Ha, I'd love that. The ban hammer would be out all day long I was reading some stuff lately on their own forums and its really very funny the number of hackers that have been on there raging that they were banned and wanting to know why when its perfectly obvious they've either downloaded a cracked app or hacked the game. Then the denials, then the confessions, then the begging, then the raging when reinstatement is denied. I'll admit it gave me a great deal of pleasure. So, yeah, I'd love control of the ban hammer. I've no doubt the power would go to my head, but still, it'd be well worth until I got overthrown. Edit. Oh and on that hacker that was mentioned in the last couple of posts, I've reported him through in game customer care option. It'd help a lot if a few others did the same, particularly if you've come across him in multiplayer. A screenshot of his final race time in any multiplayer race would also be very useful.
As I've stated before, the hackers will not be rewarded after we verify the legitimate times. I understand that seeing the "hacked" times is disheartening but I hope the fact that we are being proactive on dealing with these people motivates you to try, especially if it's a car you're interested in winning. If the times weren't removed I believe that just means the team hasn't updated the leaderboards yet. It doesn't mean that the hackers were rewarded for their times and position. I wish it was that easy. I'm sending feedback from this thread to our team to help improve our methods each day. I think as long as we do a better job of updating game records to show our activities it'll go a long way in comforting players. For now, people who don't visit these forums might be disheartened when they see the times without knowing people are being banned in the tournaments.
Yeah, I love those. My favorite is the guy who claims his brother borrowed his phone and hacked the game. Thanks for balancing out our laziness! The point still stands, though: Ryan said that cheaters would always get weeded out when a cup ends, and that doesn't seem to be true unless someone at Gameloft thinks that nixing the times, but allowing the cheaters to continue to cheat is a good idea. (We don't even know if any times actually get nixed, because the final ranking isn't public.) Meanwhile, racing in multiplayer with D- and C-class cars is as much fun as ever. Let's hope the cheaters stick to S-class multiplayer and those money pit cups.
Look at my previous post. Like I said, if we do a better job of updating game records instead of just not rewarding the hackers, it'd go a long way in comforting other tournament participants. In the end, I believe that is our goal but since we are being that much more active in preventing hacking, it seems we are doing our best to take things one step at a time. And to clarify, just because one person who hacked is in one leaderboard and then still present in another doesn't mean they weren't banned, it's highly possible that person hacked a second time. It's not hard to do, obviously, and it certainly doesn't mean they won't be dealt with again. And again. And again.
That's good to know; I haven't looked at it that way. Being able to defeat a ban adds another level to the problem. I guess I don't even know what is possible to accomplish with hacking. I know you can get infinite nitro, but that doesn't explain some of the craziest times I've seen on the leaderboards. Like that 1:10 for Tokyo reverse with a fairly slow car (I'm guessing the 599xx will be B-class)... To get a time like that, what would you even do? Set the top speed and other specs of the car to whatever values you want? I imagine that's possible. Then it becomes a balancing act between going fast and not wrecking too much. Ha.
Thanks for the Updates on Cheating in the Game I originally game to the forum to look for tips to increase my times, especially in the tournament matches. I'm not a slouch at the game, having all 900 stars and a rank in the 1300's in the online tournament, but it was puzzling to see in some tournaments, playing with a maxed out car and both boosters that people were clocking in times 20-30 seconds faster then the absolute best that I could do. I thought I was missing some route or techniques but see that game hacking is a problem in Asphalt 8. I love playing this game, spend at least an hour almost everyday playing it. I really enjoyed the last tournament where we had specific times to beat in order to get the trophies and prizes and thought that was a very smart and challenging way to run the race. I hope to see more of that in future tournaments. Thanks for a great game and keep up the hard work of banning and tracking the cheaters.
Thanks for the updates on this Ryan, appreciated. It is heartening that many measures are in place and more coming and we all know its always tough to deal with theses kind of cheaters and do that in an obvious way. It's always a game of cat and mouse with these guys. Just as a note that I brushed on earlier, it is worth visiting the forum for this game in the Gameloft page if there is doubters out there that Gameloft is doing anything. There is plenty of people there either denying or apologising profusely but all begging for their banned accounts to be reinstated. So the hackers are being banned and removed so they are proactive on it. As anybody can imagine, with the proliferation of the latest jailbreak, it just means their numbers are higher (and that relates to every game on the market) which leads to a hell of a lot more needing to be done. It's very important though that if you come across a hacker of any form, report them. It's an essential part of getting them all.
Most definitely. I firmly believe community activity like this and also reporting in-game goes a long way in helping us thin out the hackers that are currently present in the game. I can't thank you all enough for talking about this with me. We aren't done perfecting Asphalt 8 yet but I really do think we are headed in the right direction!
Hi all. Not sure how active this board is but the is only one of the few forums i know for this game. I have a few things i would like to know and a couple things i think could improve the game/discuss. Sidenote: I believe i am a very exceptional driver (the best driver on the game imo), have been playing for a little over a week and im the top 300-200, but this is all just me being a little overconfident. 1. Why is the game only able to have 8 player matches? Im not sure if this has always been like this in the other Asphalt games but i believe its a bad set up for multiple reasons. A. You can be put in a certain position at the start of the race where your chances to win are slim to none (like if the car in front of you has the same car/boosts and is as good as you or better). It becomes a game of hoping they crash otherwise you lose. This is especially frustrating in when you get in the higher ranks in the game where a win can get you 1-3 points and a lost can get you 4-10 points deducted. Having 4 player matches would be more fair since everyone would be lined up at the start or even 1v1 races. B. If the start of the race isnt even for all players, then half of the racers are at a disadvantage because of the race to get nos boosts. 2. Nos shouldnt make or break a race. A drivers racing skills should. The races should start out with every racer having 1-2 bars of full nos so the winner of the race wont be determined most likely based on who gets the nos boosts first (with no other way to gain nos). This adds a more strategic use of the nos to determine the winner instead of being whoever is first to the nos boosts. 3. The online matching system has the ability to be an amazing matching system but isnt used the correct way. The car ranking to determine the matching is good but often times you get ranked with cars which are 20 plus points below you or 20 plus points above you. In my experience playing 500+ matches, 70% of the time i get ranked with one or two drivers who have the same specs as my car and the rest are completely out matched. 30% of the time i get ranked with a one driver (maybe two) who hasa a better car than mine by far so it is like i was set up to lose. One way to potentially make this better is by making it so car classes are locked (Car classes only get matched with cars in its particular class). This also makes it so some cars dont become completely useless (like my favorite car is the Corvette but i dont use it online since i get matched up to lose majority of the time from my experience). One interesting thing to do is to make it so the higher classed cars get slightly more points for winning when getting your rating higher (leaderboard position ranking) since the skill to drive them is harder than the lower classes. 4. It seems like the bad drivers rule this game, which is why knockout should be disabled in multiplayer. Too many times people who are afraid i might beat them try to knock me out of the race instead of beating me straight up. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it back fires on them (they wreck themselves trying to wreck me because i out maneuver them). This would make close races a lot more interesting and it would stop all the instant knockouts at the beginning of races. 5. Im pretty sure this is talked about a lot but the credits you get for a win in multiplayer is too low. Its almost a endless grind of wins just to get desirable cars not to mention leveling the cars up. It takes forever, even with double credits on. 6. This is a way to make the game a lot more interesting. The adding of car decals/designs, body kit customization, and more maps. It makes the cars look better and gives you you're own personal imprint on your car (it will feel more personal). The maps add more replay value like the way reverse versions of maps make the game more enjoyable. 7. This is knit picking and shouldnt be taken fully serious but if some of my things were considered, the use of ramps would be useless. The reason this is so is because they wouldnt add nos to your car.
Good to know...I found this board searching for answers to how these folks were doing what they are doing. Could not find much on that because most of these cheaters are doing way more than just infinite nitro. I am certainly not the best, but I am very good and I have run into many on multi in a and s class that have left me in the dust like I was parked?? So they have been able to invoke something like infinite infected or something. That aside, keep up the fight, cuz those of us good or not that are playing by the rules are getting pi$$ed in the process. I have noticed it getting very bad in the last few weeks vs a couple of months ago.
There is no way that any car in the game with both boosters could have ran that time.... The hack is way beyond infinite nitro....Those guys ran over a minuet faster than me and a few others that I know do not cheat and are among the fastest in all results that are legit tourny to tourny....
I am new here as stated in this response and have used my game id so you all might know me if you like......looking to talk about the issue and decide to join due to the fact that I see a gamloft person active here. Ryan I am starting a log of cheaters and will be happy to share them Ryan if needed. The one mentioned above a few postes ago is still playing as of last night. I have turned in few myself ingame but I dont get anything back from you. I bet that would be too hard to do I get it. But There are soo many coming out lately that it has started me on the search to try and stop them. It suck man, they are just far too fast to even dream of catching and I am pretty darn good. Thanks for chasing them and keep up the continued support of this thread.
So I went looking for hacks for a while to see what's out there. Not sure if I should share the URL unless Ryan is interested in seeing it, but I found an unlimited top speed hack. Voila. That is where the absurd times are coming from. You just keep accelerating and accelerating. There is also a no crash cheat, though some people using it were complaining about getting stuck in walls. Lol.
@schmoopy, don't post the URL link, send a PM to Ryan letting him know about it. He'll send the info direct to the dev team and they'll sort out a block for it that they can include in an update. The mods here are rightly anti hacks as well and posting a direct link would be against the rules and could lead to a misunderstanding. I know and we all know you're anti it also but it's best to send it on direct to a dev rep rather than posting it (direct links) and other less scrupulous people are out there (not the people on here obviously) and might avail of it. Obviously commentary is fine just direct links to methods are not. Good work though on finding that extra info, thanks. @Turbo, the same applies, send that list on to Ryan by PM and the dev team will investigate the accounts of all involved. Also, you are very right on more of them out there now. This is the negative result of that jailbreak that came out at end of December. It makes it too easy for cheaters. The good news is that the next update to the game will break them and iOS 7.1 will break the jailbreak. Also, the customer care option in the game itself is an alternative method because the support team sends that stuff direct to the dev team and it all gets checked. But use either option as all those bits of info you guys mention will go a long way and help out a lot, so thanks very much for that.
I dont know why I could not find it before but I found the hack they have to be using after I saw Shmoopy found one. I sent the link to that page to Ryan along with my list of who I have found so far.... Hope that it stops them soon I would guess that he can find some of them just by the posts... But the guy that did the OP left the creators handle and I have seen it used with in the game as a driver... so hope they knock em off. Cheers
I'm sure we all agree that cheaters uses infinite nitro in order to win. In my research, this infinite nitro is being sold for by a third party who are able to hack the game. Something like you have to buy a certain credits and apply this credits to activate the hack. My theory is, if hackers can hack the program then how much more the Gameloft developers since they are the creator of this program. If I am the programmer and I know that infinite nitro is being compromised then I have to do something to correct this. If they can hack your program, you can as well hack them too. I just could not understand what's preventing the developers. I'm beginning to suspect that somebody is part of this scam. I hope I am wrong.
Ah yes, I hadn't thought of that. I had assumed that you block Game Center IDs, and the names for those are unique. So that guy shouldn't be there and still use the same name. But you also offer Facebook (yuck) accounts, right? Can there be duplicate names with those accounts? (Yes, I know I'm being a pain. I'm just trying to understand how the hackers operate, to make Rip73's future job easier. ) That's what I thought before I got myself some Game Center friends. Their ghosts taught me some humility. You're basically asking for a different kind of game, namely a more realistic one. If you ask me, eliminating knockouts and ramps would take a lot of fun out of the game. And I think that someone who manages to knock you out isn't a bad driver. They know how to use the means at their disposal. In other words, they're pretty good. Good luck with that! I tried the list thing a while ago, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. There were too many cheaters, and it turned out to be impossible to discern between cheaters and multiplayer glitches. (A car that jumps ahead could be an artifact of your local representation of that car going stale, then getting updated.)
The only time I am sure of a hacker is when I'm in 1st position picking up all the nitros, car behind me somehow catches up half way through the race and takes me out with nitro. Then I see they had the same car with the same stats. Up until the point that they take me out they are right on my tail the whole time so there is no way they can be collecting nitros.
