The avatar with a white glow around the inside edges of the square is the player who will play last. It's subtle/obscure. They really need to point stuff like that out in Help.
You guys are going to think I'm making this up, but ... ... two straight games this morning, two straight close-as-possible wins.** **and, yes, they are wins there's no ties in Ascension
was wondering if this is considered the "best" online card game for the iOS? I suddenly got interested while my coworker was playing this during break lol. Is the online active and is the game "fair" with no exploits etc? And is it hard to learn to play?
In order of your questions: 1. "Best"? A matter of opinion, of course, but this is a very good game. It gets my vote for "best," but I'm just one guy. 2. Online is very active. 3. It's fair the entire deck is available to both players. 4. Minor learning curve. Basically, you gather resources to kill monsters and improve your deck. The UI is very good, as is the tutorial.
I agree with Dukester on all points. It is my favorite Iphone game overall, not just my favorite card game.
Thanks guys, so this is the card game that most people like? Are there any other games out there that are rising? I remember one card game in the upcoming list but never paid attention to it. It had booster packs and etc so more cards.
What those guys said above me +1, I think it is the best myself. Other fun card games are Kard combat and shadow era which are both free, those have booster packs for IAP, but you can definitely play the free to see if they are your cup of tea. Orions2 is also good but dead.
I agree on Kard Combat, although the multiplayer has some issues that I'm sure will be fixed. I never got into Shadow Era, thinking it was going to be very expensive to build a competitive deck. That is one of the things I love about Ascension. All players use the same deck. I can't wait for the Fallen expansion. Ascension is one of the relatively rare Iphone games that is console quality. In hindsight, I would have paid at least 10 times the asking price for it. One under the radar card battle game I have enjoyed is Alien Menace. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy solo campaigns.
Anyone notice that Kard Combat rose in price to $3 this weekend, then dropped back to free and was listed on freeappaday.com today? Seems like a marketing ploy.. I can't imagine they'll keep the $3 price given that they already have IAPs (and that w/o the IAPs, the game is pretty vanilla).
Yeah alien menace is fun for solo play, so are dungeon solitaire and necronimicon. I agree with shadow era, too expensive and too much reading to make a competitive deck(s) IMO, but it is fun and polished. If you haven't tried battle of gundabad is fun as well, but has no mp, it s a deck builder like ascension but more of a dominion ripoff.
Jesus, for reals? I've played literally hundreds of games, and I didn't have the slightest idea about this. I generally give Incinerator a solid A-plus on Ascension, but this is something they need to take 15 seconds to explain in the next update. It's kind of important.
Hey, this is me! Not a bad game, until i lost it I often end up with very close scores, if not ties that i seem to loose more often than not, like this game with you.
I decided to finally pick this game up... my first online match against whiteDragon1973 I think...is still on my ipad..round 17 I took the final honor and I am clearly going to win. Im in the lead by 15 honor and my deck holds higher honor totals than whiteDragon's...but of course he leaves the game or disconnects right as the honor runs out and now the game just sits there...I don't want to have to choose forfiet..I wish games like this would add some sort of timeout period. If they don't reconnect in X amount of time. They lose. It is going on 15 minutes now of the game just sitting there. Not a good experience my first playthrough. The game itself seems like it is a bit of fun though.
Is his user name in red text? If so, he's already forfeited, and you can just play it out. Not that it matters too much (other than in a tournament situation or something similar), as the game does absolutely no stat-tracking right now. If not ... well, it is an asynchronous set-up. Sometimes, other players have RL issues. I'm in a three-player game right now where we are down to 3 in the honor pool; all we need is for everyone to sign on and we can end it, but it's been sitting there for two days. Stuff like that happens all the time. Of course, I play 90 percent of my games against people from here or BGG, so I feel I've gotten to "know" them. And I know that they will eventually sign back on and finish up. If you play one-offs against total strangers, you're at the mercy of fate.
His name isn't in red. Maybe he truly had something come up. Just kind of coincidence that it happened to be on the very last turn. I guess since there is absolutely no stat tracking, then it doesn't really matter. You made some good points. I played two more matches. One I won and one I lost..pretty badly
If you go through a few pages of this thread, you'll see a lot of us have our GC user names in our signatures. No one from here (of a core group of maybe 10 or 12) has ever ditched a game, that I've heard of.
Summoner Wars will be coming out soon also by Incinerator. It will be very well received I'm sure, considering the loyal following the board/card game already has.
