Seems like an interesting idea. I'd think that there would need to be some other type of limit to this though -- an infinite counter would only reward the folks who start on day 1 and are currently the top drivers. That is, imagine one of you studs starting a month after everyone else -- it'd be virtually impossible to make up the difference as long as the top 50 consistently played. That kind of scoring could work if the leaderboard were time bound though (current calendar week; current calendar month; last 3 months [not 90 days -- like Apr-June]).
Game suggestion: Filters and exploration for leaderboards Been lurking for a bit; just registered. Been playing A8 for about 8 weeks. Done most of the seasons (few stars left, with the last upgrade need a lot more very expensive cars, as well as a few challenges in season 8). My times are marginal... I've only run boosters a few times, and I know my turns are not awesome. But, I've really enjoyed the game, and really enjoyed reading everyone's commentary and line suggestions. One game suggestion I have is around the leaderboard experience. As a marginal player (the only time I'm ever near the top 100 is when I'm one of the first 100 people to finish!), I'd like the ability to explore the leaderboard a bit more. Here are some questions I frequently find myself asking: - What are the fastest times of people running my *exact* configuration? eg, same car, same upgrades, same boosters. - Similarly, what are the fastest times of people running +/- x upgrades in my car? For instance, within 20 upgrade points of my current car. Or same upgrades but 1 booster. - perhaps both of the above would be generalized as, 'I want to see leaderboards by car x upgrade points x boosters'. There are a lot of tournaments that I run in level 1 or 2 cars, so there is no chance of hitting the time goal. Am I doing well, ok, or terrible with what I'm running? - I'd like to be able to see more than the 20 people ahead of me. It seems odd that I can see the top 100 overall, but can only see 40 people (times) around me.
Yeah, I've never understood why you can't see the entire leaderboard. It's really annoying, especially in worldwide tournaments.
actually, what i do is that i look at my car rank, and i compare it to the people's car ranks around my time, i know im doing good if my car rank is lets say 1000, but the people around my time have a car rank of 1050
That is an aspect of gaming in general man. We help each other out here all the time. None the less with help, be it text, video to watch or not you still have to run what you see or know and that is super hard to do at that level. Same thing happens in real life too..drivers collaborate about tracks, lines and what setups to use to better their qualifying times? Even take special track days and or spend a week at a given track to do testing to find a way to better their laps. So yet I know it can be annoying that it seems impossible to get to where they are...they earn it in the end...didn't they? I think they did. Fact is you are running against Elitist in that discipline (TLE)...if you wanted to see who is the fastest IMO you need to limit the runs that we all can make in a given TLE....no matter what you know about that map... having to do it in say three runs only would be a major challenge to even for the best driver. EDIT: Now the only thing I will add that will support your feeling somewhat is that the China drivers run the route and experiments so much that the better I have gotten I found that they are somewhat exploiting portions of the routes. Things that don't makes sense in the real world which is what are brains want to think is the fastest way around the map. That can be annoying because it takes a ton of time to find some of those and some are by accident and I think that is how they found them too... but in the end that is the world of "arcade gaming" so I cannot be mad at them for figuring out those routes...just makes beating them so damn hard I ran into a couple of these the other night man while I was in a survolt and beat them every time. It is doom to run that audi at that rank you will get run down by the right car and knocked out...and that is what I kept doing to them..was fun as you know what...lol Well first welcome! I know that all that info would be nice to have at you hands but I don't think they will go to that extent...could make for a messy leaderboard. I always did want to see the whole leaderboard though and I don't see why that cannot happen. It would allow you to see everyone above and below you and also give you an idea of how many people you are actually still beating as in total entries. Even when I was new I wanted to feel better by knowing I was still ahead of say 15000 people even when my rank in that event was in the thousands...lol
Before I got to where I am now.... this was my biggest motivator. Loved beating other driver with a lesser car or less boosts...I actually loved trying to be the fastest none boosted car in the event for a long time... still do now and then Can someone tell me how I would have been able to add this to my last post above since I did not quote him in my original post? I would have just added it in but I dont know how to do that or if it can be done or not.
Controls? Hi all, I'm intrigued as to the control types people here use...virtually all of the videos I've ever watched of tracks look like they're using the tilt system judging by how the nitro icon appears. I've tried it a few times and played around with the sensitivity but at the end of the day I just don't get the fine control I have with touch-to-steer. The downside of this is the drift which is much harder to maintain smoothly so I feel like maybe I'm at a crossroads where if I persist with the tilt I can shave off those vital milliseconds with the extra drift control? Great thread by the way I've been playing for a few months and pick up a few tips daily on the way to work on here.
Welcome to the forum! I have used tilt steer since the day I started. For me it felt the most natural and had the best control.
Here's how I'd do it: I'd click/tap "Quote" and type my reply just like you did, then instead of submitting the reply, I'd copy the whole message body, including eric777's quote. Finally, edit your original post and paste what you just copied at the bottom. Works best when working in a separate tab for the reply. That way you can easily discard the reply you copied instead of posting it.
I just thought of an idea for the community. Car challenges. I will start doing these daily and anyone can participate. I'm challenging any and every racer who think they can beat me. The car for today? Dodge Challenger. Time? 8pm EST. Since this is the first one, I'm starting this one a little late but suggestions are appreciated. I am the host of this challenge (meaning I started a challenge to all the racers in this thread today). Hopefully I am one of many different hosts. I'm going to make this a thing I do daily and on a schedule. I'm going to make a weekly schedule that will start next week. Right now, of course the idea is in it's first draft so things will be improved on over time as I get more feedback. The purpose of this is for more community interaction and racing between the community. Rules/Guidelines for Car Challenges (CC for short): 1. Any thing goes racing wise. Knockouts, dirty racing, clean racing. Consider this a cautionary heads up. 2. The cars will get picked by whoever suggests them. For example, if someone suggests a specific car for the next CC, whoever is hosting it will decide if that's the car they want to race. 3. Make sure the car is maxed out and fully boosted. 4. Each challenge will last 2 hours. In order to be apart of the challenge: 1. Race during the time of the challenge. Remember each challenge lasts 2 hours. 2. State your Game Center ID/Facebook in this thread (I will compile a list of users and their IDs), the racer(s) you played against, and the end results (did you win or lose?) My Gamecenter ID is: vDarkZero Any questions?
Yeah, I enjoy doing that too. I like seeing when I have the top non-maxed, non-boosted time. As for facing the Audi, I could see doing battle with it in the Survolt...I usually do beat it as I recall.
Well, the USB port of my tablet broke, so I can't charge it Waiting for the wireless charger to arrive. Did I miss anything, like interesting tournaments or stuff?
Sounds like a good time, might be hard to get some of us to run certain cars though...lol...but I think the concept is great man. Ya they are flat gone off the line but with in about a half a lap or less I run them down and usually knockem out....that is if the car is not maxed...now I have ran a few maxed Audi's that utilize that glitch and they are very hard to catch even in a Survolt if the driver is good...I close the gap but off the start the lead that is generated is just too much to overcome.
There is a guy on A8 Facebook, absolutely MAD with Gameloft... "the game is crap, nobody managed to gain points in the multiplayer series that the system that you guys also using the highest level to play with someone of lower score wins a point or lost 12 points is a waste, it does not exist, like this u take the competition of the world series and let everyone stopped without getting points, I stopped playing for two weeks and will not return until they remake the scoring system, another the crowns that staff should have score playing in multiplayer table and has, and the best players of the world or that this serie and multiplayer table, the game is a waste and a lot of people stopping to play this! when there is an update on the reformulation of points I might come back!" You guys here have to understand that MP hasn't all efforts from Gameloft involved. MP is just a bid!
So after the first challenge, I didn't play against anyone unfortunately. Maybe it's because I announced it so late so I'll keep trying. Car Challenge for 6/15 (Sunday): Mini Cooper starting at 3pm EST
They are all positioned to race superior cars that people sort of take for granted. Unless your rank is top 500 or better, which mine certainly is not after driving any of these cars, you often get pitted against boosted scrubs or just qplain wannabes driving said superior cars. Beating even one boosted tuatara in the Bugatti is hilarious. Beating the entire field is sweet. Sure, it doesn't happen often enough to gain rank beyond maybe 1350 or so, but it can be done. You have to drive absolutely perfectly to do it, every time. It is a big challenge. Occasionally I'll get stuck racing someone mediocre like return_man or Mexican, and I have beaten them in crap cars a few times. Just a few. About the best I can do is maybe hold streaks with a string of 2nd and 3rd place victories, interrupted by the occasional 1st place. In all fairness to the spano, though, it is close to being competitive. Sort of. If you get good with that car, you can outrun fxxs and bugattis easily, especially when the drivers aren't expecting it. The spano also gets to beat up on the mcclaren p1 a lot, which is loads of fun. The ruf rt 12 is only good for annoying people in the sesto that make enough mistakes and let you catch up. You'll see enough Lykans and tuataras to hate being in that car for very long. Still, if the drivers are bad, anything is possible. The c7 is pretty painful. I had a few softball races where I had part-modded cars for opponents, but generally speaking the server wanted me to race maxed boosted sestos and stuff like that. It was insane. The mcclaren 12 is bad enough, but a maxed boosted sesto? Cmon man! I beat a few f12 berlinettas but they stink. Then there's the Bugatti. I actually started scaring some scrub Lykan/tuatara drivers enough with it that they'd hunt and wreck me at the start of the race if they could. Don't get me wrong, it is not a great car . . . there are just some lousy drivers out there in expensive, fast cars waiting to be knocked off by a spoiler. Sadly, you see at least one boosted Lykan or tuatara per race, so you have your work cut out for you every time. It is almost easier to cope with those guys when driving the spano or ctr3 just because of acceleration. If the gran sport vitesse were not such a pig off the line, it wouldn't be such a problem. The bobsled is the bobsled. If you are top notch you will be able to give even decent Lykan/tuatara drivers trouble, which would be great if it weren't for the fact that that they make you race some of the best top end drivers in that thing.
I definitely agree with that. I remember having raced a few Lykans and Tuataras with the P1 on Monaco, and there was only one Tuatara that passed me, and due to an overlook on my part. It's very hard to win on this kind of matchup, but when you do, it's satisfying because you beat the best cars while handicapped or you gave your best and still got a good spot, like 2nd or 3rd. Of course, if rank matters to you, well I've got some bad news if you want to attempt this
I have a new idea for win streaks in MP. Instead of obtaining an award after consecutive wins, there are points. Three wins in a row gives you 1 point, 5 races 3,7 5points and 9 wins 7 points. The points can be stored and can be used to obtain all types of upgrades, boosts and money. For example, 50k credits costs 40 points, 100k 70p. A class A upgrade for 35 points etc... This would be good for every player, whether he's a pro or a newbie.
