This appears how it works but it confused me at first as I was presented with the text of the Fate effect as soon as it came out as if I was supposed to DO something right then. Once it was my turn, however, I'm given the option to "Banish a Card" or whatever as described in the Fate effect during my opponent's turn.
I meant I have played the real version, and we always drew cards right away, because the card seems to say that and the general rules is that Fate effects take place as soon as the card appears in the center row.
I guess it doesn't really make a big difference but I'm with you, as your way makes the most sense intuitively to me.
In online games, all of the decisions a player must make during another player's turn are delayed until the start of their own turn. Askara of Fate is delayed in the same way to preserve the order in which these effects are processed (so that, for instance, you have to discard a card to Avatar of Fate's effect before you draw a card if that was the order that those cards appeared in the center row). The only card that breaks the ordering is Xeron, because the player who killed Xeron needs to know which cards were stolen in order to finish the turn. It's likely that Askara of Fate will soon be changing to a decision as to whether you want to draw a card or not. We're also considering an option to turn off the asynchronous rules (so you have the option to play with all of these effects resolved at the proper time - more appropriate when playing a real-time game) and possibly turn on the asynchronous rules when playing a hot seat game.
Thanks for clearing that up. If I recall correctly, there is no extra card drawn when the card shows up on my opponent's turn.
http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/113387/ascension-chronicle-of-the-godslayer-vortex-prom Reward: Gain 4 Honor, Flip this onto the center row from a height of at least one foot. Once it lands, choose a card it touches. You may acquire or defeat that card. If you're familiar with old school Magic, it's a Chaos Orb.
Ah, MtG mostly gets out of my mind already. Well, I think this can be done by the the player holding his/her device 1-foot high at least and drop it. The accerlometer will help to decide which card it falls upon...I m kidding, just give us the gorram card and use the random generator instead.
I finally started playing this game after having for a week, really enjoying it, more than I expected. I just wish there was a deeper single player game. Some sort of rpg storyline or tournament type thing. I know the game is really meant for online play but a solid single player experience would up the value immensely. I finally felt comfortable enough to start an online match and after the first round the guy hasn't played for 3 hours. A tad frustrating.
Welcome to the addiction known as Ascension! If you are up for another online match, feel free to send me a friend request and then a game invite. Try not to get too frustrated about the delay between moves. Speaking for myself, I can usually only make moves at certain times during the day, particularly during the work week. Some people choose not to play me for that reason, which I can understand. But I can only play when I can play. Work and family get in the way.
Camzy ... this last match was a tie! My *^$(&&$ son with his little 4 months foot moved my cards and it costed me two points!!!! Well, my little boy is too cute to hold the grudge! Let's play again.
When there is a tie (same number of points) there seems to be still a winner because of the highlited score on one side of the result screen what factor determines the winner in a tie by points?
FPE, you win by 1 point -- thought I did play really well... stlredbird, my GCID is griffin611 but I am on a diet right now, but feel free to find me to have a match but rematch is not guaranteed...
