Yes, the graphics are definitely a big improvement. I might post some screenshots in a bit. I just bought a new car and there is no steering problem, so I'm hoping that it's just a problem with the first cars because they have crappy handling ratings.
"I just bought a new car and there is no steering problem, so I'm hoping that it's just a problem with the first cars because they have crappy handling ratings." Good to hear! Sticky steering would get me to delete and play RR2 pretty quick ;-)
The car models and lighting are really nice. However the environments although improved, don't look too good :/
Here's some retina screenshots. And I'll let you know if there's any more steering problems tomorrow once I have unlocked some more cars.
Downloading iPhone version 557 MB/€5.49 and HD version 531 MB/€5.49… iPhone is ready first. Great video trailer at the beginning, no girls to see this time (but you can hear them later as comments). Crisp sharp graphics. Menue looks completely different than A5. Awesome soundtrack. You can walk around in garage with a virtual d-pad and a gyro/tilt mechanism for looking around like in a shooter (on iPad you have to swipe for looking around). Starts with the blue Mini but I choose the silver "Abarth" and the Nassau/Bahamas track in career mode. Wow! Absolute great track with pyramids and translucent aquarium tunnels. Perfect graphics, sounds and controls (all default). When you leave the dark tunnel there is a very natural "over exposure" outside; you are "blind" for a short time. Extra points when you eliminate during drifting. Better AI, the computer racers are really crazy sometimes and trying to steal (push me aside) my nitro drops (now they are drops and not bottles and you can see them better in the distance with their ray to heaven). Found one shortcut. Could win the race in a first attempt and eliminate one or two of the others. Comprehensive statistics after the race. Now activated Ford Shelby GT500 and a new kit and a new sticker (but not enough money for the Ford). Next event: Kapstadt South Africa K.O. race, need to be under the first three, oh they are driving at the left side. Accomplished it with a bronze medal. It's not difficult and FUN! Buying Ford, next event: Chamonix, France, in the mountains… Fine snow and fogs. It's easier to find the shortcuts than in A5. Won with three stars (gold). New car: KTM X-Bow… Next: Back to Bahamas again. Have to win the race. After that now two new tracks are unlocked: Havanna in the sunset and New Orleans at night! New awesome car: Tesla Roadster Sport, new tuning kit, new sponsor. Inside the game all written text in German, female voices in English. As usual in Gameloft games. After impressive 15 minutes or so I would say: Highly recommended! As expected. Love the adrenaline mode in neon colors, the very detailled slow motion camera on crashes and items laying around from previous crashes. Seems to be a bit easier than Asphalt 5 and even more overwhelming. Great stuff! Edit: Tested HD version on iPad. Everything okili dokili as well. Some moiré in the pavements and fine structures like in all racers. Could eliminate 17 (in words: seventeen) combatants in one event!
Just played a race and, so far, it seems MUCH smoother than A5. Again, I've only played once race, but it's fast and zippy. And although Real Racing 2 and this game are vastly different, they are still racing games so I think I can make a few comparisons. The most important of which is Asphalt 6 has a much better framerate. And I know some of you are saying "Real Racing 2 has 16 cars, unique physics, etc. But Asphalt 5 has weather effects galore, shortcuts, NPCs (non-playable cars), etc. The car selection is much better, more varied, in A5. The music is much better, IMO. Anyway, I might hate this game if it becomes anything like A5 in regards to Cash events and cop chases. Those sucked the life out of A5. I'll report back.
I'll tell you this: they're better than in the last game The crashes have nothing on the spectacle that is Burnout, though. They're really quite boring. The glass breaking effect when two cars collide head-on is laughable, as you see the fragments, but the windshield is fully intact. Sad. Not one of my favorite parts of Asphalt 6.

Interesting the cars have a very noticeable feeling of weight too, something that was really missing for me from previous Asphalt games. For example in that little kit car you can pretty much forget about slamming other cars into the barrier, but a boost-takedown works fine. Asphalt 5 came out Nov 02, 2009. And there was a price drop five weeks later. http://appshopper.com/games/asphalt-5 Asphalt 5 HD was launched April 2010.
