Not me.. Reckon it will come out the final Wed/Thur of the month.

GL missed a trick not releasing it on August 8 though .. it would have been a great date to bring it out marketing-wise .. Asphalt 8 on August 8 .. Geddit? :D

Obviously since you are a member of this site you're a big iOS gamer like myself.

The iPad 3 is going to fade pretty fast in the next 6 months, I shudder to think how the likes of Modern Combat 5 and Space Hulk will run on it. I took the chance of getting an iPad 4 and handing my 3 down to my wife when it came up.

We get a new iPad every year (if we wish) via work (we have to pay for it though, it's not a freebie in case some ask). I feel comfortable about my iOS gaming future with the 4. With the 3 I didn't have that, so if you can upgrade when the 5 comes out, I'd say do so.

Lol if you have to pay for it, then you're not really getting it via work. You could also get it via the apple store that way...

I have a 3, and I'm upgrading when the next one comes out. In my experience, iPads typically last two years before apple starts to phase them out. This is especially true when you're using them for gaming, and if your device was underpowered to begin with (the iPad 3 in a nutshell).

If the iPad 3 is underpowered now then the iPad2 is just about obselete lol. It can however upgrade to iOS7 thankfully :3

    Look out your window.
iPad 2 runs some things better than the 3 due to the lack of retina.

    But yes.

As true as that fact is, the iPad 2 is slowly beging to 'Phase Out'. I suspect by 2014 it will have the same fate as the iPod touch 4 and iPhone 4.

I'm not sure what device they filmed that on. But based on the size it does appear to be a mini.

I'd have to fully agree with this one.
    Makes the most sense.
Plus I think going forward, most new games will be at their best on iPad 4 with iPad 5 not coming into its own for around 10 months (depending on what stage of development games are currently at).
I'd definitely bail on iPad 3 at start of November if I was in that position. It is just too underpowered and just offers a confusing mix of high end screen and weak (ish) chipset.
As I have an iPad 4, I'll be good to go until 6th, because it'll take devs some time to catch up to the device.
I still think we haven't seen the best the iPad 4 has to offer yet.
From what we've seen Asphalt 8 will be one to maximise it but I can only really think of between 5 to 10 upcoming ones that will do the same.

So ultimately Connector, its time to let the 3 go, get the 5 and let the rest of us know what A8 runs like on it.

On the video, it looks like an iPad mini as Ryan said, which both surprised me at how well it seems to run and bodes very well for the iPad 2 Sambo (they will both have to be supported in the long term and the chipset/non retina screen gives them a big advantage over the iPad 3), but it is very smooth considering the device, looks to be very well optimised with no slowdown at all.
Should be quite spectacular on the iPad 4 and iPhone 5.

  15. Yeah a couple of months ago, I was favoring waiting til the ipad 6, since at that time, it didn't seem to make all that big of a difference with the 3 or 4, but recently some games like Sine Mora and some others make me think twice about waiting another year.

Maybe Asphalt 8 will be the game that makes me change my mind, I dunno. But yeah, I agree with you all that my ipad 3 is underpowered for console like games with ipad retina. For everything else, it works great, but for few console like games now, the ipad 3 is on it's way out.

But I still love my ipad 3, and we shall see what happens on this release cycle whether I will bite and buy an ipad 5 this time around. Kind of depends how fast of a cpu/gpu it has. If it mostly just weight, size stuff, I may wait, but if it is hands down better than the ipad 4, then heck yeah, I will get it.

iPad 5 rumors are suppose to have A7 chips? So yea it will be faster than the iPad 4. But not by much. Just like the iPad 3 and iPad 4 speed isn't that far off and graphics aren't that bad either on the two.

  19. Maybe I will keep my ipad 3 for hdmi since lightning connector hdmi kinda sucks cause it is not true hdmi.

Then I can have the ipad 3, 5, & 7, hehe... That would be the easiest solution I guess, but we shall see how good that cpu/gpu is for the ipad 5, seems mostly cosmetic improvements, but if the horsepower is awesome, then heck yeah, I am up for buying an ipad 5, but we shall see. :)

But honestly disk space is the real main issue for me, it frustrates me everyday, so I hope there is a 256 gb ipad 5, but I kinda doubt it, that is why I was leaning on the ipad 6 to wait for, but maybe I will just keep my ipad 3 64 gb and get a 128 gb ipad 5, that maybe ok too.

Well it has always been quite a theme here. As well as the shortcuts. You go faster without drifting but you can take the curves tighter with drifting. Depends on the curve, how broad is the street, is there a hill-up or hill-down, what kind of asphalt and ten million other things.

And every time when we check an "old" track in A7 we find out new things how to optimize the high score (time). The tracks are VERY good designed—not only the cars.
