Indeed, but it would still be a nice challenge, similar to GTA's 100% completion, for instance. And I don't want to brag too much, but it's been a long time since I've last finished 4th or worse. So yes, I do think 100 is doable. I realize you didn't ask me specifically, but I might as well contribute my two cents: I thought that was a helpful addition. Well done!
It's been a long time since I came here. I just installed the latest update because I love the LaFerrari, and I love most of the game as it is now, but there are some things I don't like. Too bad that the money prices now have gone down a lot since I last played. I guess it's because of the change to freemium, but I was very frustrated when I began my career again and saw that the first race granted only 1,000 coins for 1st place. On the good side is the car pack prices, which have seen their price go down to what I consider acceptable levels (at least D, C and B cars). On the bad side that the IAP don't include the new cars included in the updates. In any case, I bought the B car pack, btw, making my IAP's the D, C and B car packs. That's the reason I began my career a 3rd time. What I'm not sure is if I'll be able to buy as many A and S cars as before because of the income loss since I last played (I remember 4k prices for racing the first time, and now they are 1k). Also, the Lamborghini Veneno is much more expensive: 50k vs 32k in previous versions... Another F2P consequence, I guess. Very good to get rewards for playing daily, as well as the option to buy a x2 currency IAP. Too bad this IAP lasts 24h only. Performance on my iPhone 4S with iOS 7.0.4 has improved a lot since I last played, but I still get the Game Center notification of a random competition. @GL_Ryan: Will we be able to buy the LaFerrari in the future? At the moment it seems a "rent only" car.
So so. I think it's better than the previous version, but I remember much better handling in the first version of the game. Why did they change it, btw?
Wow, cool looking new icon. Now to give the new update a run for it's money, there's daily bonuses now which is cool.
The Veneno changed in price well before the game went free to play. The change to freemium had zero effect on prize money from races. They have not changed in any way from when the game first launched and they did not change in any way when the game went free to play and this update improved the rewards by giving daily bonuses and some very useful rewards for win streak in multiplayer. In relation to the handling, I can find no difference at all there. The handling upgrades were always the most useful upgrades. And I've reset three times after getting all the stars and started over and find no difference in the handling (or the rewards) from when I downloaded on day one launch. So far the tournament only cars have shown up in the garage a few days to a week after the tournament ends. I'll assume the same will apply to the LaFerrari as it is the icon car now. Some cars will only be winnable in the tournament according to the press release but will have to wait and see which cars that applies to but very unlikely that it applies to the car they use for the icon.
Didn't notice the Veneno price change, guess I didn't pay attention since I bought that one very early in my previous plays. I might possibly be mistaken about the rewards, but I really thought they were higher before, but just the first time you race, when you get star rewards for the position and the challenges. I'll have to wait and see what happens after I finish season 1 and open the rest of the seasons. I did notice a change on the touch controls handling of the cars, specially when driving the Ferrari 458 Italia. I think it was 2-3 updates ago, but now I feel as if the slightest touch makes the car turn radically, and I didn't have that feeling before. I'll try your suggestion of improving handling though, because I just bought B car pack and I'm racing with factory car settings atm.
They finally added Moga controller support....and it's pretty sweet, I have to admit! This would definitely be the game to put you over the line if you've been thinking of getting one (well, one of 5 premium titles I can think of anyway). Now....if they'll only add it to GT racing 2
Been playing with a moga joystick on android, and it os sweet. Glad Asphalts are pretty much designed for joysticks.
I'm sure a controller would be great for this game but this is one of the best games for tilt controls. I prefer it actually and it makes racing more of a virtual experience.
Like Rip mentioned, the rewards for races haven't changed at all. We didn't tweak the game economy at all when switching from the $0.99 price to free. Also, I haven't heard from the team on that. Some cars are available like Rip said only if you win them during the TLE's, rankings, etc. depending on how the car is implemented. I think eventually after a decent amount of time though we will be releasing cars so they can be purchased normally. I just don't know how long that might be! Well like I said, I'm sure the team will evaluate how the streak rewards do initially and improve upon them with future updates Also, I'm asking everyone in this thread specifically so thanks for the input :^) Glad you're enjoying the controller support. I will be interested to see if the GT Racing team adds the support in. One thing to remember though is that A8 came out that much ahead of GTR2 so it's further in to the update process which is why things like this come to A8 first.
Solved with v1.2. Thanks! Incredible how Gameloft listens to customers even in such little details. A new quality of this dev.
You're right about touch steering. I just ran a few laps and it is definitely an improvement over the previous version. The wheel only "slipped" twice during the 10 minutes that i played. So it's not as reliable as before the major "freemium" update, but probably good enough for me to switch back. -- The framerate is definitely improved on my iPad 3. Everything feels more responsive as a result. Good stuff, Gameloft!
I second this. I am happy about that fix and am loving the update/reward system. Not to brag(completely to brag)but it would be cool if there was extra incentive to get 1st place for the win streak rewards. Just finished 1st nine times in a row...no big deal. Really though, love the update!
It's great how it went free and the rewards are getting BETTER! But, I think you should add rewards when you play people in multiplayer. Even if it is a "fixed game" which seems like a problem you may run into, it's still 5+ minutes of your time and you can give the rewards based on the number of laps the race is
Definitely prioritise the handling upgrades. Now maybe it is just my way with it but I find the handling upgrades to be the most useful in it and definitely help in winning. Not sure how it will help with the touch controls thing you mention but I think overall handling upgrades have the most impact. Let us know if it is effective in the touch control area as well. Lowering sensitivity in the controls settings might help out in your area as well because there was some tweaks to the sensitivity settings in the game at some stage that might be causing your problem. I do remember having to do some changes to the sensitivity settings of my own one after one of the updates, can't be sure which one it was though. But changing sensitivity first and then doing some handling upgrades should make a big difference for ya, I hope. Let me know. @Ryan, meant to say earlier, but yeah that screen that pop ups and details the changes in the update is indeed very helpful and an extremely useful addition. I've seen it a couple of other games and always hoped more developers would adopt that idea. So yeah, definitely a very useful addition. Oh and congratulations on being the best/highest reviewed iPad and iPhone game of the year. That's a pretty nice result for the dev team. Pass on "well done". http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Quality+Index/news.asp?c=56472
The 2 top times have got to be cheaters/hackers. I'm using nitro and tuning kit boosts and the best I can get is 1:03...ranked 650 or something. I give up.
Rip73 has an impressive 1:02 time, and I assure you he's no hacker. I've played against his ghosts and he's an excellent A8 driver. Believe me, if you can't get to his times... Try harder @Rip73, thanks for the suggestion. I'm finding control works better now. I'll tamper with the settings ASAP to see if I can improve even more. @GL_Ryan: thanks for the heads up regarding currency. My memory's bad and both you and Rip73 are right. After getting to season 3 I see the prices in that one are more like I remembered them. I remember getting around 9-10k coins in first-races on seasons 7 & 8, and now I know why I was so interested in purchasing the car packs last summer I said that buying D & C car packs was a good money-benefit deal. Now, after all the updates and price changes, I can say that purchasing D, C & B car packs is the way to go (around $15 for so many cars )
