Guardian of Sadranis is one card I never pick up unless I absolutely have to, it basically a militia with an extra chance to gain two honor...blech! Arha Templar is another card I usually avoid, too few situations to be of real use and usually relegated to killing a cultist :p

I used to avoid the Arha Templar all of the time (along with the Druids of the Stone Circle), but I've turned into a fan of it when there are few voided monsters.

Cannot agree more. I pice them only for honor stuffing in the last phase of a game. I rather throw away points then fetch them in any other phase!

The card i hate to pick up the most is Hectic Scribe. I actively avoid that one. Does anyone like to use this card? What circumstances?

I have mixed feelings about it, but I tend to take it if my deck is not too fat with deck rotating cards. It allows me to fine tune my situation if need to be. Hence, it is useful.

true, i guess since i tend to favour that style of play, it just doesnt suit me. i certainly dont want the card removed as it is all part of the tactics of the game:)

    Hi,

I've been playing this game for a week or so and am completely hooked! Only have the vanilla set at the moment but willing to play anybody who wants a game.

Is it ok to post 'Add me' requests here? Hope so! Add me to GC: ProfitOfDoom.

I'm willing to play games of any length when I can.

I have been reading back and back pages in this thread, really interesting posts and analysis of the game! Hope to battle some of you soon!

Been thinking of getting this game however I have no experience with this type of game at all. I really enjoy turned based async games tho, is there a game that plays very similar to this with a lite version so I can see if I even enjoy this type of game before buying?

There are some videos on youtube, reviews, tutorials etc of the iOS version and the hard copy game that should give you a good idea. This is how I familiarized myself as I thought it was something similar to Magic The Gathering but it is quite different. Also check out Dominion as another example of a popular deck building game. (not available on iOS though there is a clone supposedly that I don't know the name of off hand)

Hectic Scribe isn't bad. It costs 1 and is worth 1 honor and it lets you run through your deck quicker, which if you have cards that give you honor when played, is a good thing to be doing. However it doesn't really gain you any more cards in a turn and it is taking up one spot in your hand of 5 cards, so that's a downside. Still, usually you can swap something out and at least break even. So that combined with running through your deck quicker can make it worthwhile if you have such cards. I think it's a close call, but depending on your deck it's a worthwhile pickup.

    Interesting discussion about useless cards.

I agree that Guardian of Sadranis is a terrible card to pick up. I never pick it up early game now.

Militia are in my opinion the weakest cards in the game, I always banish them first at every opportunity, and GoS is exactly the same with an odd bonus.

Arha Templar I disagree with entirely on it being useless. I've won a lot of games with it. There are plenty of monsters who cost 4 or less, and coupled with high end game honor is very useful. It's situational though sometimes. If a board is rune stocked, I wouldn't get it right away.

I like Hectic Scribe, but it only works with specific sorts of decks (which I tend to like). Use with Lifebound heavy cards i.e. Dandelion Witch or with draw decks (All-Seeing Eye, Ascetic etc.)

    Useless cards.

Eternal Askara: ranked #2 on my list. There are many other cards that banishes at much lower costs and that 3 extra points gain is not justifiable unless you are having a monster row every time it shows up. The AI loves it, so I would avoid it by instinct.

Hectic Scribe: only hates it when it is the last card showing up -- from extra draws you know. ;)

Arha Templar is not bad cause we are having a lot of sub-5-power monsters out there with the expansion on. And it has 3 points, much better than the Druids of Stone Circle, another AI favorite.

I am rather neutral to the Guardian of Sadrains, not good to take early on, though.

Yeah on board with Eternal Askara. It's a weak card, but there are times when it's a great supplement i.e. with a construct collecting hand. Definitely avoid early doors though.

I naturally avoid in the first few turns:

    Guardian of Sadranis
    Druids of the Stone Circle
    Eternal Askara

Druids is a fun one. Lots of new players like it, thinking it'll boost their hand really fast. It does the opposite. It stalls you big time, although I did lose to someone who used it really well with the raven (one of my absolute favorites!)

Stone Circle has opened up a whole new avenue of play styles. I used to play all my draw cards right away, but now, Cetra, Stone Circle and the draw cards mean I take a more measured approach to playing the turn knowing what the next card coming in will be.

"Knowledge is Power", mate. Every card that grants another card to the top of your deck is costly -- to your opponent!

I think I found a bug with Reclamax. Was playing a game in which it was in the center row. I banished it, and upon doing so, was given the option of putting a construct from my discard pile into my hand - that's only supposed to happen when Reclamax enters the center row. I'm pretty certain there was no other cause for what happened. Anyone else seen this?

Thanks to you as well. I agree. It's nice to catch a friend online at the right time and actually play a match in 10-15 minutes, as opposed to it taking 3 days. We have had some close games lately.

I am not sure if it is a bug of the AI or not:

I see the Dandelion Witch as the first card and then Druids of the Stone Circle. Unless the latter is from the extra draw, I guess it is orange after all.

And I think this is a bug nobody minds. ;)
