :p

    Those prices...

Gameloft is exactly what is wrong with mobile gaming and IAP. They build a beautiful engine with insanely fun and addicting gameplay, but completely rape the whole experience by the way they structure the game and implement their business model.

And yes, I am willing to spend money for my entertainment, just not the insane prices Gameloft seems to be able to justify to themselves.

No one likes my "pay-to-play tournaments with toy cars as prizes" idea?

ive just been reading all the posts, im on android so i dont have the update yet
but i wouldnt like it if there was a booster that affected your time on a TLE that costs money. the double credit was fine because it didnt affect your score, but the double nitro thing, thats just overpowered
im also disapointed that there's no new tracks, hopefully there will be another update soon

and umm, those new cars in car packs, you can buy them in the shop right or on a TLE? or will those be premium

I bought the game on day one ($1, not free as now), and afterwards the D, C and B car packs with real money (around $25-$30 in total). I own all the 61 available cars now and many upgrades (Lykan is maxed, for example) and I don't regret having paid for those car packs. If you play a bit (5-10 races) on a daily basis, you'll eventually get to buy all the cars just by playing.

Sure, many will see it as a bad monetization, but honestly, go check Real Racing 3 to know what bad prohibitive monetization is... A8 is the only game I play and enjoy playing on a daily basis for nearly a year now.

WOW...I dont know were to start guys... it has taken me a long time to just catch up on the postings were I left off last night. Some of the longer ones I skipped just to finally get done.. I felt like I was watching the pages build as i read like I would never find the end again..lmao..

Still wiping off the tears of laughter and sadness....oh man I am glad I went to the bathroom before reading that one man.

This still will heavily limit the time you can use them so it is good and bad. Most ofthe time it takes a fair amount of time to gain the perfection of the route to get in the top 20 or so. Now I always wanted time limited events to shorten yes but not by making the pay system take more...but my time alone....I think this is a bummer major bummer but the double bottle is my main issue as of yet...preliminarily that is.

And there is a reason that a lot of people dont play that game too..I did for a short while and found out quickly that you need to pay in my opinion and I have not been back since...I think I only played for a week or so. It is cool but money is around every corner on that one.

Sorry for the mega post folks ;)

Barcelona Reverse in career mode is where I obtained my 100 obstacle achievement. On the first lap you carefully take out all the columns in the tunnel (there are close to 50 in all) then go on the sand and hit various lawn chairs; the second lap, jump off the ramp and take out whatever you can find on that portion of the track. I went very slowly overall, even turning my car around to hit some extra obstacles.

You also described EA/Firemonkeys in how they handled Real Racing 3. Real Racing 3 is a phenomenal game, when you are driving. It's impressive when you can get those graphics with that performance with up to 22 cars on track no problems. Yet it is utterly ruined by the fact that are timers for car deliveries, repairs, and upgrade installations, and everything in the game requires gold in one form or another. At least in Asphalt 8, most, if not all, the cars can be purchased with credits, though there is a bit of grinding needed to get said credits.

After seeing what Asphalt 8 and Real Racing 3 became, let's just say Asphalt 9 and Real Racing 4 went from "looking forward to" to "cautiously awaiting".
