I don't have a problem with them wanting to make money or making money, I have a problem with them asking credits worth $15 to compete in a single tournament that has shitty prices. $20 worth of credits for the Pagani full upgraded + boosters, just to have a shot at winning an amazing 25k credits. Sounds reasonable right?
If you don't like the in-app purchase prices, then grind it out, yo. If you don't want to grind for credits either, then I'm not sure this game -- or any other game that follows this business model -- is for you. I made a choice to grind, and I'm happy I did. So did a lot of other people who play this game. You have to choose what makes you happiest, man, but you can't expect everything to be easy -- or even reasonable. Life lessons...
Haha i certainly see, whats up with the skewed price tags? The ruf car was always 100k to begin with.. I'm pretty sure I got the GTR Deal a few days ago when it was a real 10% off.
It doesn't matter if I prefer to "pay" the price that is necessary to compete in the tournament using playtime (grinding, logging 100s of hours) or cash (buying credits). Either way, it is completely unbalanced and the only reason you are trying to convince yourself and others that is not completely bullshit is because you feel like you earned the right to compete because you did log all those hours grinding away (most likely in a time with way better MP win streak prices and tournament rewards, making it WAY easier). So you'd feel screwed over if they changed it now and made it more accessible, you paid your dues right? Anyone with a sane mind will see that $20 worth of credits to compete in a single day cup is ridiculous. Even more so with the rewards being as pathetic as they are nowadays..
Hah, no, I wouldn't feel screwed over at all. I've never thought about paying my dues with respect to a free game that gives me hours of enjoyment every week. I agree. I certainly wouldn't pay it. And if you think it's ridiculous, then you shouldn't either. Just don't expect Gameloft to give you something for nothing.
I'm just pointing out how bad for business it is, maybe they realize how dumb it is if they get the numbers spelled out for them. Why fence of a major section of the game by making stupid business decisions. Nobody is benefiting from the situation as it is, since they are driving tons of players away by making game less and less attractive to play
Yeah -- I like it. Should be super competitive with the worldwide boards. Hopefully, the hackers don't fill up too many of the top spots...
So are there 2 new events or one? I got 2 notifications for new events. I don't want to miss out a great prize like the spring cups because I'm in Canada. If anyone knows which country that'd be great
It's a single event with two races -- just like the spring cup or the great wall cup. There are 6 different criteria (cups) that you earn by competing in each race -- both S class (Barcelona reverse and Alps reverse). I'm in Canada, and that's what I've got. Tournament runs for 2 days, so you've got some time. Good luck!
Ooo so that's what I have. But the funny part is I got 2 notifications meaning 2 events but not necessarily in my region. I got a notification in the morning and it wasn't a cup in Canada. I checked the UK region and it was there with crappy rewards but still they should leave everything worldwide ... I wish I win that GTA spano. One of the few cars I don't own. Thanks
High A Cup Ferrari F12berlinetta: 1:03:261 Pagani Zonda R: 1:02:799 1:02:733 1:02:685 -1:02:634 1:02:568 1:02:535 1:02:436 Final Placing: 5th
Okay good enough, I see this is just you and I butting heads (or difference of opinion) and if I have not been clear then my bad. I will just sit out of this topic because back and forth disagreeing about it is not getting you or I any were. I hope you get the shift you are looking for and I mean that. Nope but I am about to jump on for a bit here shortly...Guess I will see soon
Thats apart of any game worth playing. Any game worth playing should make you work to get the best things, they shouldnt just be handed to you otherwise the game would be too easy (things in life that tend to be easy arent as worth it as something that is challenging/hard). With challenges comes whining, complaining, frustration. But the payout is a satisfying reward and sense of accomplishment/overcoming something. You really need to learn how to manage the game because complaining unfortunately wont solve it. The way im pretty sure most of us came up is from picking cars strategically (based on how much money they can bring back in) to advance in the game. Not all cars need to be instantly maxed out but certain maxed cars in lesser classes can take you far. Maxing out the 370z for instance gives you the best chance in D class tournaments while also being a multiplayer killer (its one of the best multiplayer cars). Combining the 2 raises your money for new cars and boosts if you use your credits wisely. You might not be able to compete in every tournament but thats the process we all have to go through (i went through the same thing you are, like a lot of others on here). And even if you cant win all the prizes in the tournaments, atleast try to get any reward you can with the car you have (win win situation since you dont lose money). I think they are trying to push IAPs a little more since the Asphalt 8 era will probably end in less than a year (the new Asphalt). Yeah, the good thing is i havent seen many hackers, well atleast in WW leaderboards. Not sure about country specific.
You may be spending hundreds of thousands to max out each of these cars, but then you have the maxed out car forever. It's not like you will never use the car again. They all come back up here and there and you will get your money's worth at the end. I kept track of my credits for one single hour of play on the tourney and ended up winning 126,000 credits in one hour. In a couple of hours, you have yourself a maxed out car and then start making even more with the remaining time.
Well I'd challenge you if I weren't trying to be all sneaky and crap. Hey I would have loved driving the sesto, but before the china update, this iPad 2 would get CPU locks of 1-2 seconds. Once I dropped back into the race, it was basically over. China update fixed all that for me. Before that, the fastest things I could run to win were the gt500 pre-599xx and the 599xx post-599xx. Anything else, and CPU lock would send me back into 5th place or so off the line if there were a lot of early collisions. Plus, even when I did run the gt500, Gameloft would send mspun at me in a maxed mclaren f12, and he'd beat the hell out of me. They didn't do that so much to the 599xx, which is the #2 reason why I ran that pre-china. The z was about the least likely car to get thrown into a punishment race. True nuff. My transcriptionist gets to do a lot of copy pasting from emails which is actually pretty hard when all you've got is hooves. Since you're back in the game, I'll reveal a secret. It looks like the z is a go for rank racing again. You get stuff up to about 1220-1240 at the worst, and a lot of that junk is someone in a Maserati or Alfa Romeo 8c. Still tons of survolts, just faster than before, but seldom fast enough. And more encounters with boosted 1189c Audi tts coupes, which are hard as hell to beat in a z. But it can be done. Cts-v is almost good, but after about ten races, I saw cars in the 1530-1540 range which was just too much. Yeah they sicced a mclaren f12 on me. I had to get away from that. Plus the 599xx shows up every now and then, and that's just asking for trouble. We already know what happens when you take the sesto out to play, and you'll see the same in the laferrari and the p1. I tried the spano, and yeah I got Lykans in that too. Hell yeah it is. The gtr is . . . eh I don't race it much, but it made me sad to blow so many of those things off the road in my cts-v. Don't rag on the Shelby, though, it used to dominate before the 599xx showed up. I was nasty in that thing. Yeah I know, logistics are a problem. And dammit if those rooms don't cut off too fast now. I get a lot of 6 player games now. Rooms can't fill up. Plus side: I can get rank off like 5 opponents. Sometimes 4, even when their highest rank is around 1100. All i can add here is to point out that the cases where first bottle = victory are most prominent when everyone is in the same car. If the car in the back has higher overall speed, there is catchup potential. The trick is for Gameloft to know exactly which cars can catch up to the bottle-grabbers in 1-2 laps and match them up against one another. I mentioned zagato v survolt because the zagato is simply too fast for the survolt to cruise to victory in that instance. The zagato WILL catch up eventually. So will the charger, as I found out. I beat a maxed survolt in a maxed charger the day I got mine from the tournament. It was tough the entire way, and driver error was involved. I had to put the charger away when they started throwing ~1420-ish cars at me. You can't always wreck the threats off the line, especially if you get the pole. Sure, you can brake and then triple, but that has risks as well. Having a bottle-hog car is nice until the raw speed of the people at your back just gets too great. I learned that the hard way in the huayra. I raced it in Tokyo the night I got it, and blew all the silver lightnings and ageras off the line, stole the bottles, and built up a nice lead. Then a silver lightning wrecked me in the tunnel. Probably bad driving on my part, but still. My uber acceleration antics had their limits. Obviously those maxed lightnings and ageras were more than I could handle, making it a poor matchup. There is such as thing as going overboard when trying to tilt the system against acceleration-heavy nosmobiles. There is a sweet spot where relatively equal drivers will have about equal chances to win when you have a bottle hog vs a catchup car. The catchup car has to have an overall speed advantage, just not too big of one.
I think it's a little bit of an expectation thing. The Spring Break Cups and some earlier tournaments conditioned us to expect a certain level of reward (credits/upgrades/booster-wise). A lot of the one-days lately haven't had rewards commensurate with their difficulty. Like, I need a bigger carrot to chase. Otherwise, I'm playing it once and then just done because I don't want to spend three hours on one race to upgrade one otherwise useless vehicle. And as he's also mentioned, it's great that y'all have millions of credits, but I'm sure a decent number of you used to get the 2x credit boost regularly. I play pretty much every day. Sometimes just 15mins...but sometimes 2 hours or so. I have 49 vehicles, but I haven't been able to really afford a new one in weeks.
I like the idea overall, I just wish Gameloft would be more realistic about which cars they'd pit against each other. If players picked b class and survolt/db9/countache came up on the rotation, which one would you pick? Now if they downgraded the survolts to 1255-1270 or so, that would be a race. Also, there are some awesome potential match ups across classes that could never happen. Maserati vs exige vs evora vs 8c would be compelling, but two of those are c and two are b . . . Something tells me they'd be better off having hand-tuned matchups that they could swap out in rotation. Kind of like the versus races from career mode, or those rare tles where it isn't certain which car gives the best times. Or they could make everyone race the same car, which may be more what you were driving at. I would dig that. Imagine everyone racing in the Clio . . .
About the credits, uh, I didn't even touch multiplayer until I had all of the original stars from career, and I spent a lot of my time grinding out credits by getting last place over and over and over again in an f12berlinetta in that first elimination race in season 8 back when that got you 1225 credits. My first tle was the f430 tournament, which was awesome for credits compared to, you know, wrecking over and over for hours on end while watching dr who reruns on demand. The tles are amazing just for the credit grind factor. To hell with the prizes. By the time win streaks came into the game, I barely even needed them. They helped me max out some lousy cars like the fx50 that I never use. When I got the testarossa and charger, I had so many back logged free upgrades that it cost me nothing to max them out . . .
