I haven't been able to connect to the server over the past hour or so. Anyone else having issues. Are the lights out on the west coast again???
Today's downtime was intentional. We're fixing the issue with forfeited games reappearing whenever the server resets. It'll be back up shortly.
Wow, I just finished a game in which for my last play, I had 15 Power (and no Runes) before capturing/buying any cards. Never seen that before (with either Power or Runes). I've gotten double digits before, but I'm pretty sure never that high.
Newcomer friendly? Hey everyone, I've read so much positive feedback about this game and it definitely has piqued my interest. I've never played any type of CCG game before and I was just curious as to how accessible the game is to a complete newcomer. I like the idea of building a deck on the fly and also that no IAP packs are required to play the game as it stands right now, at least until the expansion arrives. Any feedback or advice for me?
Humm, there are many tips made by others (significantly better than me) along in this tread, but this is hard to search. My tips are to be very familiar with the game mechanics and more importantly, remember what every single the cards does (unlike me, I still cannot remember any names other than the free-two).
This isn't a traditional CCG/TCG. It's a strategy deck building card game. There's quite a bit of difference, so not having experience in them won't be a problem. If u get it (and u should if u like strategy games and fantasy card games), definitely play the tutorial and read the instructions. Then just play the AI on easy as many times as u need to become comfortable with the mechanics and cards. At that point it's up to u how to get better - play the AI on medium, play other people, read strategy hints, etc. And prepare to spend a lot of time on it - it's an addicting game! What's cool though is games (1v1) only take about 15 min.
That's the thing - on one hand I absolutely love strategy games, especially turn based strategy, but I have zero experience with any kind of card game. I'm intrigued, but just trying to figure out how much mileage I would get before I take the plunge. Thanks for the insight though.
Here's the result of game 3 with Uber Franz in the Ascension Tournament: I'm not sure if the tournament even exists still but the final result is Diligence 2-1 vs. Uber Franz to finish out the round. The last game was a tight one the from the start. Ready for whoever I play in the quarter (or semi?) finals. Thanks Uber Franz for the good games.
Ugh, I just had a prime example of a game of why making the right choices is key to winning. I made three mistakes in the game, and each one cost me a point. Guess how many points I lost by? 1.
Plaid Hat Podcast Incinerator recently made a guest appearance on the podcast for Summoner Wars. The primary topic was iOS board game development, which included a fair amount of discussion about the Ascension app and some upcoming features: http://www.plaidhatgames.com/podcast.html (episode 18)
As I've said before, this is like a CCG for people that don't like CCGs. This isn't a game that requires a ton of strategy. It's honestly more tactical (dealing with what you have right now rather than lots of LNG term planning). It is very easy to get into, even if you aren't into card games. There is some card interactivity, but it isn't like every single card has totally unique rules. Go buy it and play several games. Then, when you have questions, come back.
Nice game, we should play more! More like six ... but this is part of the game, i had 6 cards and 5 would have let me take avatar and tyrant in one round, but got bad luck that costed me the game till the swap Btw for anybody playing with me or inviting me, tomorrow I am off to north of France for a week, not sure I have any wifi there. Apologies if I seem not playing!
I want to say this for a long time but these days, the urge seems going up to here... 1. Improve multi-tasking support; 2. Fix the Game Center connect problem (it is either hit-or-miss) 3. More avatars to choose from and remember our choices in single play 4. Give us that gorram extension now! I just beat "Remote Player" (see the problem with GC?) even though I should have taken that 3-point Mechna instead of 4-point one...
Agrees with all 4 especially the 4th point Add to this some kind of Leaderboard to track your win/losses Any ETA on the expansion?
I agree completely with the ability to track wins and losses. I have resorted to keeping track using the Notes app on my homepage. The multiplayer experience would also be greatly enhanced with a chat function.
Can anyone tell me how to start a game with another friend on my Game Center list? I go to Create Game, click on a blank square to add a player, it shows (Open). I click on (Open) and no matter where I click I don't get an option to pick someone from my Game Center. I have been playing with one Game Center friend since I got the game, but would like to get a couple more games going. Thanks!
