If those new upgrade prices are for real and pay outs don't increase dramatically I am completely done with this game. THAT IS COMPLETELY INSANE. Go #### yourself Gameloft, I'll spend my money and time in some different game
Man, im not even in the top 100 anymore. Top 100 is now in the last tenth of 1:33 and its only getting lowered. This might be the first car i dont win. I will keep trying but there is only so much improving i can do. Like someone in this thread said, those Chinese guys need a break, seriously. Sidenote: I really hope those prices are just a joke. I in no way shape or form had to pay any where near that when i first upgraded my cars. It was like 50,000 max or something like that for upgrade level 5.
That is what I am wondering and also hoping. If this is for real, then I am done with Gameloft. If someone higher up at Gameloft really did sign off on this, if that company really thinks it is okay to threat their fans and players like this.. It is a returning problem with games like this, build a player base, when established ramp up the prices as much you can to see how much money they can squeeze out of the player base. Only have I never played a game that did it to this extent. If this is for real, if Gameloft worked out the numbers and thought this was fair and reasonable, and they think they can get away with it.. I have no interest playing a game manufactured by a studio that had zero respect for their player base and has no problem treating supporters of your product like this
Judging from other changes GL has made, this would be so drastic, I truly doubt it's true. There was a time when getting free nitro boosts and double credits was easier. Now it's harder (can't get free double credits), but that wasn't a huge change. this would be huge. Just can't see it. If anything, you'd think they'd jack up the price of the boost first — knowing anyone who cares about their rank wouldn't dare race without boost.
Its a pity people don't really understand the economy of a game like this. It is free to download and essentially free to complete with no timers or premium currency or other aspects that wall off content behind an iap only purchase. Yes there is grinding but that's not the same as locked behind an iap wall. TLE and multiplayer costs the developer money. Upgrades and new cars cost the developer money. But everybody wants it all for free. And lots of people are getting it all for free. And in that case, a product becomes unsustainable to support. It's not a question of not supporting their customers nor a case of being disrespectful to them. It's quite a case of sustaining and supporting it. And that can't be done unless some people buy iap. It's really as simple as that. To complain about an iap push in this is simply a little bit greedy on the consumer as it is one of the fairest free to play games available on the App Store. No "gold" only cars for example. No timer walls. People should really look at RR3 if they want to see what an iap push really looks like. It is far from the case here with this one. If enough of people were supporting the game with more than their words, rebalancing the economy in it wouldn't be necessary and wouldn't be done. The simple fact that should be taken from any in game economy changes is that if you want the game supported, updated and continuous TLE's, some of these changes are necessary because without a sustainable income, none of those things will continue. And before someone starts quoting download numbers, about 2.4% of people support free games with iap. And that's in ones with heavy iap pushes. The numbers in something as lenient as this is even lower. And while I'll easily concede the level 5 upgrades are very high, it should be pretty obvious that a glitch has occurred somewhere on the numbering. It doesn't mean there hasn't been an increase but it is disproportionate to the other levels so some thing has gone a bit awry. And as the team behind this game has been nothing short of excellent all along, I'm sure they'll fix it to what they intended. Whatever that turns out to be, they wouldn't be doing it if the game was getting enough to sustain it. The credits booster would still be available to win if enough of people were putting their money where their mouth is. S class upgrades would be handed out like candy in multiplayer. The fact is that is not the case and if you want to see the game supported, updated and maintained with events, well then sometimes this is what has to happen. It is not magically supporting itself and everything that the team does to support it, develop it, update it, push out TLE's and add new cars cost money. The developer can't maintain doing all this for nothing you know despite people wanting to play it forever for nothing.
That's quite the condescending statement. My guess would be that most people understand just fine, but it isn't our job to defend Gameloft. As consumers, it's our right to state that we're annoyed by this kind of thing, just like it's Gameloft's right to annoy us. We'll see. The prices are still jacked up here (tested as Sneaking Bird), and if it really is a glitch, then the fact that they haven't been able to fix it in almost a day isn't exactly something to brag about either. Personally, I'm not convinced it's a glitch yet, by the way. My working theory is that they made the upgrade prices depend on your progress in the game (stuff like multiplayer level, stars, and/or accumulated credits) — booster prices have had that dependency for a while.
Or ... sounds like a poor business model (build it, they will come, we're not making money, what now?). And potentially moving the goal posts that much is something players might not be willing to put up with.
No no no no no. The way the game is now makes it seem as if gameloft is punishing the gamers for supporting it. What would be the point of making the game free if they are going to turn around and pretty much make you pay to win, especially if you are new? Wouldnt it make more sense to have just made the game 3-4 dollars to play? The game was free and for a while, IAP were there but were hardly pushed. Now its at the point where you almost are forced to pay a lot of money (not just a few dollars) to play the game successfully. Its at the point where playing multiplayer is absolutely pointless because you'll just be losing in game money. Tournaments for the most part are also useless. The game is not the same anymore. People dont have a chance to be successful anymore. If i had to go through this (you too. Put yourself in a new player's shoes instead of speaking from your standpoint) from scratch, for the first time again, i would have deleted this game.
There is a huge difference between using this kind of business model fairly and what Gameloft is trying to pull if those prices are for real. You're one of those people who feels that just because it is possible to play the game for free, users should be happy with that and just shut up and take whatever the studio dishes out. And that is just completely wrong. I understand their business model very well, I understand it so well that I know there is a way healthier balance possible than this. And I also fully understand that there are plenty of ways to make money off gamemodels like this without shitting all over your supporters. Just because they throw you a bone doesn't mean you aren't allowed to have an opinion about stuff. Also you are turning it completely around. If those new prices were for real than that would not be the players fault for not spending enough. It would be Gamelofts fault for feeling like they could do that and it be acceptable. And it isn't. It's ridiculous. The game has been getting more and more expensive to play for a while now and this would be the last straw IMO.. Also it is super frustrating seeing Gameloft hurting their own game again and again. I love this game and enjoy playing it immensely and see it has the potential to be so much bigger and there are so many things that could be improved to make this game even more amazing. Instead things just keep going downhill
Rip, assuming the prices are real, do you really think $100 is a "fair" price for two upgraded vehicles? Again, this change makes me less likely to spend money and not more likely. I won't be getting anywhere near the same value as before. If they had even given a little warning beforehand..."Save now before prices increase!"...that would've been a lot better than this.
Trust my opinion. I switched from Real Racing 3 to this game. Real Racing was similar, quite high payouts and didn't take IAP to complete the game. Then with gradual "updates" upgrade prices cost more than several cars, gold only upgrades were extremely expensive, cars prices only available for gold were jacked up, mandatory upgrades were used to reach a PR (performance rating),etc. Since it was done over several updates in a couple months and I suddenly started playing that game, the game became literally impossible to finish. Oh, did I mention the payouts were decreased. For Rip273, Gameloft has been doing pretty well, especially after Asphalt 8 was released for free (though that's not its only game) http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/snapshot/snapshot.asp?ticker=GFT:FP Gameloft is getting greediy and retarded. They are rewarding hackers by not removing them from the leaderboards and jacking up the prices so high. I've seen games like this, release the game for a low price, lot of excitement, release it for free, player base multiplies, think its time to start banking, jack up all prices, many legit players leave so less IAP, even higher prices, only hackers left. Real Racing is kinda like this. One good business model for racing games is CSR Racing. This greediness started with decreasing from the top 2,000 players getting the best car (Lykan) to only the top 100 worldwide! Rip_273 You can go farm credits using the FXX race on 2X credits for 24 hours you can use that to max 1 car instead of all S -class cars. If you just started and haven't upgraded 1/2 the cars it would probably take several thousand hours of farming to finish the game. Just because a game is free doesn't mean the gamemakers should disregard their players. It's bad for both of us (those of you from Gameloft please listen). I never said they can't-b/c it's well w/in their ability and power. They will just have to suffer when all the legit players leave and mostly hackers are left. They soon won't get any IAP at all. Jacking up Boost prices is one matter, exponentially increasing upgrades is another.
This level 5 upgrade thing better be a glitch. I'm seeing it now on a number of cars in my garage. Why would I buy a single upgrade that costs more than the car itself? Psshhh All this is going to do is give people an incentive to hack the game for free credits. It's ok to charge a lot for cars. Cars are actually exciting. But one class 5 upgrade is not worth more than $10 (iap price of 175k credits) to anyone except a few rich people.
Meh. I'm not complaining that the game isn't free. Rather, I'd like to see the model of old console games brought back. Let me pay $ upfront and then give me a real game with no iap BS. Heck, make a free version with iap and a pay version with no iap.
My brother, digging your points, but I'd say, watch the language. I haven't seen much (if any) cursing until this post. Let's not start that ugly trend.
Why everybody is angry ACCELERATION 5 199,500 + TOP SPEED 5 427,500 + HANDLING 5 199,500 + NITRO 5 313,500 = 1.140,000 TOO cheap! Anyway... S Class is already DEAD! The fun of this game is on A Class!
