Waaait a second! The low level AI vs. one player? That isn't a challenge for a master boardgamer as yourself! Add in 3 level 2 AI players and THEN tell us about the AI. I'm not skilled enough in this game to TRULY evaluate the AI, but I'm sorry if I get a little irked if somebody plays the lowest level AI in the simplest of conditions and declares the AI a joke.
You will love it, I was in the same boat as you. It's easy to pick up and play and you learn it more and more as you play. Just like orions you get better at it as you learn what the cards are doing and start to develop better strategies.
Jesus, take a deep breath. A few points for you: 1. Do you really think I'm declaring that I'm some sort of world-class player? If so, look up "sarcasm." 2. I never said the AI was a "joke." 3. I did say that it is "weak," at least on the lowest level. And you know what? IT IS WEAK. There's no question about it. This is a game I'd literally never played before, and I'm unbeaten and winning by scores of like 94-40? I've been playing iOS games since the day the App Store opened, and I've never dominated an AI like this. 4. I will be moving up to the second level and adding opponents. I thought I made that clear.
LOL it's actually a bit of a cheap shot, though. I'll probably change it soon. It's ironic that CR and Ascension shared a release date. One has the potential to be an instant classic ... the other feels incomplete.
What is worse is that with AI CR would amazing, they should just pass the code to days of wonder. Their AI is nit the bets but enough for some fun. Such a stupid approach the dev took.
I fully admit I need a chill pill, but I see anything less than a game's Top AI (unless it only achieves its challenge through blatant cheating) isn't a real test of the AI. I know it is just a pet peeve of mine but realize that as the majority of players out there are pretty casual and don't want to consistently lose, if a game has multiple AI levels, one invariably has to be the near braindead level (makes legal maneuvers but with little thought toward the end game). Wouldn't you feel as mislead if I wrote a post: Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is the GREATEST IOS GAME EVER MADE! Well that is if limiting it to ports of cool strategy boardgames released within the last day or so.
D'oh! Just lost to the orange-level AI, 56-53. I thought I had it won, but Botsy had far more honor points on his cards than I did. And before that, I got absolutely crushed in a three-player game. One of the bots had like 7 honor before I was even able to kill one of the Cultists. So, yes, I'm seeing a difference. And I certainly need to develop some skills; I'm still at the "pick a pretty card" level. Perhaps it would be more fair to say that the green-level AI is "newcomer-friendly"? And maybe that was done on purpose? I can see merit in the idea of not wanting to scare away any n00bs by having the game reduce them to pulp on even the easy setting.
Okay then. A cute trend I'd noticed. Often the Mechna heroes and constructs aren't that useful in the game but have great end game honor point values. I've also learned that while beating up on cultists is nice in a pinch, it is usually far more useful to take out monsters. When to simply "Play All"? I find when there are a lot of tricky "draw 2 cards and banish 1 from your hand" or whatever you might want to choose the order carefully, but otherwise, no reason not to. Lastly, banishing your own Apprentices might not be such a bad idea. Later in the game these guys and Militia might actually be good things to take out of your deck as they have no end game value and are only clogging the pipeline so your COOL CARDS don't make it out. The only danger here is don't do this unless you've built up a fair number of Mystics and Heavy Infantry to compensate for their removal.
Odd error in multi I don't have the game in front of me so don't know the opponent's name but if he/she's reading: sorry about this - the game is giving me turn after turn. It seems to cycle his hand a bit but it's always my turn. And I can fully play it out each time. I have 2 other games, a 3 player and 4 player game, running smoothly. But this 1 on 1 game is a little borked. I suppose I could forfeit but I'm kind of wondering what happens if I just run the Honor points down. Anyone see anything else interesting like that?
Agitator Academia: If your opponants name is in red, it means they have forfeited the match. It will let you finish the game, but you are not playing anyone.
Is there no multitasking in this app or is it just me? Seems I've lost my progress twice now due to calls. Otherwise, excellent game so far, I can't wait to see the Rat King!
thanks bro...i really appreciate replies man...respect....im sure the 4.99 will come off my card soon! lol u know how we are..
Actually, you can have multiple games in progress at the same time, so not sure why you are having trouble.
