Time Zone please....:) I have decided we will have 20 spots in this tournament. I will try to group together people in the same time zone as that is easier.

Why would we have 20 people? Doesn't make sense from a tourny prospective, would mean two sides of 5 games each, one player would end up with a bye lol.

First of all, it is this a league or a sudden death?
If sudden death .... well 20 is fine.

I was thinking it would be like this:
Start out with 4 player matches to eliminate the lesser contestants and then go to two player matches to get competitive. Thoughts?

Thats 16 people and would probably work for this tournament if you want to structure it that way.

12, four open slots, if it gets full and more people are interested I'm sure we can expand though.

13, three to go. If whats been posted is what we're running heres how I propose the tournament will play out...

of the 16 players everyone will be randomized and put into a group of four.

the group of four will play everyone in their group once (for a total of 3 games).

The top two records from each group will enter the knock-out bracket. In case of tie head-to-head record advances. Three way tie the three teams will have to replay, but hopefully we won't get into that.

The teams will be seeded from the groups. The tournament will then be knockout style best two out of three. Group A's #1 seed will play Group B's #2 seed and Group B's #1 seed will play Group A's #2 seed. Same for group C and D's.

The championship will be best 3/5? or maybe 2/3 is just easier.

All in all sounds like alot of games but I don't think it will be that long to finish TBH I've been playing atleast two games a day.

one person who plays the maximum amount of games will play 12 games, but that is just if every games goes to the maximum. I'd say thats reasonable. at most the tournament could take 2 weeks. i think thats fine. Some players like me try to finish the game in one sitting, others may play a game throughout the day. Either way we should be under my two week prediction if nobody has any summer vacations while without their phone or internet connection lol.

I'd avoid doing 4 player matches at the beginning as the strategy is vastly different than 2 player matches and not a true reflection of skill. i have actually never played a 4 player match but consider myself pretty good at the game.

If you're not trustworthy of your opponent take a screen on your iphone/ipod for verification of the winning screen but I doubt that will come up. however realize it'll be your word against his if any disputes on who won do come up which is impossible for us to help. I really doubt anyone here will go that far though.

I dunno if we need a deadline or not to play the matches... what do you guys think?

this is structured just like the picture Arashi placed. if anything is confusing you can ask.

and thats all I can think of for now. Lemme hear your thoughts and hopefully we can get 3 more people and start 'er up.

Sounds good ... even if the idea of 4-person match in the first round is cool (best of 5 matches) ... despite I am utterly crap at those ones.

The only thing I am unsure of is async games .... if we decided to have games lasting very long, I will have no chance (too busy a life to remember game things) :(

I think its more fair if its just 1v1s throughout.

We can make the games done in one sitting if you want. Arrange it with your opponent. I know I like my games done like that too.
