I can only echo the sentiment of so many other iOS gaming enthusiasts, by stating that although I too have already spent a small fortune on games over the past two weeks, and despite the release if the sublime Real Racing 2, I'm still gonna pick this baby up. Secret of Mana too. That'll be another $15.98/£9.48 then! Since 09 December I've already bought: Infinity Blade Dungeon Hunter 2 Eternal Legacy Real Racing 2 NOVA 2 Dungeon Defenders FW Aralon Shadow Guardian Battlefield: BC 2 PES 2011 Uber Racer - Sandstorm Robokill ...and still more to come...
The Asphalt series originally started on Java phones. So yeah, Aphalt 1-3 are on old phones. Asphalt 3:
Preach on! 'Broken' takedown events and impossible handling with faster cars led to near insta-delete for the previous ass-fault games for me. RR2 is amazing but I can make room for a great burnout clone if this be it.
Can someone post a screenshot of the graphics on older devices and iPad? As usual they only advertise the shiny graphics for iPhone 4, and if it looks bad as usual on older devices there's no point getting this as it'll be exactly the same as Asphalt 5.
I think I'll be getting this instead of real racing just because I street riding in different cities around the world rather than riding on a race track.
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Eliminating other cars is much easyer than shown in the beginning of the video, it works really well.
Thanks for the gameplay video! Looks kinda easy, but I assume that was one of the first races you recorded. I have no beef with the graphics, it actually appears to be a pretty good Burnout clone, and with any luck it will be better than NFS: Hot Pursuit, which I found rather mediocre overall. I will try to wait a while until a few people comment on the balancing, especially later in the game. I have RR2 to keep me busy for a while anyway, so no need to hurry on this one.
One thing I loved about A5 was the feeling of extreme speed. Is it just me, or does it look even faster in A6?
It does indeed. Have you played Raging Thunder 2? I think that has the most ridiculous speed of any iOS racer. Unfortunately it can be a little hard to control, for me at least, with all that speed and slightly loose controls.
Yep, it's one of the first races. It can be quite fun when you're driving to the right of two cars and ram into them, and by doing so cause the car in the middle to fly up in the air and later respawn abit behind. That could well be, but atleast in A6 you're not scraping along the wall all the time.
Even though it's not out, if you type in "Asphalt" in the iTunes store you see returned results for Asphalt 6 and Asphalt 6 HD (iPad version), yet if you chose either it returns a page saying product not found. Must be getting it ready to go.
it's been like that for at least several days now. my guess it's been approved but Gameloft wanted it released specifically today..?
