I'm very rarely connected to wi-fi with my ipod, how's the 1 player game with this? Been playing Kard Kombat for ages and looking for a change.
As I am also rarely have online connection in my room due to bad reception, I think 1 player game of Ascension rocks!! Just bought the game and played it again and again and instantly bought the expansion. It's very strategic and constantly changes since all players can acquire all cards.
Haha yeah! I'm upgrading because my 3G antique needs a new home, and because I want to play Ascension without the lag!
ScaryPharaoh (hope i spelled that correctly) sorry i havent responded but i rarely sign on TA forums since there isnt anything ive been interested in lately. good games so far though. To devs: I dont know if the push notification issue has been resolved, but yeah, the wrong number of push notification keeps showing up. A notification always show up if i have a game running but usually the wrong number. Not a huge deal ,but an issue nonetheless. I hope a chat option is implemented soon, its needed a lot. i think that's a major one at this pt. Also, is there no way to add people we play to our friend list? I know it uses gamecentere, I'm just wondering if there's a way to simplify things, not a big deal, I'm just curious if apple lets you do that. The expansion is great, I'm loving the game lots. Great games everyone, I'm always looking for new games with a 1-day limit. Just add me on GC @ "onewithchaos" (or for other games like carcassone too!) If someone is reading this and is hesitant to get this game. Don't be, it's a great game with tons of fun. It's very well supported, and is a benchmark for online multiplayer. It's got issues, but nothing major and none game breaking.
Cheers, great fun playing this game. This along with carcassonne are awesome ways to pass the time during the day!!
It is amazing to see how the expansion set has deeply changed the game play. Things I was using before that were very effective, can now be disrupted by a single card. I have the feeling that the new set makes defensive game much less effective and also reduces strategy versus a more turn based (aggressive) tactic approach.
So have others been bitten by the fact that the timer is a chess clock and not a time-per-turn clock? Once you realize that it's a chess clock it's fine, but I didn't expect it. Also, the chess clock concept does fall apart somewhat with an async game, because most people like to sleep 8 hours or so. Plus maybe not taking a turn first thing in the morning. So whoever is unfortunate enough to go to sleep first loses 8+ hours on their clock every night. Overall, though, I am glad there is a clock, especially for setting up quick play games. I think maybe they should have put up a message explaining how the clock worked, though, the first time you set up a game after the update. The expansion is great, of course. I think it improves the balance of the game.
Chess clock was chosen over time per turn because we want people to be able to judge how long a game will take to wrap up. Even a 30 minute per turn game could last a full day if your opponent takes a full 30 minutes every turn. That's not fair to the player who want to play in real time. In addition, we're planning on adding organized play (tournaments and/or leagues) at some point. We want to be able to clearly define how long a round of a tournament will be, and the chess clock allows us to do that. We've seen player run tournaments get backed up because on pairing is taking too long to play. There is an "Online Features" in the lobby, right under the Profile button. This explains all of the new features, including the clock.
Yes, once I understand how it works it's fine, and probably a good idea (certainly for finding Live games), but the precedent in other games was for a timer that was per move, thus the initial confusion. I got a forfeit as a result of somebody starting a 4 player game with a 24 hour clock and me joining it, thinking that was per move and thus it would be no problem. Well, it was. Unless you're going to coordinate and play the game live, I think it's pretty unlikely that you can finish a 4 player game with a 24 hour chess clock without anyone forfeiting due to the clock. Also I think there should be an option for no clock, for people who don't care how long the game takes. Something to consider for an update, anyway. But put in in-game chat first!
Hey guys, I love you all, but I can't play the expansion on my iPhone 3G, so don't invite me! I'm upgrading, but it's going to be at least a week. I'll invite you guys to games. I'm learning the new cards through reading the descriptions, but it's not the same as actually practicing and learning how to play. I'll be up online soon though. Also, I'm not a fan of the clock. It places unnecessary time constraints on the game, and there are two many unnecessary increments. I like how you can take a long time between turns, especially from my perspective of being busy at odd hours. An untimed mode would be great.
1 week it is... great to see u and all these wonderful folks back here. thanks for all the games guys...
Thanks for all the games that we've been playing - specifically tecwrt, fpex, kitkeat, griffin911. Kudos to the developer, this expansion really upped the ante for the game, now you see opponents actually stop and consider their options rather than playing on auto pilot!
Camzy, you should be back up and running sooner than that. We've submitted an update that fixes the touch screen issues on older devices, and Apple has granted an expedited review, so we're to have it out today or tomorrow. Nice to see TA mods finally got around to fixing up the index numbers on the thread...
There is an update now available through the AppStore that fixes the problem with playing the game on an iPod Touch 2G. It also adds a 14 day option for the online timer, and makes the timer selection default to the last value used to create a game when you log back into the app. Unfortunately, this update also breaks in-app purchase for Return of the Fallen. If you already have RotF working, you can install the update over the previous version, and it will work just fine. If you delete the app and try to reinstall from this version, you won't be able to gain access to RotF. If you haven't yet purchased RotF, you won't be able to buy it from this version. We've already submitted an update to Apple, and we're at their mercy if they decide to turn this update around quickly. The previous version is still fully compatible with our network servers, so if you don't have an iPod Touch 2G, and don't care about being able to create online games with a 14 day timer, it's probably best if you hold off on downloading this update until after the replacement is available.
Thanks for the update. I wish better MP features on our wishlist (chat, better GC integrations, better multitasking support, etc) earlier and now I want to add: Be able to adjust the game clock upon rematch. Glad to see the update gets approved so fast (where is that gorram Carasoone update then?!) Edit: I get your invitation, Camzy. Let the killings begin.
