I care, and I care a lot, but ATM I'm waiting for an ios7 update, which I hope is the one you're talking about. I still have the game installed waiting for the update, but I don't use it nor comment on it until the update is live
I still play and will see people on my friends list occasionally play as well The discussion has just died down a little. It'll pop back up around the update I bet!
I love the game, just have other things to play right now, i'm more excited about trying the game with an iOS 7 controller right now to see how it feels.
Be sure about this. Since the savegame is in GL's servers, I just deleted A8 because I don't use it. As soon as the update goes live I'll reinstall
Bug in one of the Races (attn: Gameloft_Ryan) Hey guys it's my first time posting here. So I have a problem with the second-to-last race in season 6. It's a class A race, in Monaco. The bug happens at the S-bend section of the Monaco track- every time I'm first, the car in second place will go off the track and skip the bend altogether. So instead of traversing the S-bend like I have to do, the AI will continue straight at the first bend and skip the second bend- pushing me to second place. Meanwhile I have to continue around the second bend and by the time I get to the tunnel the AI is so far ahead I won't be able to catch up in time.
Yeah, me too. Curious what the update will bring for the ipad air and iphone 5s, and also whether there will be mp friends playing rooms.
I just read that, too. Hope it doesn't break things... Going to wait for impressions before I hit the update button.
Seems the same so far, except you can now buy "boosts" that seem to work for a limited time. One lets you start every race with full nitro for a limited time, one temporarily upgrades all the cars you have for a limited time, and one gives you double money for each race, again for a limited time. All in all, it doesn't look too bad, I'm just sad that they had to go to this kind of thing. Edit: they also added some new cars, tracks, and what looks like "events" that you can get rewards from but disappear after a couple days.
*Deleted* Sorry, not a fan of the 'throwing price drops around' thing, as if the 99 cents we paid for F2P were only worth something to the dev from those that fell for it. Sorry for those that disagree with my standpoint, but my point still stands. I'd hate to buy anything knowing everyone else gets the same thing for free (how would you feel if this was a dinner, a flash drive, a deck of cards, a piece of candy, a bushel of apples you paid for that everyone else gets for free after you bought it?). I could have put the 99 cents I paid for the app, and put it toward an IAP, couldn't I?
I understand your frustration, but that's kind of how ios games are. Either the game will eventually go on a big sale, or it'll go to free if it's only a dollar or two to begin with. In this case you're basically paying for early access which I think a buck is a fine price to be able to play it first. At least you didn't pay 6.99 for it or so.
Can't say I'm that upset about F2P. I mean the game was only $.99 and offered an unbelievable amount of content without forcing IAPs. Yet I still imagine that the vast majority of the revenue from the game was still from IAPs. As long as the balance hasn't been tinkered with, I'm fine with it and I'm usually one of the first to hammer devs who go from paid to freemium. This game was pretty much freemium as it was. The difference is that it wasn't forced. And I'd bet I've gotten a good 40-50 hours out of it. That said I currently have no room to make the update and still will be curious as to what others think of it.
I appreciate your leveled perspective on it. I just don't think it's ethical nor straightforward to build an F2P and put a price tag on it upon release, the purpose being to capitalize on public's spending habit excitement before going free. I believe it to be dishonest, reason being any business' intentions and tactics hidden behind marketing. The implementation of on-and-off sales is a preparation tactic to ease the mob when planning to go permanently F2P. It's smart. However, dishonest. Don't think this is the world of business? Ask Herbal Essence! They sell a shampoo for straight and curly hair. The only difference is how they've convinced you one is better for *you* over the other. Ever heard of placebo? To them, the only important thing is you bought an Herbal Essence product, not SUAVE. There's a lot that companies do not expose to their audience, allowing them to take advantage (sometimes dishonestly) of people's psychological, habitual spending. As little as I can, I support none of this (heh, when the general public still buys, they don't have to pay attention to any individual, do they?).
I'm usually against forced free to play conversions but this game has had buy-able credits in it since the start and has been listed as free a few times since release, nothing new in the iOS world or for asphalt really, 7 was as close to f2p as you could get for .99 Adding boosts is ok but from testing GT racing 2, they get in the way if forced so i'll save more judgement until after I update and play.
I'll make a note of this but I'd also suggest letting our support team know so they can pass this along to the Dev team. Here's a link where you can submit the ticket at: Support Team link Thanks for mentioning this issue!
