They could just have a popup with all of the cards in your deck, exactly like we already have. Highlight one, hit "Guess" button.
Yeah, that's probably how they will do it, but that does take away the element of trying to remember what's in your deck. Safe bet is to pick Apprentice, but if you gone on a banishing spree it might be less clear. Plus I suppose you can't have that element anyway since you could always look at exactly what's in your deck. So it's lost either way. Not a big deal, though. It's kind of a weird idea for a card.
There's no element of remembering what's in your deck - tap your deck to show your entire deck, then minus constructs, what's in your hand and discard piles... Now if I could just master the "what the hell was I trying to accomplish in each of these async games" I might be able beat you guys a tad more. And if they use this interface, it gives you the chance to goof up and select a card in hand/discard/etc.
But there is that element in the boardgame; I think that's the point here. The instructions on the card begin with "name a card." In theory, this could be any card in the game. This will be an advantage for those paying attention or those who tend to always grab the same cards from the center; for those playing 20 online games at once, this isn't going to be as easy. A risk-free 3 Honor points is nothing to sneeze at. They will need to come up with some sort of workaround that displays every card in the core game and expansion to the player.
There is unless you've got a good memory. (Which is not me. However I know someone who can play games on his chess computer w/out pieces... and card counting is trivial to him...) Any card in your draw pile, right? The iOS version will already show you the contents of your deck, and you can also see your discard pile, hand and constructs, so I see no change here. Bingo.
No. Any card in the game. The point being that it needs to be possible to name a card that literally hasn't been seen yet, or that the player can't quite remember if he grabbed earlier or not. If this is going to be accurately replicated in the boardgame, then the display that the player sees to make his guess will need to show every card. But this is getting pretty pedantic. Most players will have at least a vague memory of the strategy they're using and the cards they've recently played and discarded. For those that are truly lost, they can always just guess "Apprentice."
We're considering several different options for how to implement the interface for Great-Omen Raven (there's a reason it wasn't present in the preview build of the expansion we showed at GenCon). The first pass will use the existing list that shows all of the cards that you own. That list is already a departure from the information available in the physical game, but it was a necessary concession to improve asynchronous gameplay. It might make sense to reverse the order of that list so that Apprentice will end up as the rightmost card in the list, which will save everyone alot of scrolling. We'll try that and then get feedback from Gary Games and our playtesters. The expansion will allow us to fix the one shortcut we took with the game rules in the base set. Rocket Courier should be a "may" put the construct directly into play, but we implemented it as a "must". We haven't received any complaints, so it seems like we made the right choice there. With Stone Circle, players will likely want more control over which hero gets put on top of their deck, so we're looking at ways to upgrade the interface to support. Samael will also benefit from having this option. Also, in case you guys hadn't noticed, Ascension was covered on the toucharcade podcast: http://toucharcade.com/2011/08/08/the-toucharcade-show-bonus-interview-with-incinerator-studios/
...and in case you missed it, your game is awesome and worth every penny and you should be proud of it.
How about a list of all owned cards but listed in order of frequency so all of the cards the user has multiple copies of weigh in first. While this would most likely be Apprentices and Militias, it should still adjust itself to reflect the current situation if, for some reason the player eliminated all but one Apprentice but has two identical Mechna Constructs, these constructs, as the most frequent, would get listed first. Oh, and ditto what the9quad said there!
Nice gane kk! Lost by one point. I knew you were loading on cards and that we were even the entire game. Lovely game!!
I think I'm friends with them all. I'll post some screens from some of our games tomorrow sometime. LordGek is the only one that hasn't accepted a game yet...I'm game whenever he is.
We are also in the middle of our game now. Just finish a game with FPE, I got lucky near the end and manage to edge out a win..
Well, we had bad cards ... Or at least I did. Not asin gele construct came out when I could have got it .... :-( but indeed at the end you snatched all the winning point!!
My cards were pretty bad throughout the game too. The turning point is when I manage to defeat Avatar and acquire the Hedron Cannon. If not, I am sure you would have won the game.
