Every preview/review I've seen of A7 so far has people commenting on how NFS will blow it out of the water... But every time, they post those obviously retouched images as evidence... Is there actual gameplay footage of the game being run on iOS (and not on PS3 or other high-end systems)? I'm genuinely asking the question, because I'm actually intrigued by the game, but those screenshots don't look like they're taken directly off the action phase while the game is running (all the particle effects and blur seem like they were added in post-processing or something). If it's really how it will look like you play, it could indeed be very impressive... Not sure how that would run on low-end devices, though (like iPod 3/4 and iPhone 3GS or iPad1).
Everythings better on 7, i cant speak for people with older devices, i thought you had the game already? lol whats your opinion
Not sure why people are comparing this to a Need for Speed game we can't even play yet. Need for speed most wanted isn't even close to release, October/November at best case scenario, so saying its a better race game can't be based on anything but an e3 tech demo essentially. I do believe it will be a very good game but that's solely based on whose developing it, not on a single race that was maximised to promote the game and have something to show at e3. So comparing a game that is out and available right now, Asphalt 7, with a game (tech demo really) that won't be available for at least 5 months is kind of a null point at this stage.
Iphone4 since I am at work but I might try it out on my ipad2 when I get home to see if theres that big of a difference!
Awesome! I have it on iPod and it's much better than I expected! I thought it would be laggy and the graphics wouldn't be as good and I was wrong! 7 improves a lot!
Of the total of four posts you've made on the Toucharcade forums so far, they all have been in this thread and simply criticised this game, blasted Gameloft and praised a game you couldn't possibly have played unless you work for EA. Have you bought this game? I simply just don't get what you're trying to say or what point or contribution you're trying to make.
I mean seriously, a game developed by EA? It's EA! This guy is probably judging one of the trailers from E3. The game isn't even out for another 3 months, and if he doesn't like Asphalt, he should get off the forums.
Plus those trailers from e3 are essentially tech demos that they developed in order to have something to show. In saying that I love anything that Iron Monkey, the actual developer, does so i do believe it will be good. It's just impossible to compare them yet. Plus ign are working on a review of A7 but so far they've said: "Gamelofts arcade racing Asphalt franchise is back for another round of gorgeous, fast-paced street racing. Heat is available for the impressively low price of just $0.99 due to its increased emphasis on in-app-purchases. But after two hours and counting I’ve never once felt pressured to buy extra currency – kudos to Gameloft for generously balancing the in-game transactions". They have a positive impression so far.
I know. I wouldn't even think of comparing A7 and NFS:MW until I own both completed games and have played through them both a lot of times. I'm not really a fan of the NFS titles, anyways. I'm glad that IGN seems to like Asphalt 7 so far, I sure do!
Please someone answer me does this have custom soundtracks and do the graphics improve on 6 by alot of the iPad 2 and is there a shadow of your card or does it look like its floating.
I believe there is a shadow, I know there is on one of the iPads, I don't know which one, though. The graphics are improved greatly, and I don't know about custom soundtracks.
Yes the bumper view on the new ipad is rad. The normal view on the new ipad needs some more work. I hope they add this camera view to a6 too. The bumper view on the ipad really makes it feel like an arcade game whereas A6 felt more like a computer game. I would recommend this game over A6, sure it is like an A6.5, but it plays much more like an arcade game and emphasizes racing over things like drifting that a6 did. Do miss the narrators voice but guess they did it to save Disk space. Too bad they cant make a temporary download that you could delete anytime that would have both an intro video and the narrators voice. But try the bumper view on the new ipad, you will like what you see.
Well I have had a few lag problems but nothing to stop me from playing this game as its really fun. But ya sometimes during races I will lag where it like stops everything for a split second and then goes back to normal. Maybe my iphone4 is just to old
I've heard drifting is improved, but, how, exactly? Is it more responsive or what? I totally agree on the narrator. She seemed annoying in A6, but without her in 7, it makes me realize how uplifting she was, and...it just makes me so sad. ***sad music plays**
I went into this game with very low expectations, I wasn't a fan of the cartoony look of Asphalt 6 and the block shaped, square edges of the scenery. Asphalt 7 is superb, which as one of Gamelofts biggest critics is high praise. The new visual style reminds me of early Xbox 369 Burnout games and tracks like Miami, Shanghai, and New Orleans look damn nice on my iPad 3. The car models especially deserve a mention, they're the right balance of arcade and realism, nicely weighted and look less like boxes seen in Asphalt 6. I've had no issue with losing shadows beneath the cars on my iPad 3, no idea what this is about, and the IAP has yet to affect me. I've bought nothing yet and an onto cup 4, level 13, have 59 stars, and $872,480 cash. Really enjoying this one.
No background apps besides text but I did a restart after I downloaded it so I think it's just my phone is older you know.
