My experience in the game tells me that one won't loose more than 10 points when loosing a race. Ok, this can happen under certain conditions, but it is really unlikely. However if this happen o you all the time, I would like to know why.

It happened twice in that session. I lost 13 points in one race and I believe 12 in another (could've been 11). I'll try to take a screenshot if it happens again, but I don't play MP that often.

What's your world series ranking, Fabien? If you're below 1,500 points, losing more than 10 points is indeed unlikely. But as you climb further up, it becomes more and more likely.

It's all about the difference in points between you and the other participants in the race (those you beat vs. those who finish ahead of you), as far as I can tell. I might be wrong, though — you can look up the algorithm, after all, while I can only postulate theories based on experience. :)

Does rating really matter in the game? I mean its not like a tourney where you have to make the top certain number of people. Does it give better race rewards at the end of win streaks. I'm satisfied with my 1200 rating, never had a problem cuz it didn't really mean anything. Sure it could be higher if sometimes if the race lagged and I start 15 seconds behind everyone., but I get D-class upgrades, the rare C-Class, and 1250-7500 credits.

Higher ranking in multiplayer gives higher pay-outs in MP races.

Right now playing MP for the credits is pretty pointless. You get very little for each win and the win streak rewards aren't that valuable either.

Even at level 85, and which takes quite some hours playing to get there, you get 7k for a race, 2-3 minutes long. It is still better ROI to replay 1 lap tournaments with fast cars (taking 1 minute or less) to gain 3600 credits for a win. And you don't waste minutes extra sitting around waiting for other players. And it is a lot easier since you don't have competitive opponents (if your car is upgraded enough).

Do you know when you get to earning 6000+ credits per 1st place in multiplayer? It would only work well id they still gave out 2X credit packs as win streaks.

So there is no point of multiplyer then...? It's the tourney that offer more cash/min. and real rewards.

The only thing MP offers that the other gamemodes is live interaction with other players. But besides that MP indeed is pretty much pointless and there isn't much motivation to play that mode. Low rewards and a bunch of frustrating game mechanics to deal with (ranking/points system, hackers, opponents in much faster cars etc) have kept me from from pretty much even bothering with that mode.

I think most people race MP to increase their rating for bragging rights. Outside of MP, your rating doesn't have an impact on single player or TLE's.

Depends on the track and class. Whenever I play MP, I pretty much always go for one lap races like Monaco and Venice. I'm only level 41 with ~1500 rating making about 3k per race. At 7k per race, I'd be prone to grind it more. The variety would be nice over just racing a tournament race 100 times in a row.

I can't figure out the best way to start the Lykan Cup. I rarely get a barrel roll off the opening ramp because I can't avoid the cars in the way, and I'm not sure whether to just skip the ramp and knockdown cars for the nitro or not.

If you say so... But speaking of bragging rights, I have a question for you guys: Do you still see me in the world series top 100? I haven't played multiplayer in several weeks. And judging from their unchanged ratings, I'm guessing the same is true for most of the players near the top.

And yet, I still see them. Didn't Gameloft say you'd vanish after two weeks of multiplayer inactivity? Or is it enough to just launch Asphalt from time to time?

Triple boost off start and try you best to knockout 3 cars as soon as you jump the hump in the road at the very beginning. You only need to get one barrel roll (do a successful barrel roll as low as you possible can) if you managed your nitro well enough after the knockouts.
No need to do that, only slows you down.
They did say that, I noticed that also. I havent played multiplayer in a while but i havent had any penalty. Maybe it was a scare tactic to make people continuously play?

You are still in the top 100 at 11th place

You are not alone. You can win 20 races, finish second at Monaco because someone beat you to the first corner or prevented you from turning and lose 10 or more points. I used to play MP 100 percent of the time, but with more tourneys, that's what I do 99 percent of the time. But, that said, running against other players is the most fun. And hunting for tenths or even hundreds of a second in tourneys might be getting old. I tried to put my rank out of my mind, like it doesn't matter, but it does. Now, I use one iPad mostly for MP (rascal3332) because I don't care if the rank is only 1,600 and the other (Driver2621) for tourneys.

Launching the app alone must keep you active on the MP boards: I see you at number 11 in the World Series. My hero!

So this version of Asphalt comes with upgraded effects and somewhat more polished textures and models but, don't expect it to be something different than Asphalt 7.

I've been playing this game intermittently for about 4 months now, and I've long been puzzled by the utter lack of change at the very top of the MP leaderboard. I'm pretty certain that the current top 5 players (Mia Rosa Winkler, Gracchus, csy1078, bananamann, skydive) were in exactly the same positions when I started playing A8 back in January - and that their points total hasn't changed either. What gives? Are these users who played a lot when the game was first released, and then subsequently stopped playing when A8 grew in popularity and total users?

I think that these users should have to play MP matches to defend their rankings. How about penalizing their inactivity? Or, how about not being so fickle with the points awarded/lost in MP victories/defeats? Why should 1,500 points be a kind of ceiling where small blunders begin to cost so many points? Last night, I started playing D-class matches with 1497 points (top 1300 in the world, but far away from the top), but then lost 8-10 points when my lowly Dodge Dart was continuously paired up against Mini Coopers (some of which had boosters!) that simply outgunned me. I also got disconnected twice; the amounts of points I've lost due to the server timing out must number in the 100s by now.

Now I sit just outside the top 2000 with 1450 points, and simply for finishing 1 or 2 places behind opponents with much faster cars. If the game penalized less and gave out more points for top 3 finishes, then active MP competitors could rise to the top, rather than allow someone like Mia Rosa Winkler (who, given her unchanging points total, apparently hasn't even played MP in the last 5 months) undeservingly preside at the top.

Anyhow, I still think A8 is a fun game, but I'm often frustrated by the limitations of the MP format. I think MP rooms should be expanded to reflect the various available modes of play. Instead of having users vote for the mode of play (99%, it ends up being classic), why not make rooms specifically designated for Classic, Infected, or Elimination play?

And how about some new modes? How about a knockdown mode where each user is given 10 lives, and the last person standing wins? Hell, even a Gate mode (even though I hate that mode; that Iceland S-Class level in Season 8 is basically impossible ).

Finally, one last word about MP leader Mia Rose Winkler: why is she such a non-factor in any of the tournaments? If she has been that dominant in MP matches, shouldn't her username be showing up in tourney leaderboards as well? Surely someone who leads the world in MP scoring should be able to hold her own in tourneys. Yet I've never seen that username in any of the worldwide tourney top 100. Very suspicious in my eyes.

I have raced against MRW in MP (back in January or December). MRW is the one who showed me (by beating me) that my Caddie couldn't beat the Mini Cooper. Not sure if MRW still plays, but if he/she does, might skip the tourneys. MRW was plenty good in the race, so knows what he/she is doing.
