Tight turn: brake and turn at the same time, and immediately after press nitro twice (for perfect nitro) while you continue turning (remember we are talking about 100% touch controls, not tilt steering). If you add manual gears to the process, it's quite difficult to do that in a fraction of second...
I'm with you, love the post, but like I said, make it an option, let the people vote in MP. I love racing close with three or four other racers during the entire race, and that rarely happens unless there's a gentleman's agreement not to punt the other guy. The kill or be killed mentality doesn't push me to be my best.
If you had three thumbs (four if add in manual gear change) it could be done........ But, yeah, you are exactly right. I'm sure it was tested but found to be overly complex and not feasible. You'd either have to lift off steering in a bend to get the sequence right which would only result in a crash or you'd have to lift off accelerating which would just slow you down to a crawl and you'd never win. If you added in manual gear change on top if it, well, you'd need four thumbs to get the sequence of button presses correct to get a good turn in a corner. The option would have a use in a racing simulator (no nitro and probably different physics settings in the game engine anyway) but in an arcade racer, well, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to have to spend all your time concentrating on trying to regain all the speed and time you'd lose with an overly complex control scheme. There are no plans to change the in game economy. New cars will obviously enough come in at different prices but the in game economy and reward system itself is not something they want to or will change. In the past, they only added extra rewards anyway, win streak and daily play bonuses. The actual earnings from race finishes or positioning in each season tier hasn't and won't. There is no need to. Its a balanced as is possible in the current gaming environment. I've heard that maintaining that balance is something that is very important to them. As to the update itself, there just was a sync/release error on the tournament. It's not too far away now. I'd guess (and it is a guess) around midday PST, give or take an hour or two, but hopefully sooner.
Anyone know how to get the update? Showing the new tournament the. Says I need to update but not seeing an update anywhere Trying deleting and reinstalling. Hope I don't lose everything. Lol
I dont know that you loose time but I do know you can since I have had the car actually spool up and stop me when in the Lykan....I wait till I am almost straight again before punching the RED BUTTON
See last line of my post above you. Don't worry, you won't miss the tournament. That part just hit a bit too early before the update itself. The usual update process will apply so just ignore the new tournament till then. The tournament itself will probably get some kind of reset anyway as no one but the development team can play it at the minute. But again, don't worry, you won't miss anything as no one has the update yet.
It is not out yet.... have no fear it will be hear soon. I have had four wordrobe changes since last night....darn drool
Mayb u shld reread my post. I said 'manual throttle,' not manual gearbox. I want to have touch steering with manual gas pedal, if which there is no option for that configuration. Get me? Auto gas pedal sucks plain and simple.
Dang, update still isn't out? Glad I got some sleep last night instead of waiting up for it. It's gotta be here soon, right?
@Rip, if ur comment about manual gear change is in regard to my post, ur misinterpreting me. I said manual throttle(gas pedal). There is no option for manual throttle with touch steering. An omission I can't wrap my head around. Hope what I meant is clearer now.
I don't understand the need for a manual throttle in this game. You pretty much want to be accelerating or going full speed at all times, so where would the benefit of having a gas pedal you have to stay on top of all the time be? Maybe I'm missing something, but it just seems like an unnecessary nuisance to me.
Well, I understand ur point, but to me it's an integral part of the driving experience. To me, it's like having auto aim or auto fire in a shooter. I hate when games half play themselves.
That's a fair point. I'd argue that A8 isn't intended to be a true driving experience though. It's an arcade racer with numerous qualities that deviate from reality.
No, I got ya (I think anyway). I think I (and VFB) only added in an extra variable (gear change) to demonstrate an extra variable that would complicate it more. Its just not possible to give everybody what they want because of the extra complications it can add and I thought the extra variable might accentuate/elaborate the point more rather than dismiss your own, which I was not trying to do. I can see why some people would want what you are looking for, mainly in simulators, but I do see your point. But take my word for it, it was tested and considered and it just made certain aspects of how the game behaves and its mechanics just too complex to be enjoyable. I'm sure you can understand how it would complicate certain manoeuvres while cornering, accelerating, braking, nitro'ing and just maintaining speed. I know some people would be up for it but it was just too many buttons and control considerations for a touchscreen orientated game when they always do try very hard to get the controls right. I personally think you'd just need an extra thumb to get it right, but hey, I'm not always right. I suppose now that controllers are here, it would certainly be easier so I wouldn't rule it out as a future possibility to be integrated in to the controller scheme interface. But I don't really know anything about that so don't take it as something that will happen. I'm sure if they got enough requests through support that it would be seriously considered and checked to see if it was feasible. Also, a disclaimer. I'm not really sure if I was very clear in this post. I'm trying to multitask mad here today, watching the stream yesterday put me a long way behind in what I was actually supposed to doing this week .
Rite. I can't understand why manual throttle is offered in the other configurations but not with touch steer, which wouldn't complicate anything at all. Kno what I mean? A8 offers manual throttle but not with touch steering. Makes no sense at all. And I far from want A8 to b a sim, it's arcadiness is what I like about the series. Oh well, I'll stick with RidgeRacerSS. if manual throttle wasn't offered in RRss I wouldn't even play it. As I prefer to simply break throttle to innitiate a drift as opposed to braking, which loses momentum. I've tried both ways and throttle lift gives me faster laps and better results.
Fair enough. Needing and having an extra thumb to get it right would be a bit weird though. (No offence intended to those of the extra thumb persuasion). In all seriousness, its a fair point but I imagine they did test it and thought better off it. Controls are something Gameloft gets right the majority of the time. I'm sure Ryan will pass on your point to the team. (Assuming he is still conscious) All the best.
